could accept a cease fire potentially today but more likely tomorrow as israel continues to resist calls to stop its offensive brushing aside u.s. calls for deescalation, israel kept up its assault on gaza overnight destroying what it described as hamas military infrastructure. but pressure is growing on israel to stop after health officials in gaza say around 230 palestinians have been killed and more than 1,600 injured. president biden spoke again with israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu, and according to the white house, said he expected a significant deescalation on the path to a cease fire netanyahu responded that the military campaign would go forward until it's finished, and on hamas. that's always an open possibility, or you can deter them and we are engaged right now in forceful deterrence

>> reporter: hamas fired more rockets toward israel and says every israeli escalation will be met with a hamas escalation. but covering this conflict has been challenging, unlike in previous rounds, israel has not allowed foreign journalists into gaza hamas has imposed no such restrictions this is as far as we've been able it get. gaza is about three miles down that road, but police have been stopping us and all journalists saying that everything from here to gaza is a closed military zone. many palestinians say israel doesn't want more of the world's attention focused on the appalling humanitarian conditions in gaza, which is run by hamas. israel doesn't allow palestinians to leave gaza even while it's under attack. >> he talks about the time line, richard, of a possible cease fire. any indication on what the terms of an agreement might be? would it be a lasting cease fire? >> reporter: a lasting cease fire, probably not, but the

terms are starting to take shape. it would be stopping violence in exchange for stopping violence. israel would stop targeting hamas leaders. israel would stop its attacks on the gaza strip. in exchange hamas would stop firing rockets. israel also wants hamas to stop digging tunnels. hamas also wants more access, more humanitarian access to the gaza strip, and we just spoke to a representative from unicef who told us the group has trucks that are waiting and willing to go into gaza to bring supplies, but they are unable to, and among those supplies, 10,000 covid vaccines. savannah. >> richard, thank you very much. also this morning, a federal civil rights investigation is underway in louisiana looking into the death of a black man at the hands of police. it happened back in 2019, and now newly obtained body cam video shows that deadly encounter. nbc national correspondent miguel almaguer has the story. >> reporter: good morning, ronald green's family tells me

including his children i really believe that donald trump cares for only himself, and he realizes that his goose is cooked. >> the new york a.g. investigation remains primarily a civil investigation. no criminal charges have been filed against the former president. all seven defendants in the hazing death of an ohio college student pleaded not guilty yesterday to charges in connection with the death. stone foelts died in march he was allegedly forced to drink an entire bottle of alcohol. the charges range from first degree manslaughter to hazing. pre-trial hearings are set for july. now to some dramatic video that shows a massive explosion at a california home it happened in the city of martinez, this is northeast of san francisco. officials say it was all triggered by three juveniles playing with fire in a nearby patch of grass a home and about a half dozen

cars were destroyed. thankfully, and perhaps surprisingly, no one was hurt. we're moving now to new developments in a disturbing kidnapping attempt in florida. >> yeah, police have now arrested and charged a man they say tried to snatch an 11-year-old girl while she was waiting for the school bus as you can see, the entire attack was captured on camera. well, now the young victim is sharing her story with nbc's kerry sanders, and she is a heroic little girl kerry, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. you know, for 11-year-old alyssa, what started out as a normal day at the school bus stop, quickly turned into a nightmare. as you just noted, someone tried to grab her, but thanks to her incredible gumption and her quick thinking with a toy she had in hand, a suspect was easily identified. >> reporter: just hours after this disturbing kidnap attempt unfolded in florida, deputies were able to find the man they say is responsible, all thanks to an unexpected clue.

>> i was able to -- upper arm. >> 11-year-old alyssa told me she was mixing blue paint into homemade slime tuesday morning while waiting for the school bus to arrive. shortly after, this shocking surveillance video released by authorities shows a white vehicle driving up to a nearby corner, a man suddenly jumps out and starts to charge alyssa. >> the man got out of his vehicle holding a knife, came towards me, and i tried to run but he caught me >> reporter: as alyssa turns to run, the attacker grabs her and tries to drag her back towards the car, but she fought back, and both fell to the ground. the man quickly flees back to the suv and speeds away. authorities say that man is 30-year-old jared paul stanga, now charged with attempted kidnapping with a child under 13

tahini sauce it tastes fe nophenomenal it's great, you use that for post meal digestion, and it helps to freshen your breath too. for any mommas out there, it is incredible to help increase breast milk as well, the production of it and i'm sure you've noticed me use the wordy jes digestive we love eating big meals and sometimes our tummies don't enjoy that so much spices can help with that. there's one special tea i recommend. if you find it difficult to incorporate spices into your diet, this includes coriander, cumin and fennel you boil it up and it's an easy way to add spices into your day. it's a great detox tea and helps take everything out that needs to be out of your body >> interesting. >> i love that. >> that's fantastic. >> first of all, how long should we keep our spices you know, because a lot of us have had them in the drawer for years. >> my mom has some from the '70s.

>> well, i would recommend that if you have the whole spices, they will last a lot longer. as soon as you have them ground up or altered in any way, i anything, keep them in a very airtight container as soon as air gets to it, the smell and the properties of it you start losing them. so i would say at least every three months start replenishing your powdered spices. >> what about card mum. >> i love card mum it's probably my favorite spice at the moment. it calms the body, it soothes it, and it's anti-inflammatory i love having a cup of hot milk with cardomom. i put it into cakes and cookies and into muffins you can even add powder to your rice to jazz it up a little bit. >> what does it taste like >> it's sweet. it's one of the sweeter spices it's almost like fennel as well. they're both very sweet spices
