when wet weather is set to arrive. friday morning. thanks for joining us. i am laura garcia. >> i am marcus washington. here we go. we made it to friday. we will look at that friday commute coming up in just a minute. friday, it's that friday forecast, kari. >> yeah, we are so excited about that. it's a chilly one, and those temperatures will start out in the 30s for many spots. as we go into today, we will see a lot of sunshine. for the weekend, we will prepare for the atmospheric river with heavy rain and snow in the forecast for next week, and we are right now in the upper 30s, and santa rosa, 36 in dublin, and san josé at about 40 degrees, and it's 42 in oakland. once again, cold start. as we go into today, it only

makes it into the mid-50s for this afternoon, and then back in the 30s for many of the inland spots going into tonight. all eyes will be on the atmospheric river that will be coming in. we will be tracking that, as today we only reach into the mid-50s. we will talk more about that, and the timing of the atmospheric river coming up in a few minutes. we had a couple fender benders overnight, but no delays as of 4:32 this morning. the ride on san mateo bridge looking good, and that's not the bay bridge. 880, that's what you saw there. speed sensors are green and also i want to give you a quick check of your tri-valley drive times. westbound 580 to grant road, looking at ten minutes. i will have a closer look at that coming up in a few minutes. >> thank you. first a story you will only

sfusd wants all students to know their complaints are taken seriously. sfusd is committed to taking all appropriate steps to make sure we educate, prevent and address any incidents of sexual ahaasement that occur in our schools. and the fda approving emergency use authorization yesterday for 16 and 17-year-old, and only pfizer's booster has been approved for this group. there's no mixing and matching, but anybody under 18 should have already received the pfizer shot to begin with. santa clara health leaders started to give the shots yesterday. just like for adults, 16 and 17-year-olds should wait six months before receiving that booster. as more cases of the omicron

higher this morning. all three major averages snapped a three-day seek. google executives are acknowledging worker concerns about inflation, but they say they have no plans to help with rising prices. executives said while they are paying high labor costs and try to pay competitive compensations they have shot down the idea of company-wide pay adjustments. taco bell reportedly cancelled a test run of beyond meats.

happy friday. it's a cold start for us. we are seeing some dry conditions across the bay area. we'll have to watch the temperatures for the next couple of hours because some spots it could dip below freezing and there could be icy conditions on some of the roadways. the radar is giving us a clean sweep right now, it's all dry. we will get ready for the storm coming in at the end of the weekend, and we will watch the storm on every platform for you, every newscast, so check in for those updates. our temperatures are headed for the mid-50s today.

mid-50s in san josé, so yes, it will be cool and you want to have your jacket throughout the day to keep warm. the timeline of the storm, coming in by sunday morning, and it's a slow mover. we are expecting round after round of brief rain. another system will come in and bring additional rainfall between wednesday and thursday as more sierra snow. we will see pretty much most of next week with rain at times and also some very chilly temperatures. here's what we know about the atmospheric river. rainfall totals will be anywhere from three quarters of an inch for some of the inland valleys to four inches of rain or more with the southerly winds with about 20 to 40 miles per hour. this comes along with very cold temperatures, so we could see snow on some of our bay area peaks. flooding will be a concern for small streams as well as some of

the streets that do get the leaves clogging the storm drains. rain does continue in the forecast for wednesday into thursday. looking at how much rain we can see, what some of these computer models are showing, and, yes, the numbers are unreal, looking at the possibility of nearly nine inches of rain in the santa cruz mountains, for parts of the north bay, it could be three to five inches of rainfall. for the sierra, these numbers just continue to go up with each run of the computer models showing 99 inches of snow for king vale next week. this is just going through wednesday, there will be additional snowfall on thursday as well. this looks pretty promising that we will get the significant storm system coming in. the weekend will be the time to prepare with the dry weather we will see, and by sunday morning we will see rain moving into the north bay, and then the rain gets heavier into early next week. we will have more updates on

okay. i love this story. we put out the call for help and you responded in a big way. one area hit hard by covid and having a hard time collecting christmas stores for children in need. yesterday, oh, look at the efforts there. look at that big bag of toys. i love it. those that saw the report and local firefighters, they showed up with christmas joy. >> we see the community is in need and it hopefully brings joy to families that may not have that opportunity. >> firefighters and sjpd also helping in the effort.
