"early today" starts right now >> we have got so much to tell you about as we kick off a new week, but we begin with that royal rift that's now growing even wider prince harry and meghan markle sitting down with oprah winfrey for their first lengthy interview. the couple opened up about the pressure of being under the microscope and how they were treated by buckingham palace what are some of the biggest revelations we've heard from meghan and harry

>> reporter: let's start with the good news. we knew meghan and harry were expecting a second child we now know that second child is a girl, so that's a little sister for baby archie the couple also revealed three days before that fairy tail wedding at windser castle, the one watched by millions of people around the world they got married in secret in their own backyard what's getting attention around the u.k. and the world are the painful parts of this. one element is race. the couple said when meghan was pregnant with archie an unnamed royal insider expressed concern about how dark the baby's skin would be, which is obviously really shocking if true. meghan also talks about feeling unprotected by the royal family in the face of all this media scrutiny, having nowhere to turn to for support and at times having suicidal thoughts take a listen. >> in those months when i was pregnant all around the same

basically felt he had no choice to do this to protect himself, to protect meghan. i should say we have reached out to buckingham palace for response on this they have not yet come back to us british media reported the queen did not watch this interview, but you can be sure her advisers did. >> and i'm sure we'll be hearing about the after shocks long after. all right, thank you new york governor andrew cuomo who's in the mid-est of a sexual harassment scandal is standing his ground and refusing to step down even as more accusers come forward. over the weekend two more former female aides allege he was physically inappropriate with them cuomo has denied harassing women and said he was sorry for how his behavior made them feel. and now dozens of fellow democrats are calling for his resignation. wnbc's adam harding has the latest >> reporter: a defiant governor cuomo announcing he won't step down even as calls for his resignation are growing louder with his political future

hanging in the balance members of his own party have turned against him. the state senate majority leader saying we need to govern without daily distraction. for the good of the state governor cuomo must resign the assembly speaker adding, i think it's time for the governor to seriously consider whether he can effectively meet the needs of the people of new york. >> i was elected by the people of the state i wasn't elected by politicians. >> reporter: in an interview with news 4 former consultant carol hinten says hud secretary andrew cuomo made a pass at her in a california room back in 2000 >> he started asking me questions. i was uncomfortable with that conversation, so i stood up to leave, and he walked across from his couch and embraced me intimately >> reporter: the governor's press team firing back saying this did not happen. karen hinten is a known antagonist of the governor's who

is attempting to take advantage of this moment to score cheap points with made up allegations from 21 years ago. >> ms. hinten, every woman has a right to come forward. that's true, but the truth also matters. what you said is not true. >> reporter: her response, truth is the long time adversary that cuomo fears the most hinten is one of five women to allege inappropriate behavior. this weekend former aide ana list told "the wall street journal" the governor touched her back and kissed her hand accusers linda boylan tweeting, yes, i'm proud of all the women who have come forward and those who have helped us do so >> the allegations of each of the women has to be taken seriously. they're deeply troubling women have to be listened to >> reporter: but the state's naacp president says calls for cuomo's resignation are premature as the attorney general continues her investigation into the claims.
