uncensored thoughts at the school board meeting. they did not realize the meeting was being streamed live and the parents caught again the uncensored thoughts. now that hot mic situation played out during the livestream of the meeting, and at one point you could hear the board president requesting parents wanted the in-person classes to resume because they wanted their child care back. another member was heard cursing when discussing some of the responses on social media to the return to school. take a listen to what parents heard as the oakley school board members were caught on that hot mic. >> are we alone? >> yes. >> okay, [ bleep ] if you're going to call me out, i'm going to [ bleep ] you up. >> it's really unfortunate. they want to pick on us because they want their babysitters back. >> reporter: right now the parents are reacting, a parent we spoke with said she was shocked by what she heard. another parent so concerned about the livestream they

"today in the bay's" tracie potts is live in washington to break down the possible impact for immigrants seeking citizenship. tracie? >> and i know that's a big deal in california. lots of people waiting to see what if anything the president and the democratic congress can get done. they unveiled this plan yesterday. the hallmark is a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants in this country. the plan includes an eight-year path to citizenship for what's predicted to be or expected to be as many as 11 million undocumented immigrants. it would apply to those who arrived in america before

"l.a. times" reports she will not be attending any public events, but plans to handle some personal business including packing up some belongings. new efforts by oakland police to build connections with the asian-american community. it comes in the wake of recent spikes in violent attacks. yesterday opd introduced a new asian community liaison officer mae fu. her goal is to create a safe place for the community to report crimes or talk to her directly. at the same time, the "east bay times" reports walgreens and target are paying overtime costs to opd to boost protection.

the department was already allowing officers to work overtime at home depot stores. contra costa county teachers the latest to get the green light for covid vaccines. the signup window open for the county's 16,000 school workers at all levels. some districts have already resumed in-class learning for lower grades, including san ramon valley. one high school teacher there with prior health conditions just got the first shot. she says she's still teaching remotely. >> i hope that everybody is really taking the precautions, we all kind of are committing to taking and i hope that there's some semblance of normal but i know it's going to be so different. >> teachers and counties including marin and sonoma have been vaccinating teachers for weeks. other bay area counties have yet to start. santa clara county plans to begin vaccinating teachers february 28th. a follow-up starting today, cal students can do something they've been unable to do for weeks, exercise outside. it comes after a campus wide

lockdown was lifted following the most recent covid outbreak. since last september, nearly 800 students living on campus have tested positive. a new road block this morning in the long awaited return of san francisco's iconic cable cars. that line shut down shortly after the pandemic took hold nearly one year ago. and "the examiner requestis reporting restoring service will be "more complicated than bringing back any of the other muni lines." the nearly 150-year-old cars require specialized training and are expensive to operate and let's face it, the tours are still nowhere to be found. muni says more essential lines will be brought back first. now a live look outside at the san francisco skyline this morning. a cool start as we head into parts. meteorologist kari hall timing out just what is in store for us so we can make some plans to, you know, maybe visit the backyard instead of the front.

>> right? we are going to see some low clouds starting out this morning, and all of the light showers that we're seeing right now. we're watching it on storm ranger, and it's a morning where you have to drive to work with cars splashing up water and turning on the windshield wipers, parts of the city, the east bay and fremont light showers coming down and then as we take a live look outside in dublin, here it's still dry but we'll see some rain within the next hour or so, continuing into at least 6:00, and then we'll see a mostly cloudy sky, as our temperatures remain in the 50s throughout much ofrng. we'll talk about what's ahead this weekend, that's coming up in a few minutes. mike, any problems popping up for the friday morning commute? >> it's just that rain, kari, that we're talking about, that's the problem folks will have to teal with as they get out there. as we look outside the speeds are just fine on the sensors. one disturbing report, northbound car going on the

the grass and then before you know it, the rain is out of here. let me show you what's happening on storm ranger, as we're tracking some of those light showers moving through marin county, extending down to san francisco, the peninsula, at least along the coastline, and parts of the east bay, but it's been so hit or miss, and the rain is very light, but storm ranger showing us exactly where it's raining right now, as we look at richmond, moving over toward danville. livermore as well as fremont getting some light rain, and if you are planning to head out to the park today in spots like el cebrane, maybe later in the morning. there will be light rain moving through, a cloudy sky and temperatures reaching into the mid-50s for a while. this rain passing by is mostly for morning hours as kro the bay area. we'll have a lot of clouds today and peeks of sunshine but

tomorrow morning another chance of showers passing by. 2:00 in the morning seeing rain moving through parts of t sky c i think we'll get much more sunshine by tomorrow afternoon. so two waves of rain passing by and looks to bring us 0.1 to 0.25 of an inch of rain, not as much as we need. if you're planning to head to the sierra this weekend, squaw valley and pine meadow also have slick roads today but better travel conditions tomorrow. i would bring the tire chains and they're looking at in the upper mountains still 100 inches of snow on the ground. so that's pretty good, and we'll get some additional light snow for today, anywhere from 5 to 8 inches and we go to more dry weather at only in across the sierra but here in the bay area and look at how much warmer it's

