activities, and it all starts at 10:00 a.m. thank you so much for starting your weekend with us, i'm kira klapper. vianey arana joins us with a quick look at your micro climate forecast, and will it be a nice day to head out for the giants, the pumpkin fest, fleet week, so much going on. >> we have a ton going on, and you know, it is going to be feeling a little more like fall around here which i think a lot of folks would appreciate. we were also monitoring the chance of seeing a spotty shower or two. let's get right to our satellite and radar. you can spot it here. if i zoom in closer, you can see a little bit of drizzle. here's the thing, the majority is falling apart before it makes it to the surface. our chances of seeing any rain really start to diminish by the hour. you can see some of it making its approach in through the santa cruz area, monterey, as well as spotty showers through san francisco. now, as we head in towards the afternoon, these 50s i'm waking up to now are actually going to be rather cool. we're at 49 degrees in san jose.

pretty chilly compared to what we have seen. look at the 24 hour temperature change, a 2 degree difference. morgan hill, nevada, 5 degrees cooler and the temperature trend for the afternoon is going to be in the upper 60s. low 70s. full forecas a few minutes. >> we'll see you soon. you hear it there, folks. beat l.a. and beat l.a. they did. orange october is in full swing. it was a night to remember ass san francisco giants dominated game one in this best of five playoff series againsts l.a. dodgers. oracle park was packed to the brim with fans from both teams in the national league division series. buster posy gave the giants an early lead with a two-run homer, but that guy you see there is the one who stole the show. pitcher, logan webb, the 24-year-old rockland native took the mound, making his playoff debut as the starting pitcher and led a shut out against the

defending world series champion dodgers. webb pitched 7 2/3 scoreless innings with ten strike outs. >> i keep saying you dream of these moments growing up as a player, and just be able to be a part of it and do it is something that's special for sure. >> the giants took game one 4-0. a great way to usher in a bustling weekend in the city. game two of the nlds is tonight at oracle park. first pitch is at 6:07. and of course it was a dream night for the giants and for their fans as well. did you know that this is the first time the giants and dodgers are facing off for the division title since the teams moved out west. cheryl hurd was at the game and takes us there. >> reporter: a lot of exciting people at oracle park, fans celebrating a win against the dodgers.

shine. >> a lot of game left. a lot of game left. >> it's okay. he's going home by himself. >> one small step for the world series. >> cheryl hurd, "today in the bay." >> thousands upon thousands of people are expected to pack into san francisco this weekend for fleet week as cheryl mentioned. the blue angels have been showing off the tricks in the skies. the fun isn't just above. it's also in the water. some of the military shifts in town for fleet week are offering tours to the public. a warning, as always, to expect delays getting around town. muni will be offering extended services and extra lines. for those driving, there will be more traffic officers on duty to keep things flowing. fleet weekends on monday. and in addition to the extended service for muni, there are other options to help avoid driving and parking. caltrain will continue its weekday schedule throughout the weekend for the fleet week

year during a game with another mexican soccer club, cruz asul. the man who jumped out of the stands threw punches at a quakes player. while they were arresting that man, a crowd followed them into the parking lot. some of those people got involved in a fight that left two people hurt. shifting gears now, there are new guidelines that could put an end to indoor mask mandates. next friday independent from the new bay area guidelines, san francisco is easing its mask requirements. the mayor's office announced restrictions will be lifted inside offices, gyms, religious gatherings and college classrooms. it's all provided that there are fewer than 100 people. the new rules will not apply to places unvaccinated children might frequent including stores and restaurants. it's not just san francisco, marin county says it's going to

loosen mask mandates in several indoor settings, also starting this coming week. here's "today in the bay." >> reporter: marin public health officer dr. matthew willis says they're making the changes because they're simply following the science. the venues will need to verify 100% full vaccination of people inside with no test out options, have controlled access and include no more than 100 people at a time. >> that includes gymnasiums, college campuses, college classes, offices, you might imagine ten individuals in the same office every day. all are fully vaccinated. >> the rules are essentially the same as those announced by san francisco and both are sticking to rules adopted by the rest of the bay area counties when it comes to other venues like bars, restaurants and larger indoors events. >> it ties to case counts,

