bit. oh, it's kind of weird to be here, i got to admit. vianey is in for kari. how are you? it's the first time i've seen new a really long time. >> i haven't seen mike either. i'll say hi to you later in the newsroom. we're still keeping decent distance out here but it's another warm day, guys. still going to see a cooling trend ahead so depending on where you live today, you might get some relief from the heat especially around the coastline. 57 degrees in san jose. look at the next couple of hours, so notice we will have some of those low clouds early on, along with the fog around the coastline but areas like livermore, plenty of sunshine. we'll talk about how warm we're going to get in a few minutes. let's send things over to mike. >> you talk about the fog, vianey but chp says the golden gate bridge may be especially a problem for visibility. we look out there and it's not a major issue here. green sensors across the bay. we'll stick with the maps for the entire report and point out in fremont or alvarado niles highway 84 construction, police activity 280 around mclaughlin and the freeways are moving

smoothly. back to you, laura. >> thank you, mike. 4:31. for the first time we have a minute-by-minute breakdown of the vta shooter's movements and the movements of the deputies searching for the gunman. >> that's right, we're seeing how it went down from the body camera of a santa clara county sheriff's deputy. freezing the video at parts that might be hard to watch. "today in the bay's" terry mcsweeney has more on the latest developments in the ongoing investigation. >> reporter: just minutes after the 911 call came in to report a gunman at the vta san jose maintenance yard a contact team made up of two santa clara county sheriff's deputies and three san jose police officers move towards building "a." >> they're moving toward a hot zone, a direct and immediate threat that exists to the public. >> reporter: someone inside the building told dispatchers the gunman is on the third floor. >> all right, we're good. >> reporter: top of the exterior

stairs the contact team sees a door open. >> get your hands up. hands on your head. >> reporter: it's a vta supervisor, who fortunately has an actess key for the building which he hands over to the team. they enter the building, and start opening doors. the team continues to move towards the source of the shots and they find him. >> stand by, stand by. let's just clear it off. hold it, hold it. >> i got it. >> i got the subject. i got somebody down here. >> evidence shows that one gunshot went through the door into the direction of the contact team. the investigation also revealed that the suspect had two self-inflicted gunshot wounds which proved to be fatal. once the suspect is secured, the officers continues searching for additional victims to provide medical aid. >> reporter: terry mcsweeney, "today in the bay." >> as families of the victims continue to mourn, the reality is setting in there are many events they won't be a part of. the son of paul megia is

celebrating his eighth grade graduation. he grew up in san jose, lived near mountain house near tracy, with his parents, wife and kids. friends and family gathered for his son, gavin. his family tells us paul did everything for his kids. >> i've been down, i've been having anger, but i've been trying to push that to the side and just think of the happy things in life and just be happy about what's happening with me right now. >> so sad. paul's funeral will be held on sunday. our coverage continues online as well where you can learn more about the victims and how you can help their families. we've also posted the entire four-minute body cam video, it's on our website, nbcbayarea.com. as of this morning, all bay area counties are officially out of the red tier, if you live in solano or marin counties you're waking up to loosened restrictions. solano county is officially in

the orange tier, it's the final bay area county to qualify, marin meanwhile is moving into the least restrictive yellow tier effective today. indoor capacities for businesses like restaurants and gyms can be expanded while bars can reopen indoors at 25%. sonoma county has run out of time to move on from its current covid restrictions and will remain in its orange tier status until the state reopens on june 15th. a follow-up right now that's where board members went late into the night grappling with new water restrictions that many argue would impact new home construction. that's because it would include a ban on new water service hookups to homes. the board did not reach a decision last night and will pick up the conversation next week. meanwhile, tri-valley water customers are the latest being urged to voluntarily cut water consumption. water agencies there are being asked -- asking everyone to cut usage by about 10% with this being the region's second straight dry year.

new this morning, water levels at lake sonoma are reportedly getting so low, it's starting to expose underwater hazards. that's according to "the press democrat." the low water levels are prompting a new set of rules for boaters extending no wake zones to the widest and deepest parts of the reservoir. lake sonoma is a little over half its seasonal capacity. we really could use the rain but now we're in june, the dry conditions continue out there. temperature wise what are we in store for, vianey? >> we're going to see a decent range and by range it showcase microclimates, where we've got 50s at the coast and drive a few miles in and we're at 80s and 90s still, that's what we'll see today. notice the time stamp wednesday about 10:00 a.m., these are the temperatures we'll sort out. notice 52 degrees in san francisco, then we bump up into the 60s for areas like dublin and fremont and san jose and 70s in through livermore. i'll talk about how warm we'll