doses. this one not your average aloha. two arriving in hawaii are accused of bribing a honolulu airport screener to bypass rules. the authority offered $3,000 to pass through without having to quarantine. the employee did not take the money and instead notified authorities. after being arrested and released, they got a one-way ticket back to their home in louisiana. new details this morning, according to sf gate the north bay restaurant that closed after in sonoma closed from backlash after a worker said she felt pressured to quit for wearing a black lives matter mask at work. she claims management says she would be sent home if she wore the mask again so she quit instead. the restaurant later issued an apology. it reopened for outdoor dining

viable, but that could soon change. in the last two hours or so, pfizer announced that it submitted new data to the fda showing that the vaccine can be kept stable in pharmaceutical freezers and refrigerators, much more commonly available, not just in a research lab situation. the company says this would make transportation and distribution a little more flexible. meanwhile, on february 26th, the fda will review johnson & johnson's request for emergency use approval for its vaccine. but the company is reportedly now considering recommending two doses of the vaccine instead of one. >> whether they do or not is not going to affect doses we're going to get. >> reporter: if that's true, that would be very good news because the rush is on to vaccinate people as infectious disease specialists are warning that the new variants could derail progress to contain the virus in particular that variant first identified in south africa and now detected in nevada.

behind me here in downtown livermore and other ones throughout the bay area to reopen indoor dining but in a limited capacity at roughly 25%. this is as case rates here in the bay area have dropped by anywhere from 55% to 73%. we've seen those kinds of drops since january and that depends on which county you live in. as "the chronicle" reports this morning, california is the only state in the country to still ban indoor dining, with the exception of a few rural counties in our state. even though california is doing better than some of those states when it comes to covid, the paper cites national restaurant association data that shows some of the states that do allow indoorin in some sort of capacity have higher case rates than california. restaurants have suffered during the pandemic, especially during the holidays, when governor newsom issued that stay-at-home. back in december, bloomberg reported that more than 110,000 restaurants have closed down permanently or long-term as a result of this pandemic, that's

lock at that forecast for us today. kari, how is it looking out there? >> hey, it's still cold as we look at what's happening in texas, and elsewhere across the country, and wow, those single-digit temperatures continue. it's been that way all week long. for us, it feels a lot milder and we have some light rain coming through. storm ranger tracking it for us, that's our mobile doppler radar in the red scan that you're seeing there, gives us a very high level of detail view of what's happening and exactly where that rain is falling. so we are seeing some light, spotty showers in marin county and san francisco. moving over toward parts of the east bay near concord and fremont, and we're also seeing some light rain right now around milpitas and san jose, so this is what you'll see as you get ready to head out the door, and mike, we need to slow down if you're driving to work this morning. >> absolutely, kari, because this is also what you'll see if you're driving through oakland. the bay bridge toll plaza camera again getting hit with the rain. it's not that heavy but it is sticking on the roadways, of

sjsu announcing monday on its website all baseball activities are paused because of safety concerns regarding covid-19 and student athlete conduct. the team is scheduled to return to play on march 27th, but the series against san diego state. francisco. hit or miss showers as you travel along parts of the east bay on 680, and we've also seen some of the rain in the south bay. now just south of san jose on 101. so that's something that may affect your morning commute. as far as your plans for today, most likely you won't encounter a lot of that rain, if you're headed out to the pork in spots like el sobrante, at 10:00, very light rain but a lot of clouds for today and our temperatures reaching into the upper 50s. we will have one more shot of some rain tomorrow morning, but we are looking at some drier conditions for the afternoon, going out for dinner, and any outdoor activities, looking pretty good for today. tomorrow morning, it is going to be still wet in some spots, with some showers moving through, but look at how early it's going to be, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00 in the morning, as the rain passes by and then the rest of the day is looking nice and sunny, so we'll

nursing home resident nellie oder says she's seen it all and the secret living long is listening to her doctor like she did when she got that vaccine. she'll be turning 106 in a couple of weeks. so 105 to 90 years old. this one is looking great, too, 90-year-old fran goldman of seattle walked six miles to receive her first shot this week. a snowstorm made it impossible for her to get her vaccination any other way. so off she went. >> well, after the shot, you have to wait 15 minutes to make sure you have no reaction to it, and the person said you'll have to sit and wait until such and such a time. i said i'll be delighted to sit and wait. i've just been walking for an hour, and she said oh, sit as long as you want. >> it was three miles to the vaccination site and then three miles back home.
