milestone in the battle against covid-19 according to an nbc news tally, more than 60 million infections have been reported since the start of the pandemic. that is a million more since friday chicago leaders have called off public school classes for a fourth day negotiations dragged on with a teachers' union late into the night after the city rejected the union's vote to go back to remote learning. many hospitals are strained by staffing issues, but are they also overwhelmed by severe covid cases? there are growing calls to re-evaluate how covid hospitalizations are classified, with many doctors saying the numbers don't give a clear picture. gadi schwartz explained. >> reporter: as more hospitals report spiking cases of covid-19, confusion is mounting over what should count as a covid hospitalization. right now anyone at the hospital who ends up testing positive for covid there is counted by the cdc. in city's like new york, recent numbers show just over half of
