want to say a good monday morning to you. i am laura garcia. >> i am marcus washington. let's get this monday started by looking at your forecast. kari, rain in the forecast? >> yeah, looking forward to cooler temperatures and showers out ahead of the cold front that will help clear out the air and drop our temperatures for today. the chance is mostly for the north bay where we could see showers here at noon, north of ukiah and moving in closer going through today. spotty showers as well near the coast, mist and drizzle, as well as the fog. there could be spotty light showers making it inland to the east bay. looks so much better today and we'll talk about that coming up. mike, you are giving us a look at the bay bridge. >> yeah, look at that westbound -- oh, familiar signs. folks heading into san francisco

over the weekend had the closure from west 80 to 101, and that has been cleared. not only was that cleared already, but cleared a day ahead of time, so great job caltrans. the lanes were clear and everything was moving smoothly including the san mateo bridge, and something did show up and i think it could be on the 92 bridge, and i'll check on that one for details. in new york city five people were shot in upper manhattan. happened early this morning. according to police, he saw a gunman shooting people and confronted him and was shot in the hip. 14 people were injured and all suspected to survive. the motive is unclear. the state's eviction

>> for fans, this was the first meaningful game with fans since the 2020 championship. >> yeah, the place was packed and a lot of people excited out there, and not to mention tailgating before the kickoff. marianne favro was there and has more. >> reporter: even though the niners lost there was a lot of traffic and lots of lines for foods. fans say they still feel a victory because they were able to be at levi again. >> it's so amazing to be here for the first time since the nfc championship two years ago. i love the niners and love coming out and tailgating with our friends and family. >> more than 69,000 fans poured into levi stadium today for the first season home game with fans since january 2020.

things are shaping up. >> yes, waking up to better air quality across the bay area. the only spot where it looks like it's just slightly above where we go from good to moderate is the coast and the bay, and everywhere else we are looking at good air quality for today. we get the cooler conditions and more of an ocean breeze to help push the smoke out. we are walking out the door to temperatures in the upper 40s and will be in the low 50s throughout much of the morning with the clouds and looking at overall cooler air today with highs in the inland areas in the low 70s. we'll talk more about that coming up. mike, you are checking in on san mateo? >> yeah, last time we looked, there was a disabled vehicle and we'll watch that until we get the all clear from chp. it's early, folks.

plenty of room on the roadways, but some folks are distracted by the flashing lights. another issue pops up in san ramon. probably on the surface streets, and i will check that out. we had a little change from green to yellow, and a tad bid of slowing out of the altamont pass, but it's just the volume starting to build. facebook responding to claims that instagram is toxic for teens. plus, later, developments in the deadly amtrak train detailment. dozens more are injured. we'll have the latest on the investigation.

good monday morning. right now at 4:43, i'm watching this cold front moving closer to the bay area but the rain just is falling apart. we'll see if it can hold together and bring us at least spotty sprinkles. more coming up in the forecast in a few minutes. we have a little movement, maybe a little light mist at the san mateo bridge. can't see quite so clearly on the camera. but let's check in with silvana.

stocks fell hard on monday on worries over the debt crisis at china's tech giant, ever grant. they retire wednesday and thursday after the fed signaled it's not ready to start tapering. the dow snapping a three-week losing streak. the dow is still down 1.6% for the month. the s&p 1.5%. in focus today, a report on demand for durable goods. facebook is hitting back at the claims that instagram is dangerous for teens, especially teen girls. in a post yesterday facebook's said of research said the journal misrepresented the data, by omitting more positive

good monday morning. taking a live look at the bay bridge as we get started here and talking about possible rain. i like that conversation, possible rain. thank you for starting your morning with us. kari, how is it looking for us today? >> looking cooler for us today and the air quality looking better. we will see more improvements in the near term as we are waking up and heading out the door in san jose. all these temperatures are nice and chilly, and we also have clouds overhead. we are watching the rain further to the north and our hour-by-hour forecast and it shows there will be slight rain chances for the north bay going into this afternoon. as it continues to move through, a lot of the rain falls apart but parts of the peninsula later this evening may see spotty drizzle, and for parts of the south bay we will have to wait if this can hold together, and looking at temperatures today coming down, upper 60s and low 70s for highs today.

74 in morgan hill. we will see the temperatures reach into the low 60s for walnut creek. oakland today, 67 degrees. low 60s for daly city and half moon bay. san mateo reaching 67 there. downtown, 65 for a high while north bay temperatures will reach in the mid-70s for ukiah and sonoma today. 68 degrees. now we are, like, yea, cooler temperatures. look at what happens in brentwood as we go through the week. yeah, going right back up. we're talking about highs in the low 90s. enjoy this cooldown. temperatures in the low 70s today as well as tomorrow. you can see the trend heading back up as you can see temperatures in the mid-80s, and spots like brentwood will head back in the 90s. then some mid-70s as we clear out the rest of the week.

mike, you have another look at the golden gate bridge. >> yeah, i want to point out the sheen here, and kari talked about the mist and maybe light mist and drizzle on the roadway, we have to be extra careful because the first of sort of moisture on the roadway brings the grease up to the top and it could make things slick. have not heard of any problems or seen anything on the bridge, but it could be going on around the bay. smooth drive, and a slight slowing out of livermore off 680. not a major problem. here we have good news over here, northbound 101, disabled vehicle off the road. and now city's department of

human resources, 8% were partially vaccinated last week, and 150 workers have been approved for religious exemption. the number of sfp workers approaching exemptions. the so-called fast trip system literally cuts power automatically when sensors detect breached power lines, and it's leading to a wave of outages in some areas, not to mention spoiled food and loss of cell phone services. pg&e says improvements are still being made to the system. and then progress made in

the fawn fire thanks to the weather conditions. thousands arelad, at least 40 homes and buildings destroyed. the fire is now 45% contained. the scientists from palo alto pleaded not guilty to start that fire. coming up next on "today in the bay," hundreds of mourners say a final farewell to gabby petito, while the mystery surrounding her missing fiancé deepens. first, happening now, at least one person dead, and this is after a strong earthquake strikes greece damaging buildings. that 6.0 hit crete about five hours ago. schoolchildren were sent rushing from their classrooms outside, and after shots have been reported. we'll be right back.

developing now in montana, investigators are trying to figure out what caused an amtrak train derailment that killed three people. dozens more were injured. that crashed in northern montana on saturday. amtrak says the train was headed from chicago to seattle when eight of the train's ten cars derailed. and then gabby petito was laid to rest, and hundreds of mourners gathered, and her father told mourners not to be sad. >> gabby is the most amazing person i ever met. if you are going to leave here
