hope it's a good one. >> yes going to be another really nice day as you get ready to head out the door in the tri-valley a live look in dublin. we'll see a cool start to our morning, sunshine and mild temperatures for the rest of today but yes, it's a chilly start. we will get some more of that sunshine today, going from the mid-40s to the low 60s by late morning, eventually reaching into the low 70s, not bad at all. we'll talk about the weekend and what's ahead coming up in a few minutes. mike, how is it looking for that early morning commute? >> not bad at all. it's friday. that's why, we expect much of the morning to be lighter than your other four weekdays during the week but had a scare here north 101, old middlefield road through mountain view reports of all lanes blocked but snuck in an update a couple minutes later, they got everything to the right shoulder. there's slowing because a number of cars are on the shoulder just right by the on-ramp. marcus a little slowing on the

map, moffitt field, everything else normal. a scare in the city of santa barbara a fast-moving fire threatened homes and a television station. the fire is spreading up tv hill in santa barbara, which is the home to keyt. you can see it there in the upper right side of your screen. firefighters posted this video as well, flames damaged one home, we do know that but by the overnight hours, conditions improved and firefighters got the upper hand with all evacuations lifted. the fire burned about 30 acres. so far authorities are not indicating if they know how the fire started. taking a live look at san francisco this morning where health officials are lifting more covid restrictions. socially distanced groups can play pool or arcade games, even have a drink at the bar. the changes come just in time for sports fans to have game night out like tonight for giants and warriors games. but not all business owners are ready to play by the new rules.

here's "today in the bay's" jean elle. >> reporter: fans heading out for a drink expecting to belly-up at the bar or play pool as covid restrictions loosen may be in for a surprise. game nights are good nights at the sea star bar in san francisco. >> yeah, we've had good traffic from before and after the warriors games which is really awesome. >> reporter: basketball and baseball fans looking for a drink will have new freedom as the first night the department of public health is allowing people to stand in socially distant groups. alicia walton says it's a relief. >> one drink in them and chanting and cheering and running over. i'm like, can you sit down? it's challenging, you know. so happy to have a little bit of a looser regulation on that. >> reporter: while people are allowed to play pool and drink in groups, this table will remain covered. >> sadly, we're not using the pool table yet because it uses up too much of our space. >> reporter: at harmonic brewing, sports fans are expected. >> we'll see who shows up and

it. the number of people in san francisco county hospitalized with covid is a fraction of what it was during the winter. take a look at this. so on january 17th, 247 people in sf hospitals had the virus. now look at it. just 28 patients. it's a similar story there on the state level, january 17th, more than 22,000 people were hospitalized with the virus, now just 1,600. police are looking for a man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting of a 12-year-old girl in antioch. they're looking for a man identified as michael dwayne fritz. police warn he should be considered armed and dangerous. the shooting happened may 12th at a home on oak haven way near the black diamond mines regional preserve. 12-year-old khaliah davis died. police are not saying anything about a motive. contra costa firefighters are taking a little more and talking about what they have

right here at this situation, it destroyed a home and numerous cars wednesday in martinez. they say three teenagers were playing stick ball with a tennis ball and they had set it on fire, the ball hit dry brush and the flames got out of hand. a dozen more homes were threatened. the teenager also likely face charges. apple ceo tim cook is expected to testify in an oakland courtroom this morning in a trial involving the popular video game fortnite. the anti trust lawsuit was filed last year by epic games. the company behind it. it claims apple's app store is an illegal monopoly that takes too much of its earnings. the company takes a commission of up to 30% from purchases made on its online store. it amounts to billions of dollars every year for apple. seems not eve board just yet with the plan to get rid once the san jose b.a.r.t. extension is complete. the vta this week posted the

first renderings of the plan 28th street underground station. critics point out rider have to go 100 feet underground to reach the platform. vta says constructing shallower stations would create street disruptions for years during the build-out. friday morning, that's what we mentioned, bright and sunny, is kari's outfit. is that an indication what we're in store for today, perhaps? >> absolutely. i think so. i mean, it's going to continue to be sunny and great weather for getting outside. if you want to go out for a hike in the east bay, check out our temperatures for today. we're starting out cool, with some upper 40s for the next few hours and then it starts to warm up. we're heading back into the 70s here, and during the middle of the afternoon, that's the best time to enjoy that sunshine. we'll be in the low 70s between noon and 4:00, and still some breezy winds. we've been watching those winds

