, a lovely friday afternoon, we are starting out pretty calm.

i want to show you the current temperatures as you head out the door. in 50s for now. i would still recommend some sort of jacket or umbrella. we do have a chance to see some shower activities. at least for the first half of the day. 24-hour temperature change. we have a few degrees cooler down to san jose. four degrees cooler in novato. we are expecting to keep our daytime highs in the 60s. we are not expecting a ton of rain today. we do have our own mobile doppler, this is up and scanning and working hard all week long. you saw the two storms already passed. we are anticipating the third storm which is expected to be a atmospheric event. i will take you through the timing of that storm and all the advisories attached with it coming up in a few minutes.

to neighborhoods that are likely to flood during big rain events. the emergency management will be opening its operation center this weekend ready to response to emergencies. >> after the last time we only had 18 inches of water compares to some of the other people who had 2 or 3 feet. >> her home in west portal has flooded before. this was video of 2019 with heavy rain on its way, many will spend some time sandbagging before sunday's expected downpours. hoping to prevent damage they see before. >> i do not leave anything on the garage or the room downstairs. >> work is underway. the work is not complete. wait and see. in other areas of the city crews are not waiting for trouble. they are working to prevent it.

baldwin and yelling cold gun which means the gun did not have any rounds. baldwin firing that gun and hitting helena hutchins, killing her when it hit her in the chest. we are told that souza is a fremont native and still lives there with his wife and children. >> two people accidentally shot by a prop gun. >> as words spread through hollywood of the tragic accidental shooting, it spreads here in the fremont neighborhood where joel souza, the director of "rust" grew up. >> joel is a good neighbor, he's helpful and we get along together. >> he always wants to be brightest.

i was shocked to see. >> reporter: actor alec baldwin was firing a prop gun for a scene when he accidentally shot and kill helena hutchins and injured souza. >> it's a terrible tragedy and you know you would want to see things like that are avoidable. the "today" show spoke with a hollywood veteran. when it comes to prop guns used, accidents like this should never happen onset. >> we have a strict protocol to follow when we are handling blank firearms onset and clearly something went wrong in that particular instance. >> reporter: authorities say the movie set is now the scene of an ongoing investigation and baldwin is fully cooperating. scott budman, "today in the

bay." >> alec tweeted in part, there are no words to express my shock and sadness. he's inhutchins' husband and offering him support for her family. oakland police are saying little about it. retired opd captain joiner remains in stable conditions in the hospital. he's recovering from an emergency surgery after he was shot multiple times on thursday. you see surveillance video from the west oakland chevron station shows a trail of men ambushing joiner, he's in the white shirt and black vest there at the bottom of your screen. one of the attackers go to search for joiner's car, east bay faith leader mike mcbride

works with joiner for years. joiner led a program aims to prevent homicides and other gun violence. he has this to say. >> we need to end this trend of robberies that are escalating to violent conflicts that ending people's lives being loss. >> the alameda county coroner's bureau have yet to release the name of the person who was shot and killed by joiner. no word on any arrests in that case. today is national prescription drug take back day. if you have old or expired prescription drugs, it's an ideal event to keep them out of the wrong hands. many agencies have drop off sites, you can drop off your prescriptions at any police stations and va across the bay area. the event allows people to drop off prescription drugs that are expired and no longer needed including opioids, no questions asked. to our coronavirus coverage

and kids are now one step closer to being able to get their covid vaccines. the child size doses of its covid vaccines are 91% effective in 5-11 years old. the drug makers released its data after tracking more than 2,000 children. pfizer says the shots are effective and preventing severe symptoms for people who contracted covid. the cdc must conduct its own review and give its own approval before the vaccines can be rolled out to children across the u.s. we have much more ahead on "today in the bay," halloween is a week from tomorrow, there are concerns of another covid surge, what health leaders are recommending to keep you safe while you have fun.

