15 californians will win $50,000. same next friday june 11th. june 15th california draws the name of ten people vaccinated to win $1.5 million each. if you have at least one dose you are automatically entered. if you win, the state will call the number that you gave when you got your vaccine. you will have 96 hours to respond. you don't have to tell anybody that you won if you won. the governor's office tweeted out this video. your kids are also eligible if they are vaccinated but that money will go into a savings account that they can access when they turn 18 and the first 2 million californians to complete their vaccinations between may 27th and whenever that number gets hit, they will win $58 gift cards for completing vaccination. governor newsom says it's a safety for the community. >> these are an opportunity to say thank you to those not only

seeking to get vaccinated as we move forward, but also those that have been vaccinated. >> so it may be a thank you, but it's also a what are you waiting for? vaccination rates have slowed as of late, as of yesterday, 57% of californians 12 and older have gotten at least one shot. 45% of californians are fully vaccinated but that means 58 million doses were administered before the big payday that we're going to see today, so a lot of people seeing that the vaccine, protection provided by that vaccine may be the biggest reward in itself. in san jose, kris sanchez, "today in the bay." >> that's right, we all have to think we're winners when it comes to that. >> fingers crossed. napa county health leaders are reporting their first covid related death of someone who was fully vaccinated. the woman who died was over 65 years old, also had underlying medical conditions and had been in the hospital for some time.

the county has reported 32 so-called breakthrough cases among more than 70,000 fully vaccinated residents. a live look at the white house this morning, where in just a few hours, president biden plans to address the nation on the economy. it will follow the may employment report from the labor department, expected at the bottom of the hour. unemployment claims fell to 385,000 last week, their first time below 400,000 since the pandemic shutdowns began. more strong numbers could bolster the president's argument for big government spending, saying this on a recent trip to cleveland. >> the biden economic plan is working. we had record job creation, we're seeing record economic growth. >> reporter: but a weaker showing would give critics an opening to question the strategy, just as negotiations over a massive infrastructure bill are entering a critical phase. talks resume today with president biden pushing senate republicans to increase their counteroffer to $1 trillion in new spending. the white house offering to compromise on a corporate tax hike that republicans fiercely opposed. >> they're defining a whole lot of other things in infrastructure, we think that's a non-starter because that big package would also include a massive tax increase. >> reporter: political football in washington, as americans wait

on when and how lawmakers will break the impasse. in washington, alice barr, nbc news. developing this morning in honolulu, police have made an arrest in the deadly stabbing of an east bay teenager. it happened early tuesday morning moments after a confrontation near diamond head beach in waikiki. police identified the victim as 19 erld elian de los ertos from alameda. an argument between two groups escalated quickly. >> the fight just became a mess. everybody fighting. i seen the guy all in blood, it was terrible. >> bail for the murder suspect identified as oscar cardona is set at $1 million. and here is a live look at sfo and when it comes to the debate about noisy planes flying into and out of the airport, palo alto leaders now apparently have a seat at the table. palo alto online reports the city has just been invited to join what's called sfo community

roundtable. the group goes back 40 years and addresses the air traffic and noise concerns tied to sfo's flight path. palo alto is the santa clara county to a part of the group. b.a.r.t. hands-on fun-filled outreach at the south bay station. holding a community event at berryessa station to build rapport with the commuters. can starts at 2:00 in the afternoon. and some new details for you here, b.a.r.t. riders, preparing to take it up a notch in return to full service next monday the number of trains running 15 minutes apart will double on the weekdays.

the first in the nation to try thermal imaging technology, check out the got toes, helmets letting firefighters see through obstacles. the department entered into a new agreet with a san francisco-based company to develop and improve this kind of technology. new this morning, nearly all of northern california will be under a significant risk of wildfires by the end of the summer. that's according to the national agency fire center, it says the next four months the bay area will be among those in the red, you see there on your maps, meaning a greater chance of significant wildfires >> it is dry out there as well but at least the temperatures have been pretty mild these days. let's check in with vianey

arana, you have a look at the drought monitor. >> if you look at the previous map and compare it to this, the exceptional color, which is just a little bit darker than the red which is extreme it coincides where they think the fire danger is really elevated. it includes about 26% of california, santa rosa, napa, oakland, fairfield, concord and the rest of the bay area is in extreme drought. let's take a look at how we'll shape, at least we'll see temperatures remain below the triple digits. the good news is that overnight humidity tends to recover. whenever we see that humidity fall below 30%, that's where we really start to see concerns, so there's three main factors we look out for when monitoring fire danger, the temperatures, the winds and the humidity, so we'll be okay at least for the next couple of days but we still have plenty of dry brush out there, always going to be a concern, because of just how dry mike, howvianey, it's 5:08. we had some changes as we look at the map, a couple of minor incidents, nothing major out

