steers all of the smoke. doesn't matter where you travel across california there's going to be smoky and hazy conditions, unhealthy air quality. we are going to need to limit our time outside with hot valley temperatures reaching into the mid to upper 90s over the next few days. going into next week we're going to start to feel some much better relief from the heat and the smoke. i think we'll see the shift in the wind direction, the ocean breeze returning. san francisco from mid 70s for the next couple days, back to the low to mid 60s next week as the fog comes back in and we get a westerly wind and cooler temperatures. we're going to be watching all of that. mike, what are you watching for the commute? >> we're watching friday, at the bay bridge toll plaza we like to be able to see the pave mns light flow here. the light slowing across the span. westbound is your commute direction. the incline is where folks slow because, of course, unlike the toll plaza where we have 20 lanes we have fewer than that, what, seven across the bay bridge. we're looking at across the

6:33 am
the air quality is not expected to be at least the level of the spare the air days like we had last week. this is an air quality advisory. less severe than a spare the air day. the district expects air quality today and tomorrow to be moderate. the district tells "the chronicle" that now might be a good time to pull out your n-95 face mask if you have one to protect yourself from any wildfire smoke. those masks filter out 95% of air particles and offer protection against covid. a lot of people are expected to be outside this weekend. you have a rock concert tonight at oracle park in san francisco. friday night high school football starting in the area. san jose state plays tomorrow and, of course, the raiders and the 49ers are playing on sunday. it's just something to keep in mind if you're going to be outside in those crowds. reporting live here in dublin, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> thank you. well that situation in afghanistan continues to develop by the minute. want to give you a live look at the airport in kabul.
