we are on air and online right now. we have a lot to get to this morning. first, we want to get a look at that forecast for you. kari hall is tracking those strong winds in parts of the bay area. >> this event won't be as widespread as the winds we had to start out this week. we are seeing winds about 25-35 miles an hour. there may be some higher gusts as you go into late this morning into the afternoon. the winds look to calm down

fairly quickly. a lot of us in the valley won't get the high wind gusts. we're starting to see temperatures come up a few more degrees with mid to upper 70s today. it's going to feel a little bit more seasonable and fall-like. we do continue this warming trend into the weekend. we'll have more on that coming up. might take that long to get a cleanup crew ther to clear up the oil on the off ramp. none of the bridges have the wind advisory. there are some gusts out there,

though, so keep that in mind. smooth, green traffic. back to you. the san francisco police officer's union with a new vaccine mandate in effect. >> up to 200 police officers and firefighters are set to be among those who are not vaccinated. they are required to go on leave. >> let's cut all crap and be real about this. what are you asking people to do? >> reporter: police union vice president says city health officials won't approve officers' requests for religious exemptions or health exemption requests for those who have already had covid. 120 officers won't be able to go on control. >> only the most important calls are going to be answered. >> reporter: noise complaints and mental health emergencies are among the calls that may get no response.

62 degrees dropping down to the mid 50s. you add in a wind and it does feel even cooler. we are going to see win about 1 an hour. higher winds over parts of the sacramento valley and the delta as well as the upper elevations for the north bay. i'm watching all of that. we'll talk more about the fire danger coming up in a few minutes. >> higher winds not so much a factor across the bridges. reports of a disabled vehicle westbound, then someone hit that vehicle from what i understand. so there may be debris on westbound highway 4. do watch that if that is your longer drive. be prepared, you may have to slow a bit.

>> we are going to see those gusty winds coming in to parts of the north bay as well as the delta. once again we have to deal with high fire danger. those winds will not be as widespread and most of us in the valleys won't feel those high winds like we had on monday and tuesday. temperatures warm upstarting today, continuing tomorrow. the first part of the week is feeling summer like, but then we head back to fall for sunday. the red flag warning still highlighting parts of solano county. most of the rest of the high winds and high fire danger will be to the east of us. we're looking at some of these areas that are going to be dealing with not only high winds, but extremely low humidity. this shows the relative humidity as we go into today. it's not going to be as dry. you can see some of those

relative humidity numbers at 15% or less as we go into the middle of the day. then it starts to come up a little bit more as we go into tonight and early tomorrow morning. temperature wise, we're headed for the mid 70s today, so this is going to feel warmer than we've seen recently. we're up to 80 today in antioch and oakland reaching 72, 64 in daley city. north bay highs reaching up to 78 degrees in sonoma and ukiah. still pretty comfortable. looking ahead, we are going to see a lot of dry weather, but once again, our temperature still changing. going into next week, we watch a storm system approving, a couple of waves of rain reaching into far northern california and weakening as it gets here. we will have a nice cooldown. in santa rosa we're mild today.

we see temperatures up to the mid 80s for friday into saturday and back down for sunday. look at temperatures as we go into much of the rest of next week. we're looking at still a spike in temperatures, but it doesn't last that long. we're going to see highs in the 80s for the inland valleys for tomorrow and saturday and then the big cooldown on sunday, continuing to feel like fall for much of the rest of next week. san francisco going briefly to the 70s today and back to the 60s for the rest of the weekend into early next week. mike, you're seeing changes with that crash. >> i am. the good news for contra costa county is the wind advisories are across the bridge. the bad news is that disabled vehicle for highway 4 in toward pittsburg where the freeway is closed right now. westbound highway 4 is blocked because of a crash from a

disabled vehicle that was hit. all four lanes affected there. tow truck crews should head out there right now. loveridge is past the crash and the backup. you can get there on the north side of the freeway as well. don't know when they'll have those lanes clear. the rest of the bay shows a nice green sensor read. one man is in custody after a fire in an east bay homeless encampment that almost spread to nearby homes about 6:00 p.m. yesterday in antioch when he struck someone with a pipe and then lit a rag and set that encampment on fire. those flames spread to a hillside on spalding street, which firefighters put out before it caused any real damage. the person hit with the pipe suffered minor injuries. an alert neighbor photographed

the suspect, which helped lead to arrest. affordable housing takes center stage in oakland. three events promoting build back better campaign which is facing an uncertain future in congress. the agent includes investments in affordable housing and economic development. a popular north bay beach spot has a new owner but the question is who. johnson's beach was purchased by an unidentified bidder. the beach sits on 10 acres along the russian river. the current owners rejected sonoma county's offer to take over the property. they were asking nearly $4 million. the owner can grant the county an easement allowing it to operate the beach, parking lot and concession.

from some of sonny and cher's biggest hits. cher says when they got divorced, they agreed to split revenues from the royalties. something she says mary bono has undone over the past few years. the suit seeks at least $1 million in damages. mary bono says she's not commenting at this time. the as fans and the as as well and the nbc family are all mourning the death of long time a's broadcaster and former all star catcher ray fosse. he died at the age of 74. back in august he stepped away from the broadcasting booth after announcing he was battling cancer for the past 16 years. he works as a broadcaster for 35 years before announcing his career. in his retirement he was an all star catcher joining the a's in