submitted for the recall election in june for chesa boudin. . nearly one out of every ten people in san francisco signed that petition. >> it says a lot of san francisco and what's going on in our community. people are still calling us and wanting to know if they can sign today so they can be part of the signatures that's being turned in. >> on thursday, boudin acknowledged the recall inevitable when he held his own rally. he has followed through on his campaign promises including reducing the number of juveniles in jail. he vowed to fight the recall. >> this had nothing to do with the facts or the real challenges

our community faces. this has everything to do with disrespecting the will of the people. >> if the recall goes into the ballot and san francisco voters to fire the district attorney, mayor london breed will be responsible to appoint assistant da until a new one can be elected next november. ride share lyft revealed its first safety report, more than 1800 sexual assaults happened in 2019. that's a 65% increase from 2017 but also noted that the total number of rides also went up. so apparently that means the overall percentage of assaults is down. in a blog post lyft says "safety incidents on lyft are statistically very rare, well over 99% of all rides occur without any safety report at all." happening today the

vietnamese american service center opens in san jose. it will offer services in vietnamese and spanish. it opens today at noon on center road in san jose. santa clara by the way is home to the second largest vietnamese population outside of vietnam. san francisco's longest operating brewery is going green. anchor steam's is drought aware. the 125 brewery collects treats and recycle the rinse water savoring 20 million gallons a year, don't worry though that recycled water does not go into the beer. the results is the largest commercial reused project in san francisco city's history. halloween is a week from

have purchased my children's costumes on time. before we get to halloween in a week, let's check in vianey arana for the forecast. it sounds like you said today is the day to get everything done, tomorrow you will want to be indoors. >> i can't wait to see your kids' costumes first of all. tomorrow is going to be a stormy sunday. look at how beautiful san jose looks right now. i say beautiful because i like the clouds in the sky. it looks serene. for what to come tomorrow. we got that storm nicely, which is why we have our storm ranger, we are the only one in the bay area has it. what this does is it scans a little bit closer to the surface and giving us higher resolutions. let's take a look at the hour by hour. right up here, it gives you an idea of the time stamp. we'll have the possibility of

seeing a couple of on and off showers, really for the first half of our morning and peninsula and san francisco and the north bay. not a ton of rain early on. as you notice in napa, we'll start to see some rain pushing in right around 7:00. this is when the big storm starts to move in. the heavy areas pockets of rain with the yellow and red highlights, that's where we are seeing downpours. a lot is focusing on in the north bay. the majority of south bay are still under a rain shadow. if you are wondering when the shout-out bay will see rain, notice how we start to see showers pushing into the south bay. some of the heavier pockets of rain for the south bay won't be until late tomorrow. sunday evening, over night and into tomorrow morning, we got

plenty of sierra snow. look at this, 40 or 50 miles per hour winds. the national weather service issued several advisories heading into tomorrow. let's go through some of those. north bay, wind advisory goes into effect. central bay at 5:00 a.m. this could mean power impacts and the potential for flash flood watches is also there. this takes in effect on sunday because of how much rain we'll be getting in such amount of time. we'll be monitoring quick rising water streams and burn scars. there is also a high surf advisory. we are talking about dangerous rip currents. never turn your back to a wave. winter storm for the sierra potential of two or three feet of snow. don't forget your poncho if you are going to the game.

starting your weekend with us. our meteorologist vianey arana with us. >> a lot of fans are asking me what the situation is going to be with that. grab your ponchos and rain boots because it's going to be a rainy day. i am going to go through the niners forecast in a moment. you can see the storm starting to develop, this is going to start to move in late tonight. we'll get a couple of showers here and there. you can see on storm ranger pretty much further up north. possibility of a couple on and off rain showers. timeline are going to be in the 60s. we are expecting to get a break from the rain. however, if you are going to head tomorrow, pregame, we'll get a couple of showers, the rain is an evening game. kickoff is at 5:20. it's going to be windy. something to keep in mind which is why i don't think umbrella is a good idea. umbrella does not help, that's

if you are wondering of the timing, continue to look at this clock and it will give you a better idea. pushing this timeline forward to about 8:00 a.m. you can see it's up to the north bay and moving into the interior valleys. the south bay is going to remain in the rain shadows at least until the first half of the day.

moving into the south bay right around game time for the niners and heavier rain expected around 7:30. definitely towards the end of the game expect heavier rain and gusty conditions. it's going to get gusty, bring your outdoor patio furniture. look at this, 20 or 30 or 50 plus possible and some of the higher elevation areas. when it comes to the wind event, we are talking about a wind advisory, this takes in effect tomorrow initially at 2:00 a.m. really potential for tree damage and also power impacts. also watching those burn scars. there is a flash flood watch going into effect and possibly causing concerns or localized trees. never turn your back away to a wave and a winter storm watch officially in effect for two to three feet. this is going to make for dangerous road travels.