and at times have been really gusting. we'll talk more about that as well as our drought st that's coming up in a few minutes. mike, how is it looking right now for the commute? >> looking like one person is going slow, that's what i know about right now. chp has it on the bay bridge. the span going westbound just past treasure island now, let's take a look at the live shot we have from emeryville, as we look at the span and i don't think we can really pick out anything particularly going on. we see smooth tail lights across treasure island and into san francisco. the map doesn't show us anything. hopefully the slow rolling vehicle makes it to san francisco without any problem. no delays on the span. the hazard marker on the right is where the fire the diablo range so keep that in mind. the only note i have is gates road, if you don't know where that is, don't worry about it and construction in alvarado niles. we'll talk about that. back to you. coming up next on "today in the bay" say good-bye to the

netflix and apple rallied more than 2%. investors are getting a boost from data that showed the number of people filing for unemployment benefits fell to a new pandemic low last week. for the week, the00on track for its fourth negative week in the past five, even as the nasdaq looks to break a losing streak, up nearly 1% for the week, after all is said and done. in focus today, we're waiting for a report on existing home sales. meantime, amazon shutting down its prime now app, and website by the end of the year. the service launched in 2014 available in about 5,000 cities lets prime members get one or two-hour delivery on a range of items including groceries and household essentials. amazon says customers can do that by choosing two-hour delivery within the regular amazon app or site and grocery delivery through amazon fresh or

whole foods of course that's if you can get a quick delivery slot. tough in new york city i will tell you. google will open its first ever permanent retail store in new york this summer, located in manhattan's chelsea district, which is a neighborhood where they right now have a major hub. they're going to sell items such as pixel phones, smart thermostats and fitbit wearable devices. the store will host workshops and using google products and offer repairs and troubleshooting, part of google's existing campus in the neighborhood. new york is google's second biggest employment space outside of its mountain view headquarters. marcus and laura, back over to you. looks like all of these guys, even though they're digital they value having that store where people can put their hands on it, whether it's amazon obviously apple, microsoft has a few stores, too. >> and at least back in the day it was really nice to go in those stores and just experience

easy prep, cook and clean with reynolds wrap. 4:47 this morning. getting ready on this friday, the team's all here feeling all good and hopefully the forecast matched. meteorologist kari hall has a look at that for us today. kari? >> it's going to be another great day but very windy. some of the wind gusts over the past 24 hours, it's still gusty. look at san francisco, the highest there with gusts coming out of the west at 45 miles per hour, but elsewhere, it's been in the 30-mile-per-hour range, strong enough to knock over some tree limbs, as well as anything that's outside in the yard, and we're still going to have a breezy day today. i want to take you through the time line, as we are going to see some of those wind speeds coming from the northwest at about 10 to 15 per hour,

and especially near the coast, where we see those winds at 30 miles per hour, it's going to be more like 20 to 25 for today, so that's still pretty breezy, and then at times it does get pretty gusty into the middle of the afte is when those winds will be strongest. we've had all of these high wind events and it's been drying out, the brush and the vegetation even more. we have that combined with our drought conditions, and seeing the exceptional drought expanding across parts of the bay area, that's where we see the dark red and notice at the top that's the worst the drought can be and that was the big news that we had out of yesterday morning's update and so we're continuing to watch out for those conditions, especially with the gusty winds that any fires even with the higher humidity could spread fairly quickly and we do also have some cooler temperatures, higher humidity, headed back into the low 70s in some of our warmest spots today in parts of the north bay, napa expect a high of

74. 74 as well in antioch and in san jose, as well as morgan hill, we're in the upper 60s for this afternoon. so as we go through the forecast, it's been nice to enjoy the cool weather as well as the breezy winds, but it's going to soon warm up, and we'll be in the low 80s by the end of the weekend, but still very pleasant weekend. by next week, we're looking at temperatures peaking at 85, but it doesn't stay there. we will see a cooldown by the middle of next week, and san francisco will at times see some clouds and fog moving through, still pretty windy with highs in the low 60s today, but upper 60s as you make weekend plans as well as early next week. heading over to you, mike, how is it looking right now for the morning commute? >> again, concerned about san jose, the area there, mountain view sunnyvale because of the crash on 101. we'll look at it on the maps, overall everything looks fine. zoom in toward 101 on the map the runways for moffitt field
