we begin right now with developing news in the south bay, this fire is set by firefighters to prevent wildfires growing out of control because of gusty winds. smoke can be seen from miles. this map shows where the fire was burning, not far from highway 152. about 150 acres have burned so far. people in the area are under evacuation orders and others are on standby. sergio quintana reports. >> reporter: cal fire and neighborhood fire departments are throwing plenty of resources of getting a happened l of what they're calling the estrada fire. some residents are anxiously watching the fire from ridges and rooftops trying to get an idea of the progress fire crews are making.

some evacuations have been ordered and a shelter has been set up. angela henson says her neighborhood is ready to go in a moment's notice. >> they have their cars loaded up and cages ready to go for their cats. all important photos and paper work are in their car, they're ready to evacuate. should they feel the need the fire is going back over the hill. we won't wait for full evacuation orders because we have seen too much in the past. too much loss in the past when people had full evacuation orders. >> reporter: she raced home after work from the peninsula to make sure their horses and other livestoc are safe. she's not happy that cal fire is responsible for the burn and got out of control. the winds have died down and it's a lot cooler than earlier this afternoon. >> that was sergio quintana

reporting for us. several people are recovering this morning after this transit bus crashed into a east bay home. it happened in west oakland yet after a stolen car smashed into the bus, injuring several people and trapping that homeowner inside. the wheelchair bound man was stunned and stuck upstairs for hours. cheryl hurd spoke with that owner about this ordeal. >> reporter: after being trapped upstairs for hours. daryl finally came down to assess his home. >> the man was begging for by standers to help him. >> reporter: he says he can only see sheet rocks and water when he looked over his banister. he had no idea what everyone else was seeing outside. he heard the chaos. >> there was screaming going on,

after that was the big bang. >> reporter: this ac transit bus crashing into his home on 10th and market. it was a result of a police chase involving a stolen car. chp spotted it in contra costa around 2:00 p.m. when the chase got too dangerous, authorities say they pull back and start tracking the car from the air. the car ending up in oakland and slamming into the bus. the bus careened into the home. >> i know the first thing i saw when officers got here was the upper hand guys. >> reporter: weapons were taken from the car. >> we had vehicular homicide right here and that was within the last two years. >> reporter: mercedes rodriguez says this crash does not surprise her. >> this is about the third or fourth time there is an accident

on this property right here. >> reporter: meshack says something needs to be done to make this corner safer. he would like to see this city or ac transit help pay for the damage. cheryl hurd, "today in the by bay." police say a man started shooting at the officers and then a prolong gunfight ensued. the shooter barricaded himself inside his car. police were able to remove him and he was able to take to the hospitaly use for the johnson & johnson booster. the cdc is expected to approve both boosters by halloween.

the pfizer booster you may recall was authorized in september right now only pfizer is the option for a booster. but pfizer is limited to only certain groups. as for the j&j booster, it's wide open for anyone 18 and older, it should be given two months after your initial dose. the booster roll-out is added to the rolling debate after the vaccines. >> how many booster shots are we going to take? >> for the rest of our lives? >> exactly? how long is it going to be for? >> the fda is continuing debate on whether patients will be allowed to mix or match boosters. there is some research that shows getting two different vaccines can provide stronger protection against the virus. the cdc updated its list of factors that qualify someone for a boosters and tha

millions more people will be eligible for a booster. you will have to add the third dose to your vaccine record. >> if you get a covid-19 vaccine booster, your record needs to show it. let's take a look at how to do that accurately. first, when you go to our appointment, bring your paper record card with you, the doctor or nurse should add your booster to your shot. what if you forgot your card or lost it? you should still go to your appointment, they'll give you a second card. california public health says the people who gives you the shot will give you additional vaccine card to supplement the vaccine card left at home. if you can't find your original card, here is how to replace it, contact the clinic that gave you your first shot.

get in touch with your state's immunization for a replacement. the cdc has a list of them with contact info.. snap this qr code to look up your state. after a booster, your digital record or qr code should update automatically. california recommends you wait two days for your booster to show up. if it's not there after two days, ask the office to update the state's register or contact the state yourself and provide the details on your card. speaking of your card, take new photos of it with the new booster information on there. save those images to the cloud and save them on your favorites on your phone, that way is easy to pull up where ever you are required to show proof of vaccinations. keep your card some place safe where it won't get damage and you won't lose it. >> we know it can be confusing to keep up with the latest guidance about vaccines and

bill clinton's hospitalization. he stayed over night at uc medical center. he's recovering from an infection. doctors say he's responding well to antibiotics. such infections are not unusual for seniors. clinton under went a quadruple bypass in 2004. the law blocks any abortion after six weeks and give private citizens the power to sue anyone who aids or abets an asked the federal court to stop enforcement of the law earlier this month. a judge granted that request. the fifth circuit court of appeals overturned that on thursday. the law went into effect

