mike has a look at the commute coming up in a bit, but first a look at the forecast on this friday. >> it is friday and it's going to be a nice one. live view in dublin right now as we're seeing the clouds rolling by, temperatures in the upper 50s and we will see the clouds gradually clearing out by late morning, another day like yesterday, with our temperatures around the bay reaching 71, gilroy 80 and 83 in santa rosa. we'll talk about the weekend ahead coming up. how is the commute looking? >> if you commute this early there's light volume of traffic and one issue, sounds like a disabled vehicle south 280 at 87 perhaps an animal in the roadway. i'm getting details. if it matters to the commute i'll let you now. south bay your commute direction pushes north and west to counter the earlier incident. altamont pass a little slowing no problems through the north bay getting to the bay bridge or any of your other bridges. back to you. >> thank you very much.

vallejo's police chief needs a better arsenal to combat crime. >> this comes after two shootings. he wants to install dozens more criminals with cameras. >> reporter: right now, vallejo has 20 cameras like these around the city that capture the license plate numbers on cars, a tool some city officials say could help fight crime. >> with any detection division would depend on a lead from a vehicle description, license plate number. most of the crimes that are committed are done so inside a vehicle. >> reporter: police say a camera pointed in the right direction would help with leads in two shootings in vallejo, with one on sonoma boulevard near a temple leaving an 8-year-old child injured and a 30-year-old woman in the car in critical condition. about an hour before that shooting, a 32-year-old man was shot and killed on violet drive.

police don't know if the two are connected. >> in this case, you know, you have an 8-year-old girl, a 30-year-old woman, you have a 32-year-old man that lost his life and so those are the things that are important and we need to come together on and decide how we want to move forward. >> reporter: moving forward by installing cameras is something the city's police chief will have to convince city lawmakers to do. he wants to buy up to 80 cameras to put in high crime areas. they cost $2500 apiece per year, giving a price tag of about $200,000 annually to operate. city council member tina arriola is skeptical the cameras will help fight crime. >> show me the data and proof this is a better way to police a city than what we're doing right now. i think it's a lazy tool. >> reporter: to get these cameras vallejo's police chief

will have to get the approval of the city council, presented at the end of the month. in vallejo, cheryl hurd, nbc bay area news. one year after the july 4th shooting death of a boy in san francisco police are searching for one of the suspects. police made the arrest about six months after the death of jace young, who was shotn the bayvie. police say a second suspect identified as 18-year-old desean lump kin was never arrested. police are asking him to turn himself in. he should be considered armed and dangerous. berkeley firefighters will now be able to tap into new funding to boost wildfire prevention. that project approved this week includes nearly $13 million in voter approved funds for emergency preparedness. berkeley fire reports more than $5 million is going to the fire department for wildfire safety and will fund a larger training facility and new ambulances. berkeley is moving forward with closing one of its

vaccination sites after four months and 100,000 vaccinations later, golden gate field vaccination site is closing. health leaders saysite on san p. 67% in berkeley over the age of 12 are vaccinated and nearly 80% have received their first shot. it's a big battle upsetting oakland a's fans hoping to catch fireworks tonight. the team claims bart is making it difficult for fans to get home after the game. taking a live look at the coliseum where the a's will host the red sox, bart says it won't run trains after the fireworks show. more than 30,000 tickets have already been sold but the team says they made the decision to stop selling them due to the potential of fans not being able to get home. bart says it just doesn't have the staff to keep up. mark your calendar, fleet week returns to san francisco this year. a lot of people really missed it during the pandemic when it was in full force last year. mayor london breed announcing it

demand hike wages and offered incentives to lure americans back to the labor force. i actually saw a headline of a burger king in latrobe, pennsylvania, offering a $1500 signing bonus at a burger king. forecast calls for more than 700,000 jobs to have been added to payrolls in june with unemployment falling to 5.6%. investors are also going to be focused very carefully on the average hourly wages for any signs of a big move there. labor is one of business's biggest expenses, costs, and spikes in wages can often foreshadow broader inflation throughout the economy. ahead of that yesterday we saw the s&p rising and ending at a record high for the sixth straight day. apple is reportedly trying to do a flex work from home

program for store employees, work remotely some weeks like handling tech support and online sales and in the store other times. apple's pilot programs will last six months. participating employees would be paid the same but exinterest for internet and office equipment. meantime tiktok is rolling out an option to lets users create longer videos of up to three minutes. that's a lot of choreography. currently the videos are limited to 60 seconds. the longer option has been in testing mode since december for just a select few users. tiktok says it will be available to everyone over the coming weeks. tiktok's success has pushed other social media companies to have short video services of their own. instagram launching real, snapchat launching spotlight. so i don't know, guys, are you guys ready for doing those long dances? three minutes is a long time. >> 30 seconds i was cool with.

still looks good for us today. a lot of smoke has been drifting oss what we're expecting today across the bay area, mostly in the good range. if you're plank to get outside, going out for a hike, we're going to see still some clouds for the early hours still in the south bay, at 10:00 it's clear and sunny, temperatures nice and comfortable in the upper 60s and we've had some pretty pleasant weather lately and that continues today. with some upper 70s into the afternoon. seven-day forecast is already up at the bottom of the screen. let's get a look at where we're trending today. there's going to be a wide range in temperatures. if you're in ukiah like what cool air because it's been in the upper 90s all week long. that continues shouldn't say short drive, but a drive over to napa whereres will reach into the mid 70s today. martinez will see a high there

of 77 degrees and concord 83, livermore reaching into the in tonight, we're going to drop 50s, low 60s and then more of the same weather for tomorrow. not too many changes. wherever you're seeing the temperatures in the range of 80s to 90, that's what you'll see throughout the weekend. so we are seeing still a strong westerly wind and with the high pressure over the desert southwest that's not moving, it's still pumping in some monsoonal moisture across parts of the sierra that's firing up some thunderstorms even some lightning. we've seen that happen the past couple days and expect that if you'll be going there for today or tomorrow. looking at temperatures through the inland areas looking good here. i don't think it could get any better than this. the fourth of july weekend, although we would like to get rid of the fog keeping an eye o. mike, what are you watching right to drive from ukiah

newsom with votes. take place sooner than respected. republicans leading from office it was a manipulative move. once you get the ballot in the mail you have to fill out two sections, the first you will be asked if governor newsom should be removed from office, a yes or no question. in the second part pick a replacement candidate. you can vote no of removing the governor from office but select a replacement candidate in case the governor is recalled. a mendocino cafe now closing. you may recall the cafe and the signs charging customers who wear face coverings a $5 fee. the chronicle reports the landlords asked the owner chris castleman to comply with the governor mandate and not post the signs. he refused.

this morning, america gains 50 new citizens just in time to celebrate the birth of our nation. alameda mayor ashcroft is expected to naturalize men and women on the deck of the "uss hornet." the carrier built in part by immigrants. the ceremony gets under way at 10:00 this morning. this fourth of july south bay tradition will be back, but might look different. >> yeah. the rose, white and blue parade is on for sunday, but instead of lining through san jose rose garden neighborhood as in years past, participants will set up for a festival at shasta avenue. >> what we've done is invited so many of the participants in the parade to be at the festival so we'll have some circus performers who would have been walking the parade route walking throughout the festival and artists and vendors, shopping, food trucks, lots of entertainment. >> the classic cars and low
