we want to get started with a look at weather and traffic. >> we still have spotty showers just like we forecasted yesterday. this is a little bit warmer than usual, 63 in san jose. here's a little monitoring out ahead. we are seeing instability out there. we have one system and now we're going to get our second system later tonight into tomorrow and then a third system which hopefully will be our biggest rainmaker heading into the weekend. the livermore area is probably

next to see the rain along with oakland. >> on the roadways here in oakland, slick and shiny conditions. 880 down to the coliseum there is a crash, a jackknifed big rig just shy of 980. there is slowing toward the port of oakland. chp is out there. it happened about 45 minutes ago. no word on any progress, but they are looking for a heavy duty tow truck to clear that. just watch the area. there will be slick roadway conditions. the golden gate bridge, you saw that water there. a couple incidents on the peninsula side of the dunbar

bridge. the south bay, east bay, tri valley and peninsula are all moving at speed. thousands across the bay area without power right now. let's look at the current power outages. this is the pg&e map. about 1400 customers are without power, most of them in the east bay. last year's grass fire destroyed homes in sky hawk community of santa rosa. they're concerned about potentially heavy rains on sunday. >> that's where we start to go from being glad to see the rain to not necessarily as thrilled about that level of intensity and that much rain, especially on our burn scars. >> fire trucks in santa rosa getting loaded up with swift water rescue equipment just in

case they see flash flooding later this weekend. >> similar concerns in the sierra where there could be increased danger in the caldor fire zone. the big concern, hazardous debris forming a dangerous mudflow. those worries will remin through the rainy season. if you have plans to head there, make sure you drive carefully. today we should learn the reason behind the mysterious deaths of a family from france who recently moved to the sierra foothills. they all died on a hike in mariposa county in august. at one point investigators were considering toxic algae blooms as a possible cause of death. other possibilities, though, drugs and foul play were all

ruled out. investigators plan to hold what they say will be the final news conference later this afternoon. bay area health officials are urging fully vaccinated older adults to get a booster to avoid landing in the hospital. >> reporter: bay area health officials are hoping vaccine clinics like this one will soon have all shots available for boosters. they say they're seeing an increasing number of people over 65 in the hospital with covid who were vaccinated but haven't had a booster. >> i'll feel better and know i'm protecting people in my community. >> reporter: kelly got her pfizer booster shot. more options for boosters are days away. the fda approved mixing and matching booster shots, a

little more of a light to moderate to heavy at times when it comes to those pockets of rain for that early morning commute for tomorrow. this system is also one of the weaker ones compared to what we're expecting for this weekend. i'll take you through the timing coming up. first let's get a check of the roads. >> still active rainfall and wet roadways. at the bay bridge toll plaza the plaza is clear itself, but do watch those speeds. the on ramp east bay 80 we still have a crash. the bigger concern because there's not a lot of slowing on the san francisco side is right here 880 southbound, both the crash at 16 and broadway both have slowing on the approach. also this win with the

oakland. a. good morning. wall street is set to open lower after the dow hit a new record high after yesterday's session. the s&p 500 closing just shy of its all-time high on the back of strong earnings reports. of the companies that have reported so far, more than 80% have beat profit forecasts. in focus today, reports on unemployment and home sales and tesla reporting a record profit and sales in the third quarter despite the global shortage of semiconductor chips. tesla sales continue to grow thanks to the increasing particularity of the more affordable model 3 sedan and

we're not in the clear just yet out of wednesday's storm. we've still got some wet roadways out there, so please remember to slow down. san jose, a live look there. it's exactly as we forecasted. it was cloudy with periods of random light rain here and there popping up into the evening. that's because there's so much instability in the atmosphere with all these incoming storms. zooming in, storm ranger shows spotty showers pushing through san francisco still, half moon bay as well. this is going to continue its trek into the afternoon. take a look at daytime highs today, mid to upper 60s, san francisco 65, oakland 66. we're not going to be too chilly, just cool and comfortable and cloudy. 69 degrees in san jose.

keep in mind that we have a second storm pushing in tonight into the overnight hours. where you see these pockets of yellow and orange, these are areas where it could be moderate to heavy at times. notice how it clears out friday afternoon. we get another break from the rain friday leading into saturday. estimated rain totals will be heavier through san jose and mill valley and guerneville. look at sunday night into monday morning, some of the highest totals in the coastal towns in the north bay. there's going to be a lot of rain shadowing through the south bay. those totals are going to be significantly less. this is the most rain potential that we have seen since january

of this year 2021. we're concerned because of all the burn scars out there with possibly debris flows. look at the snow we could potentially see. several inches of snow out of that system leading into the weekend. we're going to see another system moving in overnight into friday morning. we get a little bit of a break friday afternoon leading into saturday morning. then we get the arrival of that third system that's going to make for some of our heaviest rainfall. sunday afternoon into monday temperatures remain in the low to mid 60s. it's one of those cozy, comfortable rainy days. >> oakland has a series of crashes. i believe they're unrelated to each other along the nimitz.

880 south around 16th there's a jackknifed big rig blocking two left lanes toward 980 just past the bend there. two more crashes, one around broadway, the other around the embarcadero exit of downtown. these two lanes are blocked. the green highlighting here and over in san francisco and in other patches around the bay, that's our weather data translating to the traffic flow. might be slick on those roadways. do watch speeds as you approach curves and on ramps, off ramps. the other issue getting over

here from east palo alto in toward the dunbar on the bridge. seems to be a case of do as i say not as i do. santa clara county issuing a formal warning after the mayor of milpitas was seen without a mask on at an event. >> it's not the first time he's been accused of ignoring health guidelines. >> reporter: santa clara county's business compliance unit sent this letter. it says the county has received a complaint that you potentially violated the county health officer's order requiring use of face coverings indoors by anyone hosting an indoor event. the warning lists this address, the g bar on main street in milpitas. the mayor says he believes the complaint photo was taken back in july when masks were not

required indoors. the mayor declined to talk on camera, but sent this e-mail asking the county to rescind the warning. he writes there was no event that took place on the date of your letter. there was a karaoke event scheduled. however, due to covid risk, it was cancelled. the county says it did not find tran -- we asked milpitas residents how they felt a about the latest flap for a mayor no stranger to controversy. >> nothing in the world would make him exempt. >> glad he got a warning, because walking around if i'm not wearing a mask, i'd feel bad. i'd get a warning from someone. it's good to see the people
