and a very good morning to you. i'm laura garcia. maybe you're seeing wet roadways out there this morning, but it really depends on where you are. we've got you covered on air and online. let's check it out with vianey arama. she's filling in for kari hall. >> i saw at 1:00 in the morning some of those wet pavements out there. now for the most part we're seeing scattered shows start to move out. current temperatures in the 50s. wruning a few degrees warmer than yesterday. remember we had the 40s yesterday when we woke up? overall you can see we've got plenty of activity, a couple of showers pushing through the lake tahoe airy as well as some spotty snow. this is going to be the first storm of three.

this started to pass through last night. you see a couple of scant goin about the next two storms. now let's get a check of the roads with mike. >> a lot of our cameras are dry, but not this one. 580 westbound, this has the most water on the lens right now. you can see the water on the roadway as well. there will be mild puddling and ponding on the off and on-ramps. watch that. there's a report of a crash here as you're heading back in toward berkeley. no slowing. not a lot of detail. the bridges are smooth again, but you may have damp roadways, and as vianey says, there's more coming. there's an active shooter situation going on.

we have our crews from our nbc affiliate there. we're learning the police say the shooter is contained but not in custody yet. s.w.a.t. teams have been there for hours. there are not a lot of details. traffic around the area has been shut down. no word on injuries. also leaders are looking to ease the indoor mask mandate. supervisors discussed that proposal yesterday. it would consider groups of up to 100 people. that includes gyms, fitness centers, as well as religious gatherings, college classes, and other groups that meet regularly. developing this morning in san francisco, our investigative unit has confirmed 40 police officers have been placed on

leave because they're not vaccinated for covid. we also learn that 59 other unvaccinated officers already on leave for other reasons may be next. sources tell us if they return to work and still have not received their vaccines, they'll be placed on leave. this is called a pathway for taermgs that makes a total of 99 officers who could ultimately be fired if they don't get vaccinated. there are about 2,100 officers on the force. the leave would be just under 5%. a statement was sent to us. quote, unfortunately the city's rush to termination officers will make our city less safe. the city has botched and bungled it and then demanding a do-over. san francisco is experiencing a shooting and retail theft epidemic and fewer officers will

only make things worse. we have reached out to the mayor's office but have not heard back. a south bay mother arrived to the airport yesterday. these photos were given to us by a passenger on the same flight. o'connor was in a wheelchai. one woman is a mother of one of the victims who attended the party. >> oh, she 100% lied to us. she gained our trust and she betrayed our trust, and it's very, very violating. our town is struggling. and it's not just the children. it's other parents, moms. we feel superviolated. >> o'connor faces charges of child abuse and sexual assault. among the accusations, giving

alcohol to her son and other teenagers and then encouraging them to sexually assault each other. her bail is set at $1 million. when are we going to see the rain? let's check in with vianey. >> most of you missed the rain overnight, but you're not in the clear. we have more rain pushing through right now. we're going to get a couple of showers push through in through the san jose area. you see the line here. it's in the next half our or so. depending on when you plan to be out and about, you're going to catch those scattered showered. this is sort of what we were thinking out of this initial system is it was going to bring enough overnight to bring wet pavement into the early morning hours in some spots and keep spotty rain chances in through the afternoon. daytime highs will remain in the 60s. 63 in oakland.

a very good wednesday morning to you. taking a peek outside, that's a nice illuminated look at the san francisco bay. we'll check on the morning commute. you see folks crossing the bay bridge. but everybody is talking about this rain, vianey, when and where. some fell when we were all snoozing. >> yes. just like we forecasted, it came in late last night, into the overnight hours, and now we're seeing spotty rain here and there. that's going to continue this afternoon. you can see satellite/radar, a ton of rain in sacramento, but we've got instability. that's going to push through. the last of the burst of three systems into the afternoon. let's take a look at the hour-by-hour outlook. notice, it is spotty, not

