now. good thursday morning. thanks for waking up. i'm laura garcia. >> i'm . marcus washington has time off. let's check about the spring, almost summer like weather. good morning. >> good morning. we're starting out clear in the south bay but we are seeing very dense fog in parts of the north bay and south county, so watch out for the fog this morning but record high temperatures for today and see more of that going into the weekend as well as the very dry conditions. the visibility before we get ready to head out the door take a look at the zero visibility that we have around novato. the fog and record high temperatures coming up in few minutes and the dry weather. vianey, you're tracking the morning commute. anything going on yet? >> it's pretty quiet. we had a couple overall crashes

mitt romney heckled by trump supporters. scenes of tension like this have been building recently. it's the reason why the faa is warning passengers it will be strictly enforcing in flight rules. passengers are required to comply with flight crew commands. violators could face fines and jail time. flyers we talked to say people's nerves are fried because of politics and the pandemic. >> i'm a covid nurse and yeah, people are extremely irresponsible. >> there are some people on the plane that didn't their mask on at all times and it is dangerous. >> it's not just faa, airlines have been enforcing their own safety polgss. anyone in california now 65 and older eligible to get a covid-19 vaccine. in the bay area, many county leaders say they don't have the supply. san mateo and santa clara counties say they're working to vaccinate county health care

workers and people with medical insurance who want a vaccine should call their medical provider. >> we don't even yet have enough doses that have been received in the county, first doses, to cover all of the health care workers in the county. >> if you have a commercial health plan, reach out to your health provider as soon as possible and see what uk do to get vaccinated. >> in a statement the san francisco covid command center says it's making plans to vaccinate people who don't have a health care insurance plan and it's working with private health care providers to speed up vaccinations. good thing because california continues to record more than 30,000 cases daily with total infections topping more than 2.7 million. the bay area has more than 320,000 cases, we're nearly 3200

lives lost. sanquine tin prison is reporting 23 deaths. the records have separate from the overall bay area totals. there's a covid outbreak in the jail system. 109 cases, the majority at the elmwood correctional facility in milpitas, not the main jail. those are the highest numbers since the start of the pandemic. reports of a covid outbreak at a north bay center as well. the outbreak infected five patients and five staff members at sonoma specialty health. a spokesman says the patients became infected at another location, though the paper quotes one identified worker as disputing that claim. for updates on the pandemic including cases and vaccine to. for updates on the weather, plan your day, what to wear, let's check in with meteorologist kari hall. >> good morning and it starts

out a little bit milder than we've seen so we are feeling temperatures right now in the upper 40s and low 50s. you need a jacket but in some spots we have low visibility due to fog that we're going to need to allow extra time to get to work. after that it's going to be a beautiful day. really warming up. the warming trend in the upper 50s and through the day we'll see our highs reaching up to 70 degrees. this is crazy. this is just january. so we'll talk more about some of those records we could set coming up in a few minutes. vianey, as you watch the roads, anything else going on? >> you know, aside from the fog, kari, we're doing pretty good. just be mindful of a couple slow spots in through san francisco because of overnight construction, but i do want to show you how the fog rolls up on my map. if i push this up as you mentioned san raphael, santa rosa, petaluma, fairfield, you

good morning. i'm bertha coons with your slip but off of its record close from last friday. the nasdaq and s&p 500 ended higher. investors were monitoring the house impeachment vote, but they're much more focused on president-elect biden's stimulus plan which is expected to be unveiled today. also in focus today, we're going to get reports on import prices and new filings for unemployment and airlines from delta, which were just out and look pretty good this morning. workers at mcdonald's, wendy's and other fast food chains will strike tomorrow in at least 15 u.s. cities including oakland, los angeles and sacramento. demanding that the minimum wage be boosted to at least $15 an hour. organizers want to pressure the incoming biden administration to

push to make higher pay a priority and close the wage gap among workers of color. federal minimum wage has remained steady at $7.25 an hour for more than a decade now. costco is closing photo centers in all of its clubs on february 14th. some services will still be available online including prints, photo books and business printing, but after the centers close you won't get ink, refills or passport photos either. costco says the need for printing photos is steadily declined since the introduction of camera phones and social media. hello. throwback thursday. costco says members should pick up all the remaining orders by the end of march. scott and laura, you know, i still print christmas cards, but that's once a year. >> and those you can get right. bertha coons, thank you very much. >> i love having pictures. i have a whole bunch. >> yeah. >> all right. happy new year to you.

and a live look at san jose on this fine thursday morning. it's shaping up to be beautiful, particularly this weekend. let's check in with kari this morning. good morning. >> good morning. and we've had all of these storms rolling through the pacific northwest, but what are we seeing? nothing around here. very spotty, light rain all week long that's because all of those storms have been steered to the north of us and we have this big blocking area of high pressure that's giving dry weather across the southwest and it is going to stay there. we are not going to see any chance of rain through at least the next week and so as we are in this weather pattern we know we need some rain, we're going to wait to see what the drought monitor says when it gets updated later this morning. we have really warm temperatures. now keep in mind that we should be in the mid 50s for the beginning to middle of january,

and we're looking at highs today in the upper 60s. hasn't been this warm since 2014 when we had a lot of new records set, but remember, when we were in that very severe drought at that time we are looking at some warm weather again this time around and we are going to be very close to some of those numbers. i don't think we'll see a lot of those records set, but we have a lot more days like this in the forecast. check out san jose and the seven-day forecast where we stay in the 70s through at least the holiday and then going into next week we'll have a cool down, but still no rain here. as we look at the seven-day forecast, upper 60s, low 70s, up to 70 degrees on sunday. martin luther king day looking nice as well as we reach to the upper 60s in the inland valleys. let's head over to you vianey, any issues for the morning commute? >> it's been well so far, but i did notice something just as we were coming to this report, that looks like it could be what

brewing in the gop's effort to recall governor gavin newsom. shortly after the capitol riot, california,'s democratic party chair insinuated far right extremists are behind the recall referring to it as a coup attempt. the gop is firing back calling it a dangerous and desperate act and further signs newsom needs to go. other leading democrats were apparently a little taken back by the original statement. several people had to deal with allergic reactions to moderna's vaccine at san diego's new vaccination super station. that led to an hour-long delay for people waiting for that vaccine. health leaders say six people had allergic reactions. so the site swapped the vaccines it was using for a new batch. listen to one health care worker who immediately knew something was wrong. >> i have no idea what it looked like, but the second i said something about my ear, they all like sprung into action and they
