ian cole has more from santa clara county fair grounds. >> santa clara county has now 10 confirmed omicron variant cases, and they have been testing for it in the county's four sewage site. it's showing up in all four sites. >> when i look around the corner ahead, what i see is a deluge of omicron. >> so far cases continue to be mild. 80% of the entire county is now vaccinated, but only 44% have a booster. >> those who are 50 years and older, and that's the highest risk and that's the population we want to make sure have gotten their booster or are planning to get one.

drought we are in is so severe that it's not likely that maybe three or four of these events would pull us out of it. we need to have as much above average snowfall as possible. >> he said in order to make a dent in recovery from the drought, we need to have storms like this week every month this winter and for a few more seasons. >> wow. >> yeah, i remember some storms with the snow piled so high, driving through truckee you could not even see the stores. >> wow. >> yeah, we are saying it will take years to dig out of a drought like this because it took years to get into it.

the sierra snowpack, we are where we should be for normal even after all the snowfall we had, this is what we are supposed to have at this point. it's nice to see we are back at that point and we just need it to continue. in fremont, we are so cold in some of the spots in the east bay. we're in the low 40s right now. we will see it slowly rising in the low 50s today. we are getting ready for the next storm system coming in next week, but we have a dry weekend ahead. temperatures only reaching into the mid-50s. 56 in san josé. 54 in gilroy, and for the east bay we are looking at a high of 54 in danville, and san francisco reaching about 50 degrees today in the mission district and marina district. napa today, 52 degrees there. it's going to be cool.

we're going to cool down again tonight. we have been talking about this next storm system coming in, although it looks more delayed compared to previous forecasts, and we have scattered activity and tuesday is when the more measurable rain arrives when we will see another atmospheric river moving in, and it doesn't look at this point as strong as the previous ones we have had but will bring additional rainfall, possibly one to two inches of rain. for sierra snow, another foot to two feet in some of the ski resorts. once again, it's nice to see all of this but we need to continue to see the storms as we go through the rest of our winter. check out what to do for the cold temperatures. make sure you are bringing in the plants, taking care of pets and animals, and then we will