good morning. it is 58 degrees right now in san jose, and really mid-50s and a couple low 60s to wake up this morning. a mix of sun and clouds for the first half of our day and good clearing for the afternoon. comfortable upper 70s, low 80s for the south bay, i'll have a look at the rest of the bay area coming up in just a few minutes. and over the last few minutes, right side of your screen the tail lights got bunched up, there was a little bit of slowing here, some debris reported on the san mateo bridge and sorting out the details, chp bridge crew gives you more info coming up. good morning, happy friday to you as well. it's jobs friday, the first friday of the month, the one where we get the latest data from the labor department. normally we feel quite positive. there's been a lot of evidence of recovery in the american economy but last month's job report showed far fewer jobs created than we first thought. some blamed it on unemployment benefits too generous, too much

money. president biden said that wasn't the case. >> i think the people who claim americans won't work even if they find a good and fair opportunity underestimate the american people. so i will insist that the law is followed with respect to benefits for we're not going to turn our backs on our fellow americans. >> these numbers come out at 5:30 our time. economists hoping for 670,000 jobs added. if it comes to that number, gets that high or even better, doesn't mean wall street's going to be happy. too strong a report and investors will start to worry the fed is going to pull back on all that easy money and low interest rate. nissan says it had to delay its electric car the aria because they can't get enough chips to build it. supposed to go in mid 2021, it is mid 2021. facebook will treat pole tigss post the same as regular

people. if they spread dangerous lies or incite riots that violates facebook rules, their posts will be removed. earlier facebook said it wouldn't police politicians because what they said no matter how offensive or dangerous was in facebook's opinion newsworthy. faceback has been trying to find a cogent policy to cover this. at an address a few years ago mark zuckerberg said facebook wouldn't police speech at all and almost immediately reversed that. some california restaurants may be toasting governor newsom's extension of outdoor dining orders, that's because he extended california's cocktails to go rule. restaurants will be able to provide drinks on the go or deliver them. also wants cities and counties to have their own say when it comes to expanded outdoor dining. his orders are expected to continue through at least the

end of the year. covid-19 is making it impossible to finish filming the new "mission impossible 7" movie. the daily mail reports production has shut down again after people tested positive for covid. production on the movie has shut down several times during the pandemic, you may remember back in december, audio released of tom cruise yelling at crew members for not following covid protocols. production will restart in two weeks. does your family fight over monopoly rules during the pandemic? nearly half of american families banned monopoly from game night because of fights over cheaters and sore losers. 37% of families have banned uno as well, followed by sorry! and scrabble. sometimes the competition gets a little heated. 11% have seen a physical fight break out during a board game match. >> wow. >> that is crazy. >> straight to jail for that.

let's take a tour of the bay area and see what we can expect for today. daytime highs in the south bay 79 degrees for san jose, 80 degrees in milpitas. east san jose 83 and through the east bay, 67 in oakland, 80s for walnut creek, 83 concord and antioch still some of our warmest spots in the upper 80s/low 90s and around the peninsula, no breeze so overall pretty much upper 60s, no windchill factor there. a little breezy in san francisco with the winds 18 miles per hour from the west, 65 degrees for mission, 63 in downtown and north bay 83 degrees and santa rosa, 84 in sonoma, if you're headed up there to the north bay it is going to be warm, at least no triple digits. long range outlook, as we head toward saturday and sunday we have some high pressure that rolls back in, that sort of is going to warm us up by a few degrees in some spots, mainly inland areas. and rain that we're missing out on it will stay pretty much to our north but the system is going to help cool us off as we

head in towards monday, tuesday, and wednesday, we'll only top out in the 70s for inland areas, so really i think next week is sort of ideal weather for me, and san francisco is going to be nice and breezy, windy at times through this afternoon. saturday and sunday look at the temperatures, we warm up remember i mentioned a few degrees because of the high pressure and we tool back down headed into monday, tuesday and wednesday as well because of that passing system. now let's get a check of the traffic as well. >> i like the temperatures as well. glad we're on the same page. on the san mateo bridge the right side it's separated, the cars are separated quite a bit. i think there may have been a traffic break or distraction. reports of 92 someone on the high-rise, vehicles pulled off to the shoulder. 92 eastbound, there's a little tiny bit of sensor slowing there, that might be the lag as things clear and track that closely. the early commute looks very

new details out of minneapolis, a memorial at the intersection where george floyd was killed is now being taken down. city workers have started removing the flowers, banners and artwork from the area dubbed as george floyd square, the city hired an outside group to keep watch to deescalate any possible tension during this dismantling. the only thing that will remain is the fifth sculpture in the

joins us live from pleasanton with some of the new rules that are being considered by the state. bob? >> reporter: good morning to you, laura. the osha board has issued a recommendation to the state that they drop the indoor mask requirement for workers assuming everyone in an office like this one behind me is vaccinated. the "l.a. times" reports this rule would not apply to people who worked in restaurants, retail or other types of workplaces that interact with the public. those people would still have to mask up. assuming that the state agrees with this recommendation and implements it, workers in private office or workplace settings could shed the mask june 15th when the state fully reopens. businesses would first have to document that all employees have been vaccinated, and that no one is displaying covid-19 symptoms. >> if enough people are vaccinated i guess that it makes sense to make that an option for any workplace.

