highway 24 is outside of lanes, on the shoulder, no worries. back to you. breaking news, a death investigation outside a strip mall in contra costa county on concord avenue near the concord airport. we just got video in to our newsroom, a large crime scene is roped off. a lot of police there as the investigation continues this morning. we've contacted concord police but they've not released any information on the investigation. bob redell will join us at 5:30. millions of doses of the johnson & johnson vaccine expect to be shipped. the fda authorized the vaccine for emergency use over the weekend, the first single dose vaccine and much easier to ship and store and can be kept in a refrigerator rather than a freezer. johnson & johnson expects to ship 100 million doses by the

middle of the year, enough to vaccinate nearly a third of americans. hundreds of workers who received the covid-19 vaccine didn't have to go fa are to get it. "today in the bay's" marianne favro has efforts in the south bay on efforts to reach communities often overlooked. >> reporter: here in morgan hill people were bustling dining outdoors. for those who helped supply the food to the businesses it was an important day, the day the covid vaccine came to them. santa clara county launched its first pop-up vaccination clinic focused on farm workers who just became eligible for the covid vaccine. >> i can tell you today is the happiest day i have had since last month. >> reporter: the setup is part of a partnership with united farm workers. some workers even got the shot during their work breaks. long time monterey mushrooms

employee rojillo lonis says "as farmers we're affected by the pandemic and we're glad the county is worried about the farm workers." an estimated 1,000 farm worker also receive covid vaccines during two mobile clinic this is week. health leaders say it's critical to vaccinate farm workers because of the pandemic's toll only their communities, where death rates are high. the fda's approval of the new johnson & johnson one-shot covid vaccine may help even more farm workers get vaccinated. >> where you have say farm worker its or seasonal temp workers going from site to site and may not be around in three to four weeks when their second dose is due, a single dose vaccine makes a lot of sense. >> dozens of teachers also rolled up their sleeves and received a covid shot at the county fairgrounds in san jose. they're part of the next tier, eligible to get the vaccine. together, both clinics are

bringing the county one step closer to achieving hurd immunity. in morgan hill, marian favro, "nbc bay area news." this is a helpful website, called plan your vaccine. you go to the site, you select your state, occupation, age, then the site pulls up the closest vaccination sites and your eligibility. go to planyourvaccine.com. several bay area counties hoping to move from the state's most restrictive purple tier to the red tier this week. only ma arin and san mateo counties are in the red tier right now. getting there is based on two things, positivity rate, this is the percentage of people testing positive, and case rate. let's look at the south bay for you right now, santa clara county, the health leaders there expect for the red tier tomorrow. you see it down there. that move in the county's red tier will have fewer than seven cases per 100,000 people. the county's case rate right now

a very good monday morning to you, first day of march as well. looks quiet at the golden gate bridge. still pretty early. maybe folks easing into their monday morning as they ease out of really a great weekend. it was beautiful across the bay area. kari it's got a look at our forecast. we'll check that morning commute. looks kind of light right now but i'm not the expert, mike. we'll leave that to you. right now, kari, it's all you. >> you call it march 1st. i call it the first day of meteorological spring, and we're looking forward to some more nice weather, but also we do need some rain. we'll talk about that in a second. let's get you out the door with a look live at the commute headed through the tri-valley, much of the east bay starting out with cold temperatures, upper 30s right now so make sure you're wearing a heavier coat and you may also be using the heat inside the car. the rest of the day temperatures

turning milder by 11:00, in the low 60s. home schooling today in pleasanton, expect temperatures 52 degrees by 9:00 and the trend heading back into the upper 60s with all of that sunshine today, in fact all of us across the bay area are going to have some mild weather, reaching into the upper 60s and most of us seeing those upper 60s while there will still be low 60s near the coastline with half moon bay reaching 60 and san francisco reaching 62 today. okay, so we know it's been super dry, in fact, last month was the seventh driest on record for the month, and now we look at how much rain we need to catch up to normal for the water year and santa rosa needs over 17 inches of rain just to catch up to normal. so we look at these other numbers and it's six inches of rain for san jose, ten inches for san francisco, that is a lot of rain and we have this area of low pressure that's going to

stay off the coast, high pressure moving in but finally toward the weekend there will be a weather system coming in that could bring scattered showers and there may be more behind that. the climate prediction center says there's an equal chance for near-average rainfall but of course we need above average rainfall to catch up to those numbers we were just looking at. and it's dry all throughout the week. saturday is a slight chance of rain we'll see. of course we'll continue to keep an eye on that. mike, what are you watching right now for the morning commute? >> i'm watching the chances of rain but for this morning we're looking at a smooth, easy drive so far. new incident in contra costa county, call it out here, green sensors all sides of the bay along the water there, no major issues. getting toward other water, outside discovery bay, brentwood highway 4 reports of a car that went into someone's home.

that." california governor gavin newsom coming under fire after critics come down on his latest photo-op shot inside a restaurant. on friday he visited a restaurant in fresno with actor george lopez, the pair posed for photos and video. critics took their shots on social media accuing the governor of violaing his covid rules on indoor dining. he was only there to highlight small business financial relief and the two never sat down. >> the french bulldogs were stolen of lady gaga, doctors say he is expected to make a full recovery. as for the two dogs returned by a woman who found them tied up in an alley. it's not yet clear if that woman will receive the $500,000 reward lady gaga was offering. new details this morning in

a show of support from fellow golfers for tiger woods on his ongoing recovery after last week's rollover crash. in yesterday's final round of the wgc workday championship, many golfers wore red. we know tiger so well. that's his trademark shirts on sunday. colin morikawa won that event, not wearing red, but woods later tweeted from his hospital room "it's hard to explain how touching today was when i turned on the tv and saw all the red shirts. to every golfer and every fan, you are truly helping me get through this tough time." that's a really cool tribute. well, there was an awards show last night unlike any other. >> you won't even notice. >> coming up next on "today in the bay," the technical difficulties at the golden globes, the winners and the moments many people are still talking about this morning. we'll recap it all.

happening now, the philippines launching its vaccination campaign. however, the country is dealing with supply problems. among the first to be vaccinated in six hospitals in manila were cabinet officials, lawmakers military police and personnel. china is donating thousands of doses of the vaccine to the philippines. the philippines is among the last in southeast asia to receive the first batch of vaccines due to delivery delays. we'll be right back.