vaccination rates and hospitalization rates. for ma to be 18 cases or less per day for a three week interval. >> marin county is down to 18 cases per day. if that level remains or drops, further restrictions could be lifted. ucf professor of infectious diseases, peter hong says other counties have similar stats. >> other counties are san mateo, and santa clara, and contra costa, alameda. >> reporter: i did check with the public health offices in san mateo and santa clara. they will not be issuing modifications to masking rules right now. they are going to stick to the rules that all of the bay area counties agreed to this week. san jose residents in japan town are feeling mask fatigue but fine with the rules for now. >> nobody likes to wear a mask. my ears hurt all the time from wearing t but it's more important to keep everybody safe. >> if they get rid of indoor

masking, it's fine either way. people who want to mask will mask. >> in san jose,. there are three benchmarks your county must hit before moving forward. county health officers are warning people it might be a while before we meet the requirements to drop indoor mask requirements, the first requirement is covid casecount. high, substantial, moderate low, health officers say the county must meet the cdc's yellow, which is the moderate transmission tier. you can see none of the nine counties. they're all in orange or red or the substantial tier. napa is still in the red, the high transmission tier and one more important point, the county must say in the tier for three weeks. the second requirement is hospitalizations. health officers say they must be low and stable. it will be up to the health officers to decide what that means in each county.

. welcome back, it is just shy of 7:14. a beautiful cotton candy sky over look the transamerica pyramid and the bay. what a gorgeous way to start a busy weekend for the city. we have the giants, we have fleet week, the warriors offering an open practice. so much going on. vianey arana has your full micro climate forecast in just about three minutes from now, but first, a federal appeals court is allowing texas to temporarily resume its ban on most abortions. on wednesday, a federal judge temporarily blocked that ban. that's because the biden administration is challenging the law's constitutionality saying it goes against roe v. wade. abortion collins rushed to reopen. texas repealed the ruling. the justice department hasst a .

if that happens, the ban would remain in effect indefinitely until it's appealed again. the law is the strictest in the country effectively preventing women from getting an abortion after six weeks of pregnancy. it also allows private citizens to sue anyone who performs or helps a woman get one. developments now in southern california where oil and tar from that orange county oil spill is now showing up on the coast in neighboring san diego county. the u.s. coast guard is investigating the spill which they now believe the damaged pipe was snagged by an anchor long before it started leaking. tens of thousands of gallons of oil spilled into the ocean after the pipeline ruptured last weekend. at a press conference, the coast guard investigators say an anchor may have snagged the pipeline up to one year ago. it's looking into every single ship that passed in the area that the pipe is. 5,000 gallons of crude have been recovered from the ocean.

a glimmer of hope for the troubled millennium tower. our investigative team has learned crews will move forward with a key test that could help determine if it's safe to restart the fix for the leaning high-rise. some experts fear the test itself could make the tilting tower lean even more. so the city of san francisco is requiring millennium to bring in an independent expert to advise if it's safe to continue. that consultant just gave the okay. crews will start digging a 3 foot wide hole next tuesday to install a steel casing, designed to hold a support pile, but the plan requires all work to stop immediately if the building settles more than a quarter of an inch at the corner of mission and fremont street. the millennium tower is currently leaning more than 22 inches to the west. governor newsom is now weighing in on tesla's big move to texas. >> he has invested untold amounts of money in this state

to create thousands and thousands of jobs but more important, he's pushed out the boundary of what's possible. as we have been reporting this week, ceo elon musk announced he's relocating tesla's headquarters from palo alto to austin, texas. governor newsom added he's encouraged by musk's commitment to increase production at tesla's production plant here in fremont. now, to a covid outbreak among north bay sheriffs deputies, it has attorneys and prosecutors worried and angry. all of the deputies work in the sonoma county courthouse, nine bailiffs tested positive last month. defense attorneys say they were never notified. the deputies were all vaccinated. health leaders aren't commenting, citing privacy. court administrators tell nbc bay area, they got inadequate information from the sheriff's department, but the sheriff's department insists its courtroom sergeant went quote, above and

beyond with contact tracing. b.a.r.t. may soon impose its own vaccine mandate. the regional rail agency's board of directors will vote on a new proposal to require all employees to get vaccinated by december 13th. exceptions will be made for some employees who qualify for a reasonable accommodation or a religious exemption. the board will vote on the mandate next week. and a live look for you in san francisco. the bay bridge this time, with those cotton candy skies, the city will now require all contractors who work alongside employees on a regular basis to be vaccinated. mayor london breed issued this new order. if a contractor who falls under the order doesn't get vaccinated, their employer could remove them from the job. this comes following the city's existing vaccine mandate for its 35,000 city employees. and happening today, in the south bay, the parade of champions is back in person in santa clara. this is video of the parade back