>> well, if everyone is vaccinated and then i don't think you need to wear a mask. i think that's all right. >> there will be tons of offices where if everyone is vaccinated, there would be no problem with not wearing a mask. >> reporter: now the osha recommendation would also require employees working inside or at outdoor events of 10,000 people or more to continue to social distance and to be given masks by their employers for voluntary use or that's an either/or there until july 31st. a number of people spoke up during the board's meeting yesterday, this is a virtual meeting, a number of people include business owners, one says they are tired of being told what to do, and given the low rates of infection, another expressed concern that this proposal could pose an unreasonable burden, referring to the fact that people would be required to be vaccinated at work. reporting live here in pleasanton, bob redell, "today in the bay."

$12,000 in donations, after new publications by a town council member implying he tried to buy her out of the race for mayor in 2020 which she declined to exit, she says he offered to donate to her choice of charities which experts say is legal. foppoli did not respond to the paper's request for comment. the pandemic has opinion been challenging for many people including students trying to learn from home. according to "the examiner" the kaiser family foundation says more than 2030-% of parents say their child's mental or emotional health has worsened since the pandemic started. the san francisco unified school district says during the past year, it created virtual activities and did family wellness check-ins to make sure students were coping while learning at home and plans to expand its mental health services this fall to help students readjust to the classroom setting. new this morning, new delays for caltrain and its plan to convert to an electric fleet.

her first toyota save mart 350 as a general manager at sonoma raceway. there's a limited number of fans but more than 15,000 will be allowed, the largest crowd for a sporting event in the bay area since the start of the pandemic. there are several protocols in place from required masks to contactless and cashless transactions to sanitizing stations. >> fan safety, community safety. we don't want to put undue stress on our local community. we have all the things in place, all the protocols in place so i'm feeling good about it. >> missing it for a year, being back here makes it more exciting. i'm stoked and can't wait for sunday's race. >> reporter: because of nascar's covid restrictions this year's race will be a one-day event. there's no practice or qualifying, drivers will show up and race. >> a little bit different than the traditional rules that we go to, so obviously you want to have a little bit of track time but we won't have that, jumping in and getting after it on sunday.

here is a look at your beach forecast. santa cruz is going to be in the 70s, half moon bay in the 60s today and santa cruz over the weekend, remember i talked about the high pressure that was going to roll in, warming us up by a few degrees? monday is 81 and i should say sunday, that one there says monday but yes. saturday, sunday, san jose as well expect to see mid-70s and 80s in through the weekend. it is a fantastic way to go out and enjoy your weekend. now today's daytime highs are similar as well so just remember to drink a lot of water, because even though it's not going to be in the triple digits it warms up significantly for the tri-valley. upper 80s and low 90s, still hot but at least we're not going to be seeing record heat for the next couple of days, we'll keep the stretch of sunny weather. mike? >> we get folks moving nicely on schedule, 5:39, 5:40 in a couple of seconds. getting out of the area is an

talk about the current temperatures as you head out the door, because we're falling into a stable weather pattern, setting us up nicely for the weekend. 55 in oakland, hayward 52 and the weather is comfortable but we want to look at the fire danger and how the humidity is doing because we remain under an extreme drought in the state of california so typically overnight we recover with the humidity with the arrival of the marine layer the past couple of days it helps keep some of the daytime high temperatures at bay. right now we're doing okay, no concerns there. through portions of the hills with the yellow dry elevated fire danger, we're dealing with that. something to keep in mind. another thing to keep in mind is your allergy forecast. if you suffer from allergies we have the summer allergies out there, definitely seeing tree pollen for sure, grass is high.

of a small plane that landed on busy highway 101 earlier this week in southern california. looks like you're just in a car, right? the pilot was on a training flight when the plane experienced a loss of oil pressure, you see it there, coming down, landing on the freeway. instructor took over, managed to safely land it, with all those cars that were going by, quite a talent there and we're so glad to say no one was injured. new details out of minneapolis. city workers removed the flowers, banners and artwork from the area dubbed as george floyd square and a city group watching to deescalate any pop tensions. the only thing that will remain is the fifth sculpture in the middle of that intersection. the state is agreeing not to impose more covid restrictions on church gatherings and it's also set to pay more than $2 million in fees to one group of
