three men were pronounced dead at the scene, and four others took themselves to the hospital for treatment. police are investigating the motives. they are encouraging anyone with information to reach out to the st. louis metropolitan police department's homicide division or crime stoppers. now to the ruling that could reshape college sports the u.s. supreme court ruled the nc can -- ncaa can't restrict college athletes getting paid. >> a unanimous ruling against the ncaa's claim that limits classroom perks for athletes help preserve the amateur status of college sports. the ncaa cannot limit education-related benefits, including computers, musical instruments, and scholarships or internships after student athletes are no longer playing the ruling did not directly address the bigger issue, whether student athletes can be paid, but it's suggested the

ncaa might lose on that too. the victory for former clemson player jenkins just as brett kavanaugh said the ncaa's business model would be flatly illegal in almost any other industry in america. he said restaurants, for example, can't ban together to cut wages for their employees on the theory that customers prefer food prepared by low-paid cooks. >> this could open the door for college athletes to receive payment to play, payment to attend a school or transfer school >> the ncaa must soon decide what to do about a growing number of state laws that explicitly allow athletes to be paid for the use of their names or likenesses. the supreme court's ruling is a blow to a system that generates billions of dollars for everyone but the athletes now the ncaa says it hopes congress will act on a bill to set a nationwide standard,

the white house continues to celebrate pride debuting an exhibit dedicated to pride month on the ground floor corridor the area featured items dedicated to the history of the lgbtq community, borrowing from the smithsonian. and secretary of state antony blinken announced the state department will be flying the progress flag in recognition of pride month the flag combines the rainbow pride flag with colors representing the trans community and people of color. the countdown is on for the tomo olympics. we're just about a week away

from the opening ceremony. overseas ioc officials are trying to revive the spirit of the games with spectators, and they're putting some new rules in place joining us now from london is chapman bell chapman, good morning. so what is this we're hearing about no cheering? >> good morning. yeah, phillip and frances, no cheering, shouting, even speaking loudly, all not allowed. and masks will need to be worn, but there will be fans venues are going to be capped at 50% capacity, but up to 10,000 domestic spectators will be able to attend events of course, international fans were banned earlier this year. the decision was made by the five groups involved in organizing the olympics. and it goes against the recommendation last week given by japan's top medical adviser saying that the venues should be empty. but japanese officials do say that spectators still could be banned if the pandemic worsened.

but at this point it looks like there will be people in the stands and in an olympic-first kiwi weightlifter laurel hubbard has been named to team new zealand and will be the first openly transgender athlete to compete in these olympic games so a big first there, and i'm sure there will be fans in the stands trying to figure out a way to make some noise they have one month, guys, to come up with a way to safely make some noise for these athletes who've waited an extra year to compete. so we'll see what they can come up with, so a safe olympics but hopefully not a silent olympics. >> well, it'll be only domestic, right? so only people who live there will be able to go here we were used to watching the games without any spectators kind of weird but at least the games are happening. people there are going to have to perfect the golf clap >> it kind of goes against human