in 2019. of course last year it was all moved virtual. the parade route starts at monroe street at market street. police say parking is not allowed along the parade route. it began in 1945 and became a legacy in santa clara. it starts at 11:00 this morning. and also happening today, the warriors are hosting an open practice at chase center. this comes after their big win over the lakers last night. all tickets are $5, and proceeds will go to the warriors community foundation. fans ages 12 and older are required to show proof of full vaccination to enter chase center. younger fans will be required to show proof of a negative covid test within 72 hours of the event. the practice starts at 11:30 this morning. we have warriors, the bay area. let's check in with meteorologist vianey arana with a look at your full micro

climate forecast. >> it's going to be a nice day. starting chilly for some, 40s, which is chilly in the south bay where the station is located. satellite and radar, what is it showing. we are monitoring the chance to have seeing a spotty chance of rain or two. we are seeing some on radar, however, the majority of this is falling apart before it really gets to reach ground. we're not getting much in the way of actual measurements of rain. just the cloud cover that accompanies with it. if you spot a little bit of drizzle along the coastline, snap a picture. we're going to see that clearing out for this afternoon. and current temperatures in the 40s. santa rosa, 44 degrees. napa, 46, and of course we've got our 50s and a couple of upper 40s through fairfield, 49 degrees. let's talk about the temperature change within the past 24 hours because up through novato, it's about 5 degrees cooler, through concord, 6 degrees cooler, and we are going to be enjoying a lovely afternoon. pretty seasonal in the 60s and 70s for today.

so once we get a little bit of that clearing sky into the afternoon, we're going to warm up to the 70s, 72 degrees for san jose. san francisco in the upper 60s, santa rosa, 73. and i want to break down your forecast by the hour because we have a lot going on. here it is, the game today against the dodgers for the giants, we're going to be heading there, we're going to remain in the 60s. good news, you don't have to worry about the rain if you're going to tonight's game. pretty cool overall. if you've never been to san francisco, definitely bundle up. it gets a little chilly once you get out of the game. that's for sure. another thing we're looking out for is fleet week. you definitely want to head to nbcbayarea.com and check out the full details about the hours, when you can catch the air shows, all that good stuff. things are pretty good. by 3:00, 4:00, the winds are expected to pick up. keep that in mind when you see the windchill effect kick in, it does feel cooler. another thing heading into

tomorrow is going to be high fire danger because the winds are expected to start kicking up and this goes into effect starting at 11:00 p.m. sunday through tuesday. especially for the north bay mountains, the east bay hills, in through some of the higher elevation areas. let's take a look at some of those wind speeds. notice 20, 30 miles per hour winds. if i fast forward the time line through monday, it's looking like the gustiest day of the week so far. 41 miles per hour in napa. going to keep a close eye on that. once the rain moves out, pretty clear, and things get dry. looking out ahead to monday we're going to see the chance of seeing more sierra snow and maybe even a chance for drizzle in the sierra, lake tahoe area. inland yas, fire watch goes into effect late sunday into monday. we're going to keep a close eye on that. >> we'll be crossing our fingers for that. it's 7:22. we have much more ahead on

good saturday morning. it is 7:42, and we are starting out a little cool around here. cloudy, of course, in san francisco. this is a live look, 55 degrees right now. now, we are monitoring the spotty chances, but the majority isn't making it to the ground. before i get to that, look at this in san jose. the camera is blown out. a bit more sunshine into the interior valley. 52 degrees. as you head out the door, 40s and 50s are eventually going to warm up. remain cool in the 70s. here's a closer look at satellite and radar and this is what we have been tracking the past couple of days. you can see we're spotting a little bit of shower activity but again, the majority of this is breaking apart before it makes it to land. we're not getting much in the way of like measurable rain around here. the 24 hour temperature change, take a look at this. novato, 5 degrees cooler. concord, 6 degrees cooler, and morgan hill, 7 degrees cooler. what can we expect for forecasted highs. it's going to be comfortable around here. 70s in san jose. san francisco is going to remain