widespread, and it's not going to be pouring throughout the day. but heading into the evening hours, by 11:00, we'll still get a spotty chance or two, heading into santa rosa, napa, fairfield. it will be light rain. not expecting heavy downpours out of this system. but heading in to tonight, we're going to get a mini break. then the next system moves in tomorrow night. forecasted highs for this afternoon are going to remain in the 60s. 68 in more gab hill, 67 in san jose, 62 in san francisco. it's going to be a cozy day. as far as estimated rainfall total, the first system was to bring a couple of inches, a tenth of an inch to the bay area. look at san jose. less than a quarter fell overnight honestly into the los gatos area.

look at late thursday into friday. we start to see a boost in the rainfall totals. a little over an inch and even down through portions of dublin and livermore. but another thing you're going to notice is it's still going to remain breezy to gusty at times especially around the coastline and peninsula. meanwhile into the interior valley, light breeze. san jose, 16 miles an hour in through the afternoon and tonight and it's going to linger and stagger into thursday. now, as far as this estimated snowfall totals, we're really excited about it. we saw a lot of activity into the mountain areas, and now this is pushing the timeline forward. keep in mind this isn't it going to be snow from what we saw last night. this is in addition to the thursday storm. and the saturday storm is going to start on sadr, pushing toward monday. several inches of snow are expected, especially for the

higher peaks. and the rain is look pretty good leading into late saturday, early sunday. look at this. this is where you're going to hear the talk of the atmospheric river. if we've man ammed to tap into that, we'll see several inches of rain especially in the north bay and higher elevation areas this. will bring some concern for burn scars heading into the weekend for possible debris flow. in addition to that, you'll see gusty conditions. as far as wintry advisories, i wouldn't be surprised if you're not told of one by the end of the weekend. look at this. showers for the first half of the day, mainly sticking to the coastline area. south bay not getting much of. this we're going to get amy nigh break at times in between. but thursday night into friday we get our second storm that moves in.

so tomorrow morning will be a little bit of a wetter commute. heading into friday and saturday, we'll get a little bit of a break the first of saturday. the third storm moves in. look at that seven-day forecast. it's stunning. i know you're thinking it's rain. you've got to remember, we're in a serious drought in the state of california, and this is a sight to see. now for a check on the roads, here's mike. >> over here t bay bridge. we showed you this, and i gave a few more seconds for the mist to develop. it's held pretty steady. the camera holding light and steady. we had the richmond bridge where the camera was covered in

droplets. same with the bay bridge. wet roadways out there. this crash still going on. this is going from 580 in toward berkeley. many people might pass by the area, getting toward the bay bridge. it's not affecting the speeds. chp is not there, so that very well could have cleared over the last few. a nice smooth dry. roads might be a little more wet. not past the antioch bridge. getting down here, there may be slicker conditions. watch out for this. the arrow pointing in the other direction. a smooth flow for tracy. watch the santa cruz mountains. it's dark and it can get windy. be careful. back over to you.

it's 4:51 for now. for now, no changes coming to the chase center after two falls at a packed concert. in one of those cases, a man from new york who flew in from new york to see the concert died. another in the upper deck landed on the fan below, landing both in the hospital. inspectors examined the facility yesterday. we spoke to a man who said he nearly fell. >> yeah. i deal with codes every day. i want to feel safe when i'm at the show. the general consensus between me and my friends, the conditions felt unsafe. >> he's filed a suit with the city. tomorrow the warriors play their home opener. daniel etlan testified

yesterday. he talked about the presentations sent to potential investors including rupert murdoch. defense attorneys tried to establish he had no part in the actual lab work. today they'll resume their cross-examination. also today scott peterson is scheduled to appear remotely for what may ultimately lead to a retrial. in december the judge plans to resentence peterson to life in prison for the murder of his wife lacey and their unborn sun. a trial date would still have to be set. it's 4:53. no strings attac.
