and here we go, thursday morning. taking a live look in san francisco as we get started. hey, there's some rain across the bay area. stay tuned because kari has a look when you can expect that rain in your area. speaking of that rain, starting out, kari, i can say on the way in there was no rain for me. so clear and cool this morning. >> it is just now starting to get to the south bay. yeah, we're going to see at least for your drive to work looking dry. now going back home probably not so much. as we get a look at storm ranger it does show where the storm is mostly over parts of the east bay. can you see the south bay still dry, and the north bay had the rain earlier this morning, so the roads are still wet and we're seeing some of that moving
4:48 am
further off to the east as we get a closer look where we see the yellows and the reds that shows where some of the heavier rain now is. at least it's off 680 and moving over the hills. at times we'll see heavy rain falling. it's going to just be off and on today as the storm system passes by, it does bring in much-needed showers. and it's going to mostly be light for much of the bay area. we can see how much of the state is covered in rain. still the center of the storm off the coast. this will take a while before it works its way through. the good thing is if you do have allergies you're probably really in with some bad symptoms right now. but the rain today will help clear things out and so we're seeing pine, oak and cedar really high. as the rain continues to move in we will see that pollen get washed out of the air at least temporarily. as we go hour by hour, by late morning we're seeing some of the heavier rain in parts of the north bay.
4:49 am
the south bay getting in on the heavier rain this afternoon. once again it's just going to be off and on throughout the day, even early tomorrow there will be a slight chance of rain but the north bay will have a chance of some lingering showers while the rest of the bay area clears out by tomorrow afternoon. rainfall totals mostly about half an inch of rain or less for much of the bay area but, of course, as we look at our rainfall deficits we do need a lot of rain here and the little quarter to half inch of rain just won't cut it but we'll take every little bit of rain we can get because the rest of the forecast is looking dry. we were watching out for a slight chance of rain on monday but now it looks like that's not going to happen. so we will enter into an extended period of some dry weather as our temperatures warm up for the middle of next week. mike, watching out on the roads this morning the slick conditions. of course people want to have a heads-up about that. >> that's right. some of us are just trying to do the best we can, waking up and

then getting in the car. we'll have slicker roadways like we see at the bay bridge. you see the sheen in the parking lot. you can see the flags flapping around. no major advisories from chp. just note that as we look at the map. the bay bridge itself has a smooth drive. the richmond bridge folks are getting across over to the san quentin side, a big rig blocks one lane and 880 another big rig there from another issue there. no major injuries and no major slowing. it's the green highlighting, slicker roads. back to you. >> thanks, mike. hayward leaders have approved a financial settlement and a lawsuit tied to a deadly police shooting. november of 2018, 29-year-old gonzalez died. officers later determined he rushed them with a razor blade that they mistook to be a knife. they were cleared of any wrongdoing, but his family filed a civil suit citing the tactics that they used. yesterday councilmembers
