a very good thursday morning to you. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia. >> i'm marcus washington. want to get right to that red flag warning. kari hall, how is it looking? >> we are going to have hotter temperatures today. by the weekend the heat will be cranking up. by next week we will have a test of fall. looking at that red flag warning for parts of the north bay, you can see the areas shaded in red until 11:00 this morning. temperatures for the inland areas make it into the mid to upper 90s today for some spots inland. most of us in the 70s and 80s.

looking across the bridge, beautiful view of the city, clear skies and a clear drive for most folks heading in toward it were -- the bay bridge. 101 north at great america parkway, should be off to the shoulder. an easy drive. tiny blip on the altamont pass. families with back rent piling up may soon be evicted. alameda county has local eviction moratoriums that continue to protect you. in contra costa county renters may get evicted as soon as tomorrow because the county does not have a local moratorium. tenant legal advocates say they are getting calls around the

>> that i didn't have to use my mask anymore if i have been vaccinated, which i have. great news. >> reporter: according to the santa cruz department of health the county has dropped into the yellow tier and that triggered an immediate lifting of the mask mandate rules. hospitalizations are also trending downward. in san francisco the mayor says the city is considering adjusting its indoor mask rules. >> we're seeing the numbers decline. many of the indoor venues require that people are vaccinated. >> reporter: they will consider relaxing or removing the indoor mask rule based on transmission rates. the president of the board of supervisors says it's too soon. >> personally i would like to wait until january to see what happens.

january/february considering we're entering those winter months. >> reporter: in santa cruz county you will still have to keep your mask onto go into a medical facility, a senior care facility and a school. some businesses are still asking customers to put their masks onto go in. several businesses we asked say they plan on keeping their masking policy in place for at least a couple weeks. >> i wear it as long as they want me to wear it. i don't really care either way. i kind of like it. it's cool. >> the cdc with a new urgent advisory for expectant women, get that covid vaccine. that's the guidance coming after more than 125,000 pregnant women have contracted covid. 22,000 have been hospitalized. symptomatic pregnant women have doubled the chance of being admitted to the icu with a of d

t. as we get a look at our air quality, we're starting out good this morning with a lot of green dots. that means good air quality. enjoy the cooler temperatures in the trivalley. we're starting out with low 50s, temperatures slowly warming up. it will be warmer this afternoon compared to yesterday. take a look at these highs, low 90s for concord and antioch. livermore heating up. we'll have more on that coming up. >> southbound 101,not northbound at great america parkway, a crash there. not a lot to follow in the south bay. not a lot to follow in the bay right now. a smooth drive all over the

morning. the dow and s&p 500 are both higher but the nasdaq fell for the fourth straight day. tech is the worst performing sector this week. the move coming after the yields on u.s. government bonds rose again, now up about 1.5% for the ten-year yield. that's going to impact your mortgage rate if you're looking to refi. that pressures tech stocks because it makes their future earnings look less attractive. we'll get reports on the weekly unemployment claims, manufacturing and the final read on third quarter gdp. facebook in the hot seat in washington. it's under fire for internal data shows gram is harmful to teens. now it plans to highlight what it argues are more positive impacts of insta. facebook's global head of safety will testify before a senate

hearing today. according to her written testimony, she's going to detail the company's efforts to better protect children and teens online, which includes defaulting users under the age of 16 to private accounts when they sign up for instagram. google maps is rolling out wildfire tracking. google says the new feature builds on the wildfire boundary map it introduced last year. it's aimed at helping people make quick decisions during emergencies. you'll be able to see details about the fire, including how much has been contained, the acreage that's already burned and the time that the information was last reported. there will also be linked to emergency websites and help line-ups and evacuation details provided by local governments. that's certainly something that would be very useful these days with so many wildfires.

a very good thursday morning to you. taking a live look outside, that's a lovely sight to see, san francisco skyline this morning, how clear it is this morning. >> i know. that leaves way to see all the beauty that the bay area has for us this morning. >> you're so poetic this morning. >> thank you. >> wow. >> we're watching a couple of things here. our temperatures are going to be heading up. we have this red flag warning in effect for these north bay mountains. these areas will have high wind gusts until about 11:00 this morning and then the winds will

be calming down. a spark in the grass and very dry vegetation could spark a fire very quickly as our relative humidity levels are very low. we take another look at this view in san francisco. i'm noticing that the fog, once again, is all gone and we're going to start out with a clear sky for today. usually we start to see those temperatures really heating up, but we have a westerly wind that's going to keep it fairly mild for today. reaching 83 in milpitas. we'll see some low 90s for concord and antioch but mostly upper 80s from martinez down to pleasanton. oakland reaching the upper 70s.

it will cool down our temperatures. as we check out antioch we're in the upper 80s and low 90s, mid 90s for the weekend. take a look at the cooldown in the extended forecast. next weekend is going to be so much cooler. it may be about 20 degrees cooler compared to this upcoming weekend. so one more weekend of high heat reaching into the low to mid 90s. >> it's moving very smooth. light traffic flow. the golden gate bridge still has

lane restrictions on the northbound side. traffic flows smoothly despite that. over at the bay bridge, no problem getting over there. however, i just heard about some debris that may be across lanes. there may be some activity heading out of walnut creek. south bay just that one crash on the shoulder great america parkway southbound 101. now to a live look at sfo. heading home for the holidays may get a little more complicated. senator diane feinstein wants proof of vaccination or negative covid test for travel within the

u.s. doctors believe the requirement could also help prevent another holiday covid surge. >> reporter: millions of americans fly around the country during the holidays. covid cases tend to spike after those trips. >> movement of people definitely leads to an increase or bump in cases. we've seen that so many times in the last year whenever there's a holiday. >> reporter: senator diane feinstein tweeted, we can't allow upcoming holiday air travel to contribute to another surge in covid cases. today i introduced legislation requiring passengers on domestic flights to be vaccinated, test negative or be fully recovered from a previous covid illness. >> increasing that safety zone a little bit more. >> reporter: a doctor says the policy would help reduce the spread of covid. >> 100% it's time. other people are doing it.
