right now at 4:30, johnson & johnson vaccinations resume in the bay area, but will you take it. >> if it's out there, i'd trust the experts on it, you know? so i trust the doctors who actually put it out there and do the research. >> i would have some concerns and i would try to see what my other options are. >> coming up, which bay area counties are getting the j&j shot and which are still waiting and what they're waiting for. i actually happened to be out and about when at least it was coming down a little bit more than average, kari. >> yes, so it was very hit or miss, and instead of overperforming, just like all of the other storms we've had this season. it was kind of a disappointment for many, and we are now seeing the snow winding down for the sierra and the rain pushing to the south of the bay area, but there's still a slight chance that parts of the north bay could see a little bit of rain later on this afternoon. as we get a live look outside at the bay bridge, as you're waking up and heading out, 62 degrees for a high and we're going to see those temperaturs staying on the cool side today. we'll in a few minutes. mike, how is the commute moving? >> it's moving great. the roadway is not as big a concern as we thought they might be looking at the storm system. highway 4 an easy drive past 680

the shot and again, sonoma county was the only bay area county not part of that joint statement issued yesterday. we've reached out to health leaders for more information this morning. more than 1 million more vaccine doses are headed to california this week, this includes more than 575,000 doses of pfizer, 428,000 doses of moderna. but because the nationwide pause on the j&j vaccine, so far the cdc hasn't allocated any of those doses for the state this week. california's last j&j shipment came on april 12th. there's new data showing how many millions of americans are skipping out on their second vaccination shot. according to the "new york times," the cdc data shows about 8% of those who get the first pfizer/moderna shot did not receive their follow-up shot. that amounts to 5 million people. others fear the side effects and others feel one shot gives them

counties. speaking of the drought, talking about the rain we had this weekend, hit and miss like you were saying. another thing i was thinking about coming in this morning, i saw a full moon. i know we're not talking about the moon but i thought it was beautiful. just wanted to mention it. >> the sky is clearing. yes, let's talk about some of those rainfall totals that we had from mt. tam, where we have the highest amount of rain, about a half inch of rain there in the berkeley hills, 0.4 of an inch. some of us got a downpour like san ramon, a quarter inch. not much in san francisco, a tenth of an inch, in san jose a few sprinkles and it was such a disappointment but it was so typical of all we've had this year, so now as we go into some drier weather, where temperatures stay on the cool side today, mostly some low 60s today, so keep that jacket handy. we'll talk about where we could still see some rain in the forecast, that's coming up in a few minutes. mike, how is it looking right

now for the commute? probably dry for most. >> kari, yes, it's a pleasant commute. we were worried about perhaps that so folks were waking up ready for in a. you got the update. the update of the bay bridge as we travel westbound, the tail lights section headed toward treasure island around or perhaps in the tunnel there, there may be a disabled vehicle in the middle lane. chp updated there, no problem for the flow here and on the map the speed sensors don't show a problem either. we'll track that and easy drive around the bay as you would expect this time of morning. as we get a look over here toward the rest of the speed sensors, there we go, the bay shows no lay its for the south bay or peninsula and it's the altamont pass where we typically see slowing and there we go, bottom of your screen under 20 minutes, easy drive once you get to grant line road, things speed back up to the limit, same thing for highway 4, antioch bridge toward concord and highway 4. back to you. >> thanks so much. it is early this morning, 4:38. getting back to school, coming up on "today in the bay," a

4:48 am
here we are at 5:30, and we're starting to see some of those showers popping up over some of our north bay mountains that may move into some areas where we do have a lot more of the cities and the populated areas, and then it just kind of winds down for tonight. so we are looking at mostly a north bay chance of rain and then that's it, the rest of us stay dry. we're taking a look at where we average on average see most of our rainfall, and this shows a chart of where we see the most of the rainfall, of course in january is our wettest month. february we start to see it going down. here we are in april, where we are still kind of in transition between the wet season and the dry season. we do normally get quite a bit of rain, but it continues to go down, and our chances of getting any rainfall after this point are really low. now that we look at our rainfall deficits, of course we are holding out a little bit of hope that this recent rainfall could bring us a little bit in the rainfall bucket, but as we look
4:49 am
at our rainfall deficits, we are now at 21 inches of rainfall deficit, that's just to catch up to normal in santa rosa. so we are in for some extremely dry weather, and we're going to see more of the dry weather heading into the next several days. as our temperatures heat up we're going from winter to summer all in the course of a few days. by thursday in the mid 80s and look at the temperatures for the weekend at least it does cool down slightly. we'll continue to watch that as well as the north bay rain chances. mike, what are you keeping an eye on for the commute? >> winter to summer to spring commute and the temperatures we're watching the bay bridge because of the issue reported mid span. no disturbance to the flow, no brake lights west toward the tunnel. we're still concerned about the report that chp has of a disabled vehicle inside the treasure island tunnel, but no one confirmed that chp confirmed
