rain moved across the bay area overnight. meteorologist kari hall tracking all things to happen across the bay area. kari, i know coming in a few sprinkles. i couldn't tell if it was from the rain on the road or still coming down just a bit. >> yeah, we have light rain coming down in spots. tracking with storm ranger and telling us exactly where that rain is happening and it's mostly across marin county moving over towards southern sonoma and napa counties. that is where we are seeing some of the heavier rain right now. still in the area and you may still have it on your way into work this morning. a lot of the heavier rain has moved on through and will continue to move off towards the east as we go into the next several hours. sunshine for the rest of today and cool these next couple of days along with more sunshine into the weekend. we'll talk more about all of this and take a look back at some of our rainfall totals.

mike, those roads may be slick for early morning commuters. >> yeah, and as you point out, kari, there may be an event as you head into work. take a look at the maps we don't see a problem as far as the roadways, green sensors but green highlighting which means the roadways slicker in those portions. definitely damp. west 24 around wilder reports of a crash that may be blocking one lane. a little slowing there. again, slick conditions. watch the on and off ramps. the bay bridge is clear but look over on the san francisco side. minor roadway flooding may affect the surface streets, as well. no closures right now, marcus, back to you. now to the race for vaccine i'm here in the covid crisis center. f fda advisors and consider its recommendation. now, if approved, 6 million

doses could ship next week and will go to thousands of health care workers. as of today, pfizer's vaccine has reached 886 sites across the nation. >> well, there's still a lot of uncertainty surrounding drugs within communities of color. the naacp held a town hall with an all black panel with information about understanding the covid vaccine. one doctor on the panel is a key scientist behind the development of the moderna vaccine. she says it's important that the community knows a black woman is at the forefront of this development. >> became clear that if we were going to be able to sit on panels like this and tell people of color that the vaccine is safe and effective for them that we needed to increase the representation of those people in cu in. >> out of 30,000 people participating in moderna's clinical trial 11,000.

new concerns and new orders for the bay area. we dropped below that 15% threshold for icu bed space. that means more restrictions for some countries including san mateo, napa and solona. in the bay area, only two counties are above 30% availability. that's san francisco and alameda counties. in the red, santa clara, san mateo and solano counties. all have less than 15% availability and the worst of all, marin is at zero percent. and plan in place to deal with maxed out hospital icus. emergency response ambulances are being diverted to specific hospitals to stay out of the way of medical centers overrun with covid patients. the plan launched over the weekend. no patients will be turned away if they have life-threatening issues. the next round in the fight between south bay church and santa clara county is set for today. mike mcclure continues to hold

in-door services on sundays. that church faces more than $700,000 in fines from the county. this is for defying health orders. the attorneys will try to get the case moved to federal court because they call health restrictions unconditional. unconstitutional, i should say. happening this morning, teachers in santa clara county organizing a car caravan to send a message to the office of education. they want the county to put the brakes on districts returning to in-class learning. as part of the protest, organizers plan to drive past the home of county education leaders. a welcome site across the bay area overnight. rain. right now our storm ranger fueled up on san bruno mountain tracking some of those showers from sfo to richmond. a wet start after rain moved in while most of us were sleeping. meteorologist kari hall timing out when things will start to clear up for us. nice to see this rain, kari. >> yeah, i think my plants are really soaking it up and enjoying this out there.

we're going to have a few more of those lingering showers. i want to show you storm ranger and how we can get this second by second update. it's really realtime and shows you exactly where some of the heaviest rain is falling. we can see from san rafael over to just the north of richmond into vallejo we're seeing some of the pockets of the heavier showers moving through right now. so, if you're about to head out the door, expect it to be a very wet commute and we're also seeing some of that light rain moving through the south county. we'll talk more about this coming up in a few minutes. mike, also slowing down the commute or should slow you down. >> exactly. should slow you down if you're not slowing down. do be careful because the live look at the bay bridge shows you the wet pavement. we can see the pavement because not as many cars and expecting a lighter volume overall. again, a word of caution because of those conditions. the map shows you the toll plaza approach is not a problem. we still have the crash and slowing right near the exit there for fish ranch road the

i love that. it's also nice to see the rain. let's get a look at what storm ranger is showing us this morning as we're still seeing some of those showers moving through parts of the north bay, especially as we take a look at some of the rain that may impact your drive this morning. it's also starting to move really into parts of the east bay from oakland to richmond over towards vallejo and up towards fairfield. we're also seeing the rain approaching lafayette and we're still going to see some of the lingering showers moving through. seeing it now moving over towards the hills. it looks like your 101 drive should start to dry out. we're looking at the heaviest rain pushing on through. look earlier this morning and since about midnight, we've seen some of those rainfall measurements at about a quarter to half inch of rain. san francisco measuring the most of that rain since midnight. up to half an inch. and napa and check out oakland. more than a half of an inch of rain. we're still at about a tenth of an inch in san jose.

next several hours and we're only looking at a few spotty showers up until 10:00 or 11:00 this morning and after that we're in for sunshine and where we do see that rain few and far in between. as we look at our temperatures we're heading into the upper 50s and a few spots reaching 60 degrees today and we're watching to see what the drought monitor update will be for today. we know that we do have extreme drought conditions and we'll get the update within the next couple hours and i'll be watching out for that to see if we made any improvements with the recent rainfall we made. back to dry weather over the next several days. as we're going to see more sunshine leading into the first day of winter. we were watching a storm system for early next week and that stays to the north so we're in with the sunshine at least through the next week. i'll be watching that as we head over to you, mike. how is it looking for the commute? >> all right, kari. we want to remind folks that commuting you could check that weather before you go out. we have our app and the traffic

a new legal win for two san diego strip clubs appeared to have opened the flood gates for struggling businesses. clubs can continue to operate and follow their own guidance on workers' safety for dancers. the scope of the injunction is much broader and applies to restaurants, as well. it is seeking clarification from the court. some restaurants may reopen for indoor dining as soon as today. the world's largest trade group is involved in a new lawsuit over california's recentry recent ly introduced. among those backing the suit followed by three small businesses. cites new pandemic safety rules ordered by cal osha last month. the mandates are in many cases too costly for those struggling businesses to follow and require testing and paid leave. the claimants argue that the state should cover those costs. the state has not issued a comment. a follow up for you the state office of emergency

services is extending the deadline to midjanuary. this is for recent north bay wildfire victims to request phase two debris removal. phase one involves hazardous waste and other debris including vegetation. the new deadline is january 15th. fish and wildlife now trying to determine if the same coyotes behind a third attack. in lafayette area this past tuesday night when a worker was bit behind the diablo food market in lafayette, that's not far from mu rago where a man was attacked two weeks ago. fish and wildlife has already confirmed that coyote is tied to an attack on a 2-year-old last summer in marago commons. >> just the aggressive nature of this particular coyote going up and biting people completely
