california falling short on its water conservation goal. water usage only reduced 3.9% i august. since july, water consumption reduced just 3.6%. september was the driest in california's recorded history. we do need more rain, and meteorologist, kari hall, has been tracking that. any rain for us in the next coming weeks? >> yeah, but it's not a lot and not what we need right now. but right now we're all clear and the visibility is looking good, and our skies stay mostly clear today. we are headed for low 60s by 11:00. take a look at our high temperatures for today. reaching up to 67 in hayward and

from cnbc. we had sales tprl earnings and home depot and walmart. in focus today we will get a report on new construction, housing, and target and lowe's have earnings better than expected. meantime more than half of working americans say they are behind on retirement savings. just 21% feel they are on track for where they should be, and only 11% feel they are actually ahead of the game. bank rate said the economic impact of the pandemic was a wake-up call for many with nearly a quarter of workers

saying that they are saving for retirement more now than prior to last year. meantime, get ready to search a little harder for that perfect christmas tree this year. there will be fewer trees available for sale due to the whammy of supply chain issues and bad weather that will affect natural and artificial trees. you can prepare for a little sticker shock, maybe up to 25% more in prices due to the hike in shipping costs with the whole supply chain mess. so santa, this year, will have to dig deep for christmas trees and all sorts of things. i don't know about you but i have half of my christmas shot be done, and i ordered one present and it still has not arrived. i hope it gets here for christmas. >> i hope so too.

>> yeah. kari hall has a look at the weather. >> it's going to be a nice day. a lot of sunshine after the fog clears out. los gatos and east san josé headed up to 68 degrees. for the east bay we will see temperatures in the mid-60s with fremont reaching up to 68 degrees, but antioch cooler with the fog hanging on and a high of 65 degrees. also looking at about a high of 65. you see the temperatures are uniform from the coast to the inland areas, not a big difference here with downtown san francisco reaching 65, and also 65 in sonoma and ukiah today reaching 67 degrees. here's a look at the overall picture and the next system coming our way, and there's not a whole lot to it. as we go into the next couple of days we will see this quickly racing through, and most of the rain coming through the over night hours and starting out with spotty showers by thursday

into friday morning, and we will see the showers lingering into friday with parts of the south bay as well. the east bay, we could see the rain moving throughly and we are only looking for most of the bay area about 0.1 of an inch for the north bay, and a lot less for spots like san josé, dublin, and maybe just a little over a trace amount of rain and we know we need a lot more as we check in on our reservoirs, especially in the south bay where we are seeing them down as low as 11% capacity. we have made progress in the north bay and east bay reservoirs, but we need a lot more in storage for the next few months. with the development of la nina returning, they say there's a 90% chance this will continue interest february. since 1950, all the la nina

events have averaged 90% of normal rain, so that's not bad. at times we get aboveinfall, ant 27% of the time. we are hoping that will be this upcoming season where we get above normal rainfall, because we do need it. looking at the temperatures, low to mid-60s for the next few days and not a lot of changes temperature wise, but we will get some rain. it's right through the section here where we see a dip in the speeds. the brakes are tapping here, and we know kari's readings over here for novato is zero visibility, and further north on 101 into santa rosa there will be difficult seeing. keep that in mind.
