adverse events are extremely wear and the pause is out of an abundance of caution. >> tens and tens of millions of people received vaccine with no adverse effect this is a a really rare event. if you look at what we have done so far, 6 out of 6.85 doses which is less than 1 in a million. >> reporter: still they say call your doctor if you have severe headache, leg pain, abdominal pain, shortness of breath within three weeks. in a statement johnson & johnson says as of now no causal events exist between the pause and the vaccine. >> we have more than enough supply of pfizer and moderna vaccines to continue the current pace of about 3 million shots per day. >> reporter: reassuring comments as dozens of states see cases

rising michigan among those with a new wave pushing hospitals to their limits trying to convince hesitant americans that the benefits of the vaccine out weigh any potential risks. susan mcginnis, nbc news, washington. new yorkers waiting to get the johnson & johnson vaccine are facing a major set back. raheem ma ellis has the story. >> reporter: good morning, phillip. there is a lot of concern for people who wanted to get their johnson & johnson vaccine and then they found out it was no longer possible. folks coming here to the javits center showed up concerned, confused about what would happen and then they found out. listen to what one woman said to me hesitant about what would be happening going forward and then listen to what she said on how it all turned out for her. >> i was weary and confused this

morning because i didn't know what was going on. i took it to my own hands to find a pfizer appointment. i wish it would have been organized faster. >> reporter: state officials say anyone who had a johnson & johnson vaccine here for the javits center, they can come in at their appointed time and be vaccinated with a pfizer vaccine. the city is doing something a bit different. they say those with appointments for the johnson & johnson vaccine, they will be notified of being rescheduled for another appointment. all in all the city and the state are both saying the same thing and that is this, there's enough vaccine available in at least this state and the city of new york for anyone who wants a vaccination, they can get one. phillip. >> good news for new yorkers thanks. let's turn to minnesota where protests continue over the death of daunte wright upwards of 60 people were arrested overnight people trying to bring down the

fencing around the police department and throwing bricks and bottles at officers. there are curfews in effect around the twin cities and more than 2,000 minnesota national guard members have been activated. the officer who shot 20-year-old daunte wright during a traffic stop has resigned. ron allen has more. >> reporter: the officer who fired the fatal shot and the city's police chief both resigned over growing outrage. kim potter with 26 years on the force saying it was in the best interests of the community for her to resign immediately. >> i'm hoping that this will help bring some calm to the community. >> reporter: prosecutors say they're likely to decide whether to file criminal charges it follows a second night of confrontation. hundreds of protesters face-to-face with police outside of their fortified headquarters. >> we need the police to stand down.

>> reporter: most violating curfew stores looted. police using tear gas and rubber bullets to clear the area after they say coming under attack. >> say his name. >> daunte wright. >> reporter: for daunte wright's family, another day of grief in solidarity with george floyd's family. >> i never imagined this is what was happening. i thought he was being arrested. >> reporter: denying justice calling the incident an accident with the officer mistakenly using the firearm instead of her taser. >> i just shot him >> police have not revealed the exact weapons the officers carried but guns and tasers typically used look and feel very different the family's attorney says there was no reason to use a weapon. wright was stopped for an expired vehicle tag and officers found he had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. >> they could have given him a ticket when there's black people they do the most excessive use of