good morning, i'm contessa brewer from cnbc. wall street is set to open mixed this morning, flat to slightly lower following a muted start to june. the dow had been up more than 300 points yesterday but pared the gains to close up just 47. the s&p 500 broke a three-day win streak and the nasdaq down fractionally for its second day in three. we are seeing here some fears related to inflation, to the reopening of the economy, and how the federal reserve may respond, that's continuing to weigh on the markets. in focus today reports on auto sales and the fed's beige book which tracks economic conditions around the country. 7-eleven plans to build 500 electric vehicle charging stations in the u.s. and canada by the end of next year. the convenience store chain has only in 22 charging stations at 14 stores in four states. the fast-charging ports will be installed at about 250

locations, creating one of the largest retail charging networks in the country. 7-eleven pledged to cut its carbon emissions in half by 2030 and buying wind energy to power more than 800 stores in texas and 300 in illinois. tesla filed for a new trademark for its brand under restaurant services, it may be gearing up to deliver on an idea elon musk and others discussed publicly since at least 2017, to turn charging stations into full service convenience stores that also serve food. musk then talked out the idea on twitter, hinting at an old school drive-in restaurant in los angeles. a few months later, tesla applied for a restaurant and charging station, but it's been relatively quiet about that business venture since then. cierra, laura? >> thank you so much. 4:42, celebrating pride month in the city by the bay, the big names san francisco brought out to celebrate an

instead of being in my house. >> i'm sure it's different. >> i was a little hermit but it great to be all together and mike, we'll have a look at the morning commute which is starting to pick up. >> it is. definitely is. >> more people going back to work. >> that i don't miss. traffic. i miss you and traffic, mike. i will say that. mike was mentioning the fog at the bridges, that's another factor again today and cools us off significantly, the onshore flow that moved in and look at the temperature difference compared to the past 24 hours. a livermore running nine degrees cooler, hayward two to three degrees, but by the afternoon expect more sunshine through the interior valleys. the hour-by-hour temperature forecast, if you wonder about the timing, the bar is up here, wednesday, 10:30. i fast forwarded this by a couple of hours to give you an idea, 50s around the coastline, san francisco, and we have 60s

in dublin, i want to get out of the way here. if you notice, livermore and tracy go up into the 70s. look at what happens around 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, when we start to see the peak heat going up, we keep the 60s and the 70s, but look at the interior valleys, we go bump up into 86 for livermore, 92 for tracy, so quite the range of temperatures, when you go from 50s in san francisco all the way up into the 90s in tracy. that is showcasing our microclimates. by the afternoon, of course, we cool off overnight and we've been having mild mornings to start but i want to turn your attention toward something that a lot of us are thinking about, that's of course the california drought, we remain into the d4 category, the worst category for the majority of northern california but this is affecting everybody. statewide zero percent of average snowpack. that means whatever little snow we did get during those lack of rainfall months, it's completely depleted and normally we count

on the sierra snowpack to melt into our springs helping boost our reservoir levels in through the summer which brings me to the bay area reservoir levels and where we currently stand in the south bay. current capacity is about 29.2% of historical average for the south bay. definitely i wish i could say there was rain in the forecast. notice there's sunshine. i have one bit of good news. mike will like this one, we go down into the 70s for daytime highs in inland areas. >> thank you, vianey. i know you didn't cause that but thanks for reporting it. out to the roadways, the bay bridge, the toll plaza is just fine. it's clear and the map shows you green sensors, the approach, the berkeley curve, the east shore freeway no major issues. s with we look at our maps a smooth flow of traffic out there, toward the bay and across towards san francisco. its rest of the bay, highway 84 closure which should be another couple minutes, maybe five minutes and they should clear that as well. police activity just off 280 and mclaughlin, near the vietnamese

mall. watch for traffic control in the area and we're tracking that in the newsroom and reminder vta no lightrail service, bus bridges from last week are canceled. call the number on the screen there if you need information. back over to you. >> thanks so much. 4:48. a new report from the fbi says california has seen more active shooter incidents than any other state. in the report, it looked at the number of active shooter situations over the past two decades between 2000 and 2019, california had 42 active shooter incidents. in florida, 27 attacks were recorded. texas came in third with 25 shootings. nationwide over the past two decades there have been more than 330 active shooter incidents and nearly 3,000 people have died. happening today, windsor's town council begins a new chapter following the resignation of its embattled mayor. councilmember also hold the
