bay area but our storm ranger is tracking an incoming storm set to slam parts of the bay area. meteorologist kari hall is issuing a microclimate weather alert and timing out what we can expect as "today in the bay" starts right now. good monday morning. hope you had a great weekend. i'm laura garcia. >> i'm kris sanchez. marcus washington will join us in our next hour. first kari hall is tracking more rain. >> yes, we are seeing our next storm approaching. this will not be anything compared to what we had last week, but the ground is already wet and we are going to see am additional rainfall causing a few more problems out there especially as we head out late tonight into tomorrow and temperatures a little bit cooler in the north bay where that rain arrives first and we'll see our high temperatures there reaching into the mid-50s but some mid-60s for the south bay as wee looking to see that rain until later on this evening. as we go through the time line once again, rain first moving into the north bay, later this

afternoon, and then spreading in as we head into this evening so we'll talk about impacts coming up in a few minutes. mike is here early this monday morning for the commute. >> when you say impact i worry about a different kind. not really any of those on the blotter here. we're looking a a live shot of the bay bridge toll plaza, dry pavement changing today but right now a smooth drive. the map scholes the same thing where the arrow is throughout the north bay. there is a small crash near the dublin interchange but so far it's easy. >> thank you, mike. an amusement park seems like a distant memory but not for long. great america has a reopening date coming up in may. >> the first amusement park in california to do so. here's "today in the bay's" sergio quintana. >> reporter: large amusement parks like great america can open once the county they're in

reaches the yellow tier, the least restricted level in the state's coronavirus guidelines. some amusement park fans say a start date is good, even if it feels a bit too soon. >> it's quite aggressive, if not may, they have to have a target so if doesn't work in may, perhaps june and july. >> reporter: great america's target opening day is may 22nd. the park will have limited capacity to ensure property social distancing. masks will be required. customer also go through thermal screening at the entrance to check turnstiles will be touchless, open by scanning tickets. >> i'd love to see us moving at a faster face. >> reporter: an epidemiologist says the reopening plan comes at a tough time. >> i think we are in the early faster pace with more comprehensive ever couldage more equitable to all kinds of communities. >> reporter: amusement parks in

the uk variant and the brazilian variant right here in the bay area, both are believed to be more contagious. we have some new video show you this morning of in san diego county. it opened for the first time over the weekend and will operate every sunday through thursday. the county says its goal is to vaccinate between 250 and 1,000 people per day. while there are some speed bumps in the vaccine rollout between saturday and sunday, another 200,000 californians got their first dose of the vaccine. more than 3.4 million shots have now been administered in our state. today jury duty is back. jury selection and trials will begin today in santa clara both criminal and civil cases. as you can expect, changes have been made, fewer jurors will be called to court at the same time and social distancing protocols will be in place. the county's clerk's office remains closed until further notice.

a very good monday morning to you. taking a live look outside, look at the bay bridge all illuminated. so nice and clear, and we're coming off a great weekend. >> it's a beautiful weekend. >> and it's monday. it really was. it was nice. it was still kind of cool a little bit but nice and it got a little break from the rain. i planted a lot of flowers, kari, so i'm ready for the water. >> ooh, oh, nice. yes, that was a good weekend to do that because we have some more rain on the way, and it's also going to be not as cool as we've seen recently, warming up over the next few days. as we await the next storm system coming in, we have storm ranger powered up and ready to track it as it rolls into the

bay area. first starting in the north bay, and we can see the scattered showers across the state right now even some light snow coming down into the southern sierra, as some of the heavier rain moves in from the north but this will not be anywhere near as strong as the storm system last week but the ground is already wet, so we'll have to monitor as that rain starts to fall and see the impacts we could see from that. as we go through the time line, early in the afternoon going into this evening we start to see more activity on the radar, and then at about 10:00 tonight interest may be heavier rain moving into san francisco a approaching parts of the east bay but already seeing that rain for several hours and by the time we wake up tomorrow and get ready to head out for the morning commute there will still be scattered showers and looks like that rain could tomorrow and then start to taper off ver,

we're looking at a tenth to quarter inch of rain but there may be some spots getting about a half inch of rain and that will most likely be in parts of the north bay where we see heavier downpours initially moving in. for the sierra, we could see another foot to possibly two feet of snow over the next couple of days, so it's been good to add up on some of those snowfall totals and hoping to get caught up with the normal amount of snow that we see at this point. the rest of the week is going to be dry, but notice those temperatures warming up, and laura, this is going to be the perfect opportunity for all of your new seedlings to come out of the ground as they feel the warmer air. mike, what does it look like for the morning commute? >> well, looks calm and we like to see that, kari but we've got your note about the changes and we'll keep that in min roadways. the map shows you green sensors pretty much everywhere as we talk about lighter traffic easing into the work week.

a placer county man did not die because of getting the covid-19 vaccine. it was not a contributing factor to his passing. the 64-year-old health care worker died last month just hours after getting an injection, deputies say the man. some people in los angeles reportedly suggesting police showed a double standard when dealing with anti-vaccine and far right protesters saturday at dodger stadium. the group halted vaccines for about an hour and left on their own after a warning from police to disperse. critics say officers showed too much restraint in light of the protests last summer but the small group followed orders and broke no laws. also, no appointments were canceled. happening today, the dmv will resume in-person driving tests. behind the wheel tests were postponed december 14th, previously postponed test also be automatically rescheduled. the dmv will be sending out
