yards and one yard but the texans who entered the game ranked last in rush yards ran for a season high 189 yards. they are just 4-11 but of course, they will play the 49ers next week and you wouldn't think this would be a tough game but, then again, they did some things tonight that we didn't expect. with what do you expect next week? >> well, i am sure they put something on film nobody really expected and that was for them to actually show up and be the playoff caliber team and that was really disappointed to see the chargers go out there, play that way in houston. because you are a playoff team trying to, obviously, get better and show your best stuff toward the end of the season. so i think for the 49ers, obviously you are going to have to slow down that run attack. the whole season due to sean watson not being on the football field but i can tell you one thing, they have nothing to play for right now. they don't care what goes on, or how they win or allow they lose, they are trying to go play
8:51 pm
football. so i think for the 49ers, it is going to be a tough game but it is going to be a home game and also it is a game that you have to win. so i think the guys there be will be fine out there on sunday. >> yeah, they will be back at levi. special delivery time brought to you by amy chi's east coast pizzeria. . they have two games left. first, houston texans at home and then at the los angeles rams. they have to win both these games, and then maybe get some help. they could lose a game, and still win and get into the playoffs. but basically, ian, they need to win these last two games. >> yeah, and they obviously need to win these last two games and i think one of the games coming up tomorrow, on monday night with the saints and the dolphins, you have a young quarterback starting at quarterback for the new orleans saints. they put a lot of wins behind their season this past two weeks, i think they can come out there and possibly do some things for the 49ers and beat the saints. >> yeah, they will be rooting for the dolphins there is no
8:52 pm
question about it. and listen, as you pointed out, playing monday night football, a quarterback who is not that experienced, that is not an easy task. >> definitely not. i mean, you got a young quarterback out there. obviously, is going to be a hostile environment because they are trying to go to the play offs for a first time in a long time. so there are no slouch that the dolphins that we have known the past few years so it is going to be a difficult, difficult game for both teams. >> ian, if you watch the sunday night game tonight here on nbc, it was destruction. dallas destroyed washington. it was not even close. and things got even worse on the washington bench which they brought to dallas. so that's washington's bench. they bring from fedex field and then, two players -- defensive linemen who were teammates in college get in a fight. darren pane and jonathan alan, it resulted in a swing at one. you don't push a man and poke him in his face. and that is going to lead to a punch. luckily, alan's punch didn't
8:53 pm
connect. but these are two teammates. dallas won 56-14. have you ever been part of a team -- i know in practice and football players are wound up but in a game, two teams -- two players turning on each other like that, ian, that was -- ien had not seen that before like that and certainly not on national television where everyone could watch it. >> yeah, obviously you don't like to see that but those type of things happen. you know, these are football players it is heat of moment. so i am sure something like that happened on the field, something they probably talked about in practice or actual film study that both of them went out there and somebody did something wrong. obviously, putting a finger in someone's face is going to cause somebody to react differently. when you are in a heated moment, on that football field, a lot of things are going at a million miles per hour. so little things like that can spur out and for us to see as fans go oh what's going on? but if you look at the scoreboard, that was what was going on. there was a butt whooping out there and they were upset about
8:54 pm
it. >> right. if they were winning, whatever was said was not going to lead to a fight. when you are losing like that, causes a lot ever problems. we will take a break. when we come back, we will check in with ian's new year resolutions. what do the 49ers have to do better and what does jimmy have to do better? all that coming up but first a preview of the news, which comes up right after us. i am audrey asistio in the nbc bay area studios. we are in a microclimate weather alert and tracking the conditions from the bay area to the sierra. >> in the morning, i saw, you know, things getting worse and worse. one south bay family never made it to tahoe. instead, they, along with many others, rode out the storm on the highway. how their all night ordeal came toen aend. squer about to see more rain high impact on your monday morning commute and even colder air sweeping down the coast that is going to be dropping temperatures and snow levels around the bay area. close looks on the news, following xfinity sports sunday.

watch. we are picking up still some snow showers about 3,500 feet at times and a few isolated you showers here in the north bay. the next round is starting to work its way down the coast. you see the cloud band there and much colder air behind it. that is going to drop snow levels around the bay area. it's brought snow to seattle and portland today if you say the seahawks versus bears game today, you got a little bit of that. snow in seattle. that is going to be dropping our way over the next 24 hours. rain toll toelts here not as big as we have seen from previous storms but may still see a half inch of rain obviously for the santa cruz mount bs, east bay hills, parts of the north bay and then colder temperatures start to arrive as we get into tuesday. so rain picking up in coverage and intensity through about 7:00 a.m. tomorrow. then, our skies clear heading into monday night which will set the stage for some very chilly temperatures by 11:00 tomorrow night. mid-30s before midnight and then low 30s tuesday morning. as that next batch of cold air comes in, this is where things get interesting. snow showers possible for the interior north bay and the
9:27 pm
inland east bay. that is going to be tuesday morning. so stay tuned on that. snow levels briefly lower than 2,000 feet. likely, candidates for more snow, mount hamilton, mount diablo, maybe mount tam, and the santa cruz mountains, taller peaks there could be looking at more snow showers at times. for wednesday, one more round of rain passes through for wednesday morning's commute. then, after that, we talk about new year's eve plans. things do like drier second half the week, you can see the storm trek moves off to think north. our next chance of rain will probably hold off until sunday night, january 2nd or 3rd but, you know, our seven-day forecast, you are going to think we have all taken a car up to lake tahoe by tuesday. look at those temperatures. we are talking highs in the north bay, i think, around northern sonoma county that could be in the upper 30s on tuesday. so by bay area standards, very cold with those low snow levels through wednesday but the second half of the week approaching new year's eve and new year's day, trend drieger. so we get to catch our breath.