september 1st. beginning november 8th, vaccinated travelers can enter the u.s., the united states will allow people from 33 countries who previously were banned because of covid. that'll include the u.k., france, italy and spain as well as china and iran. travelers will need to show proof of vaccination and a negative covid test taken within three days of travel. back here in the bay area, safari west is losing its gold standard of uphold its standards. they cited issues with theny is appealing that decision. once that happens, the association of zoo and aquarium has 45 days to make their final

decision. the water company is asking for a mandatory 15% cut back in water use due to the south bay's drinking reservoirs, they'll based that 15% on how much water you use back in 2019. if you don't cut back enough, you will have to pay a penalty, $7 for any 728 extra gallons you use. these cut backs will apply to customers in san jose, cupertino and los gatos and saratoga. >> more will be needed for 2022 if we don't make a significant effort right now. >> the california public utility commission will have to sign off on that mandate. the public hearing is coming up on october 28th. how much water a 15% cut back? the water district says the

average household uses 8,000 gallons of water per month. so 15% of that would be about 1200 gallons for some perspective, one shower uses about 10 gallons of water. okay, we'll talk about all those containerships stuck on the west coast. supply chain issues are heading back productions as the holiday approach. vickie nguyen has more on how one toy maker is trying to meet demand. >> reporter: here in pennsylvania, they are cranking out more than 450 products including these small parts of building sets. they are gearing up for an unpredictable season. >> try to shop early because it's going to be difficult coming through after thanksgiving. >> reporter: items like tapes and paper that takes three weeks to arrive now takes six to ten

a lot of sunshine that's going to be dominated today because of high pressure. i want to show you how the air quality is doing right now. the sensors are showing green which is good. we could see periods of moderate air-conditions and that'll be into the afternoon hours. we head into sunday, we'll see a shift in our weather pattern. let's get to today's daytime highs. it's going to be sunny and warm. you can see we got upper 80s in morgan hill. 88 degrees in san jose. 86 and 84 in milpitas. out through the east bay, mid and upper 80s. almost 90 degrees and we are supposed to be in fall even around the coastline, we are talking about mid and upper 70s. san francisco is going to be in the upper 70s. wind will be in from the southwest but 15 miles per hour at the north bay. 82 degrees. hour by hour outlook, here is the big change heading into tonight and into sunday, we have got a system just to our north that's going to drop down.

also bringing with it a cold front. this is going to bring in afternoon chance of showers. you will be the first to see it. notice the time stamp, we'll get rain pushing down through portions of santa cruz and south bay. we'll take what we can get. we are talking about a couple hundredths of an inch, maybe a quarter after ukiah. we'll take the drizzles for now because a better chance seeing rain chances ahead. that's the good news there. the first system is going to be quick to move. in towards friday and saturday, so next weekend it looks like this could be our best chance of seeing rain for the entire bay area into the weekend along with cooler temperatures which is definitely something we need, a quick reminder, exceptional category when it comes to the

including a 100 plus mile run shortly after 9/11. jack has raised more than $300,000. most of it going to various scholarships, activities and sport programs at oakland in san leandro high school. jack thought about stopping a few times but always thought it would be better. >> i am good at getting money for just causes and i need to do this again. >> reporter: it brings us to this year's fund raising run and one special goal for a place very special to jack. >> i love jack. >> reporter: assistant principal at oakland, fremont high school where jack's father went to school. >> reporter: fremont recently under went a $130 million renovations including its first ever regulation size football field.

good saturday morning, it's 7:42. get ready for a warm day ahead. plenty of sunshine, a live look right now in san francisco. current temperatures right now in the 50s. san francisco at 58 degrees. 53 degrees like i said, a lot of sunshine. enjoy today though because we do have a change in our weather pattern. currently we are in a couple of 40s ahead in santa rosa, 49 degrees right now. these are going to warm up by this afternoon. here is a closer look at your daytime highs. it's going to feel like summer out there. we still got this high pressure that's been keeping us nice and toasty the past couple of days. look at concord, 88 degrees and down to san jose, 86 degrees. even in the city, 76 degrees which is definitely pretty warm especially for this time of the year. enjoy the sunshine and enjoy warmer temperatures. however, if you are a fan of a

cozy day ahead. this is where we monitor, we have our hour-by-hour outlook. the first to see the rain around 3:00, areas in the north bay and look at what happens as the system pushes through. we'll get a little bit of rain down to portions of the south bay as well as the santa cruz mountains and into the evening hours, we got a cold front in addition to that. the winds are expecting to kickoff and temperatures are going to drop. as far as how much rain we are getting. i wish we could say a ton. it's going to be a couple hundredths of an inch. a little under half an inch through there. let's talk about what we got going ahead. the system is going to be quick active weather pattern heading into the middle of the week. north bay are going to see another chance of rain on wednesday. looking out ahead pushing the timeline further into next friday and saturday. it looks like we'll get to see
