and killed a popular cinemaing to if i. we'll update the condition of the film director who was also injured. this is today in the bay. a good friday morning to you. it's good to be with you. i'm chris sanchez. >> we have a lot to get to this morning. we want to get a look at your weather and your traffic. we are tracking the latest storm. >> good morning, storm number two of the three we have been tracking is moving through the bay area right now. a live look in san francisco. i just saw the rain coming down. you can see it on the sheen on the roads. here's a closer look at what we're monitoring. there are times where we could see heavier pockets of rain. it's just now started to strike closer to us. san francisco, you can see a couple pockets of light to moderate rain at times.

i'm going to push further south 3 we have our storm ranger. seeing some of that rain. half-moon bay as well. and so right now, nothing yet in the south bay. nothing in mountain view. fremont, but look on the way. this is going to be making its way in within the next 10, 15, 20 minutes or so into portions of the south bay and also the santa cruz mountains as well i'm going to take you through the timeline of the big storm we're tracking heading into the weekend. >> this is not the big one, but it looks big when it looks like at this chunkier version. east shore freeway, it came over from the north bay. colting down the peninsula it will be hitting 101. now south of the bridge, everything is a lot lighter and it's fine right now, but the big rain is starting to move in. the big deal is not on the

freeway. in the south bay, we have the pd continuing with an investigation of a deadly crash here at metcalf road. the alternate is 101. but police are have closed that intersection. so we'll have to avoid that. that's important for the southern portion. and an important note. we're talking about solo crashes, which may be more common as the rain comes in today. >> the storm triggered a new round of power outages. >> we want to see what the rain looks like coming down in your neighborhood. you can send us photos and videos of what's outside your window. and download the bay area app to the get an updated forecast right on your smart phone. developing this morning, a

decorated former police officer is in serious condition after he was shot during a gas station robbery. the whole thing caught on surveillance video. one of the attackers died. investigators are still searching for at least two other men. retired police captain is still recovering from emergency surgery here a at highland hospital in oakland. the chief of the oakland police department said he's in stable but serious condition. this all started with what police say was an armed robbery and this is a security camera video that shows how it all went down. you can see the retired captain holding his phone as he's pumping gas when three men roach him and appear to shake him down for valuables. the retired captain in the white shirt resist ises efforts, but the three men seem to be feeling his collar and see if he had anything else on him. one of the suspects in a black hoody opened the back-door of the white suv.

this activity can be. >> captain joiner retired from the department in 201 as one of the most decorated a officers in the opd. he came up through the ranks and was the head of the oakland fire program where police and community leaders meet with gang members to reduce gun violence. i spoke briefly off camera with a woman who now works with join er at a local marijuana dispensary. he's the co-owner of the joyus wellness group. he was supposed to be at a meeting ask never showed up. the coworker was shocked to hear he was involved. she came here to pray with joiner and his wife as he recuperates. >>. developing this morning, trying to unravel what went wrongen the set of a movie and a deadly shooting involving alec baldwin. he fired a prop gun that it discharged either a bullet or shrapnel. two people were struck. one died.

welcome back. you're taking a look at the fwolden gate bridge. not many cars on there, but a lot of rain on the roadways. we're going to be talking about it for quite sol time. you'll notice two reporters smiling that we're not out in it. so let's get right to your forecast. we are under a microclimate weather alert because of the fact that this succeed storm falls right in the middle of your morning commute. when you're joining us here early morning, you can see we have the sheen on the roadways. there's a period of time where it's coming down.

i want to show you exactly what we're looking at. so we have plenty of heavy pockets, but these are a little further up north we're still seeing light to moderate rain at times. especially for the next two to three hours. a little bit of rain pushing through san francisco. you can see oakland here. if you notice light to moderate on the color scale and if i push this south, you can see san mateo getting some of that rain. every time it highlights, we see moderate pockets and then i'm going to push this further south. just starting to reach mountain view. this is going to continue moving this way. so san jose, you're on deck along with fremont. down to the south bay, also the santa cruz pounce taints expect to see some rain as well. so highway 17 is a part of your morning commute. head out now. i know how dangerous and scary that road can get. forecasted highs for today, morning rain.

we're expected to see the strongest rain right between 4:00 a.m. and about 7:30. so during the morning show, and then we get an afternoon break. temperatures will be between 60, 67 degrees for the valleys. and then a little cooler around the coastline. i want to talk about the second storm. the biggest storm we're expecting out of this, october 24th. so right now the highest total still trending for the coastal mountains and the north bay, but we have bumped up potential rain totals from a little over half an inch to possibly 3 inches of rain. and as you know, we need it along with that snow. so if the model runs pay off, we will get plenty of rain up through the north bay. still expecting san jose to tall within that rain shadow, but if we push forward to monday, the model runs pretty confident but we make adjustments here.

that's going to make for dangerous travel commutes. so the break in the rain will be this afternoon into early saturday morning. and then that big storm if you look sunday and monday will be our really heavy rain days in the forecast. how are the roads doing? >> i know we the you to stick with us. the bridge is exactly like the radar shows. we see the rain coming in and the heavier stuff over on the peninsula side. so as we look at the map, we're talking about all of this going on. across 92. it's going to push down on deck. so that will be the issue. right now, the highlighted green shows you where it continues to be wet.

it hits the interchange around the time we have a lot more traffic coming in. light traffic flowing. and a lot of rain up there pushing towards the walnut creek area. so keep that in mind if you're driving through. smaller crashes on the shoulders there. tougher for the grip with these slick roads. back to you. >> definitely want to pay attention. san francisco's republican party will be sure to generate some bay area controversy when a lawmaker headlines an event in secrets sit. marjorie taylor greene will be the guest speaker at this year's lincoln reagan dinner. it will take place november 6th. it's believed san francisco is out of the question because she hasn't shared her vaccination status. the exact location will be announced prior to the event. octomonth.

a new study finds screenings at san francisco general dropped by nearly 40% in 2020 compared to the year before. the largest drop was among african-american women. in that subset, younger women were most likely to miss their it screenings during the first stay at home order. women over 70 were most likely during the second stay at home order. the study's author says we still don't know the full impact of that. >> that's something that we're definitely worried about as a cabser doctor community and oncology community of whether we're going to see patients coming in with larger tumors or tumors a that have spread to other places because screening tests were lost. it is too soon to really know that. >> the american cancer society recommends women age 40 to 44 get an annual breast cancer screening. women 45 to 50 should get an