in the upper 60s and we are going to get some much better clearing in the interior valleys so i do want to get to some of those important forecasts, of course the game with the giants and dodgers. 66 degrees right before first pitch at 6:07. we're going to remain in the low to mid-60s. keep in mind we're also expecting for the wind to kick up a little bit, so the windchill factor will start to play a role shortly after 3:00. speaking of, you know, things to do today. we've got san francisco fleet week, and here's a closer look at your temperature trends, so things are going to clear out a little bit more into the afternoon. look at the temperatures, they're going to remain in the upper 60s. again, we're going to see the wind get breezier into this afternoon, and then by 5:00, we'll be down in the mid-60s. speaking of the wind, as we head in towards tomorrow night and monday, we are expecting the winds to gust. this will mean high fire danger. this will go into effect,

remaining into effect 5:00 p.m. tuesday. the north bay, and east bay hills, and elevations above 1,000 feet. because of the low humidity and the dry conditions, this could result in rapid fire growth, which is something we never want to see. so let's take a look at how gusty some of those conditions will be. notice the time stamp. this is monday around midnight. we start to see winded kicking up, 20 plus miles per hour. monday afternoon, 38, 41, 43 for san francisco. san jose 41. the gustiest conditions are expected to be between monday and tuesday. we're going to remain dry for the next couple of days. we're looking out into monday night. we have a system that could bring the chance of seeing more rain and snow for the sierra, which is fantastic news. we definitely want to see snow in the sierra but we're going to monitor winds very closely heading into monday and tuesday. i'll send it back to you. a lot to keep track of. thank you so much. we have more after the break. we hope you stick with us.

as we have been mentioning, it's fleet week in san francisco. sailors and marines are in the city, as big ships and thundering fighter jets pass through the golden gate bridge. the biggest ship to visit san francisco this fall was already here, and we got an inside look at it. "today in the bay's" jonathan bloom takes us on to the uss tripoli. >> in terms of size there's not many vessels that are larger than ours. the amphibious force is considered like a 911 force,

ready to respond to an emergency around the globe. i would say this is the best ship in the navy but i'm sure people on other ships would argue that. the uss tripoli, making its first visit to san francisco, a floating island, home to 1,100 sailors. the view is incredible, and it's always change sglg this is the flight deck. >> this is a work out going up the steps. >> absolutely. >> this is the flight deck. this is the busiest part of the ship. >> is the view always this nice? >> we hope for it to be this nice every time, but got to take what we can get sometimes. >> and usually when you look out here, you just see ocean. >> yes, sir, when you come out here, all you see is water. >> when you were coming under the golden gate bridge, everyone was standing on the rails. >> it was 9/11, so it was an homage to the fallen and also for the city. >> what is it you love about being up here? >> i'm a high energy guy, so i

can't stay still so i like being up here. constantly keeps you on your feet, keeps you busy. >> would we normally be standing here? >> absolutely not. this is where aircraft take off. you have to be behind the foul line. everything on that side is where all the aircraft, hospitalers, jets or whatever take off and land. >> what's it like if you're standing next to a plane that's taking off here. >> it's going to blow you back, push you back. you do not want to be standing here when that aircraft is taking off. vertical. >> it can take off vertically? >> yes, and the f 35s take off vertically or launch off the deck. that's why we don't need a whole lot of runway, 844 and we're good to go. >> we have a rolling airframe missile, the r 2 d 2 looking thing, we call that the closed in weapon system. it's a gatlin gun, six barrels,

circumstances. health leaders say venues need to verify 100% full vaccination of people inside in order for people to go maskless. the rules are essentially the same as those announced by san francisco. san francisco and marin will loosen restrictions this coming friday. and both counties are sticking to rules adopted by the rest of the nine bay area counties when it comes to other venues like bars, restaurants, larger indoor events. the ability to go maskless will all be based on all counties staying in the yellow tier of transmissions, hospitalizations staying low, and vaccination rates getting higher. tonight is game two of the national division league series at oracle park. the giants blanked the dodgers last night for game one, further deepening the team's rivalry. the game starts at 6:07 tonight at oracle park. and if sports really aren't your thing, fleet week is offering an array of activities. the blue angels have been showing off their tricks the last couple of days. some of the military shifts in
