information related to the capitol riot, it's unusually quiet, as the house is calling for a second impeachment. we haven't heard from president trump this weekend. >> in his first weekend without twitter, the president has not put out any statements. and it appears he hasn't left the white house. it comes as house speaker nancy pelosi announces plans to move forward with attempts to remove the president from office. in this letter, pelosi announced tomorrow, the house will request unanimous consent to ask the vice president to convene the cabinet to enact the 25th amendment. doing so would render the president incapable of rendering the duties of his office. and the vice president would take over as acting president. if the house does not give unanimous consent, the house will bring up the request on the house floor. vice president has 24 hours to respond. after that, the speaker could introduce articles of impeachment that could come as early as tuesday. also today, senator pat

campaign trail. a seconds u.s. officer has tied. died off-duty this weekend. it was not clear if it was connected to the violence at the capitol. they say, he was a long-time officer and selfless in his service. he was a patriot who dedicated his life to defending the capitol, and protecting all who serve, work in and visit this temple of our democracy. may it be a comfort to his family that so many mourn and pray with them at this sad time. thousands of law enforcement officers lined the streets in washington, d.c., paying tribute to the officer who died following wednesday's attack. the body of brian sicknick traveled to a funeral home, officers lined the route, saluting him. the capitol police officer died thursday night from injuries he suffered when clashing with pro-trump rioters the day before. warnings of possible violence were sent to the u.s. capitol police before the january 6th riot.

senior officials tell nbc news, the warnings come from the fbi and the new york police department. the fbi visited more than a dozen extremists, already under investigation, urging them not to travel to washington, d.c. the nypd sent law enforcement agencies across the country, including capitol police, an intelligence packet, describing threats on social media leading up to january 6th. these details undermine a top fbi official and d.c.'s police chief who both asserted no official knew of the possibility of violence. not taking any chances, san francisco police says it's aware of a potential protest at twitter tomorrow in the move to permanently ban president trump. sergio, set the scene for us down there right now. >> reporter: i can tell you in the last half hour or so, there's a couple of city trucks that showed up so they can put

out the barriers, barricades to encircle the building. some of the polices places of business are not adjusting the hours. and some of the neighbors say they don't expect a large crowd. there's a single police vehicle neby tonight. more officers may be here tomorrow. the sfpd says, we will have sufficient resources available to respond to any demonstration as well as calls for servi citywide. people who live nearby don't think it will be a large crowd. >> it would be people coming from outside of the city. >> reporter: they trust the police to handle the situation, as tensions around the country remain high. >> i think so, with what happened last wednesday. you cannot -- we cannot afford to be complacent. >> reporter: wednesday's riot at the capitol has set off a chain

of events leading to a possible protest outside of twitter headquarters. the president's supporters say he and his followers are being treated unfairly. >> when the company has the unequal application of the terms of service, you're going to get a response. it's going to happen. i don't know the specifics of this -- this protest. i expect you see lots of them. >> reporter: he is saying that supporters of trump are being booted from twitter. it's not clear if people are being suspended or they're leaving the platform. what's more, the conservative app, parlor, that many of the president's supporters were starting to use, is expected to go temporarily dark tomorrow, when amazon boots the site off its servers. if a large group does show up out here tomorrow, they're mostly going to be rallying outside of a mostly empty building. a twitter spokesperson telling me tonight, the company is one of the first to initiate

themselves, little regard for others. little regard for life. little regard for democratic ideals. >> reporter: swalwell says he will get tested for covid-19 tomorrow as a precaution. the message is clear. stay home. stanford freshman and sophomores will not be allowed on campus for the winter quarter. 43 students tested positive for covid. marrianne favro is at stanford university tonight with the details. >> reporter: in a letter to students, stanford's president says the university hopes to welcome freshman and sophomore students back to campus in the summer quarter. in a message to the stanford university community, the university president said that sophomore and freshmen students will not be allowed on campus as planned because covid cases in california have skyrocketed. stella was accepted to stanford as a freshman but opted to take

walmart temporarily closed one of its south bay stores to allow for a deep cleaning. it's the supercenter store on story road in san jose. it's company of a company-wide program to make sure that stores are cleaned during the pandemic. the store will be closed tomorrow so workers have time to resho restock shelves. other stores are closed for the same reason this weekend. small business owners trying desperately to save their livelihoods during the pandemic have another chance to get help. starting tomorrow, applications will be accepted for those who did not receive any help last year from the federal relief ppp loans. for this round, there's some new regulations, including a maximum loan of $2 million. and to be eligible, a business must employee fewer than 300 people and have lost over 25% of their gross revenue in any quarter of 2020. follow-up now to a story of

vandalism. we told you about this last week. more than $23,000 has been raised to replace the cherry blossom trees in san francisco. on the early morning hours of january 1st and the 3rd, someone vandalized the trees outside of the japanese cultural and community center. these were broken down to the trunk. look at that. the trees were planted to commemorate the 1994 visit to the city by the emperor and empress from japan. first, nbc bay area and telecommune dare teaming up for the grant project innovation. project innovation recognizes and awards $315,000 in grants to
