3:00. >> a community walk and vigil held in oakley today for alexis gabe, who has been missing more than a week. her ex-boyfriend believed to be the last person to see her. christie smith joins us live from oakley with more. >> reporter: well, today one of her friends said it's hard to believe that she is missing. calling this just a heartbreaking situation. they walked here, but gathered about a mile away from here in the area where alexis gabe's car was found. her brother says the car was unlocked with keys inside, found on the 27th. friends and family and supporters wore shirts with her picture on them. flyers were taped to cars. the 27-year-old's disappearance has shaken up the community. today friends and family shared stories about her kindness and sense of humor. we spoke with her brother and his girlfriend, who said they appreciate all the community support they have received and wanted to offer thanks for that.

they have been spreading the word with flyers. there are billboards up, too. when she didn't come home she was reported missing and they have been looking ever since and say she would always stay in touch. >> before she leaves anywhere she tells at least one person where she is going. either it would be me, sometimes my parents, or most likely her best friends. and they are the ones that really thought it was really, really strange for her not to say anything because they know -- they usually know where she is all the time >> this is like day 11 and every day gets harder and harder. so just continuing to keep up with the awareness and spreading the word and posting flyers and getting her face out there is the biggest help. >> reporter: meantime, police have searched an anitoch home and taken evidence. that hope believed to be that of an ex-boyfriend who is also believed to have been the last person to see her. family and friend say they will continue to get the word out to

make sure they bring alexis home. in oakley, christie smith, nbc bay area news. >> thanks very much. pandemic news for you right now. in the east bay, in berkeley, starting tomorrow city health leaders will require certain workers to stay up to date with boosters. employees of restaurants, theaters and gyms will to show proof of vaccination and anyone 5 and older will have also require proof of full vaccination before they can enter a business. today in the bay marcus washington spoke to the city's mayor about the new policy. >> and we think particularly the businesses where there is a lot of interaction between the public such as restaurants, bars, theaters, entertainment venues, gyms, large events that those employees should get boosted in order to protect themselves and to protect our residents. you know, we are doing this out of concern. >> you can watch the interview with the mayor tomorrow morning

on "today in the bay" from 4:30 to 7:00. starting this week sonoma county is lifting restrictions on indoor and outdoor gatherings as cases and hospitalizations continue to decline. the restriction limited the gatherings. sonoma county was the only bay area county to restrict the size of gatherings during the omicron surge. the restriction will be lifted thursday. let's go to a live look out at san francisco. i don't think it gets much clearer than that. a gorgeous day and the calendar says not feeling that way right now so much and it's about to really not feel that way at all. rob has a look at that. >> we are already seeing a few areas climbing into the 70s right now. calistoga up to 72 degrees. 70 fremont and 70s from scotts valley into santa cruz and more of that on the way tomorrow. we'll expect santa rosa and san jose in the 70s. not records tomorrow, but look what happens by thursday.

we could see highs close to 80 degrees in santa rosa and upper 70s and san jose if we get there, those are new record highs coming up later this week. so this big ridge of high pressure which is a bit more like summer parked offshore giving us this dry weather, which has hit 30 days without measurable rain. looks like that holds up through the middle of the part. coming up, we will look how warm the temperatures will get in the seven-day forecast and if there are any signs of rain showing up a little bit later on this month coming up in the forecast in eight minutes. back to you. another silver medal and women's hockey dominates in their quest for gold. two of the many highlight for team usa in beijing. a live look now at the competition continuing to heat up and team usa has been earning some hardware. >> liz mclaughlin joins us from beijing where windy weather also playing a role at the mountain venues. liz, what's the latest out there? >> reporter: audrey and terry, good evening to you. a lot of excitement here.

is a gold medal favorite in the men's downhill and now those are both scheduled for the same day five miles per hour of winds there right now. but this area is prone to winter storms this time of year and it's raising questions about danger and fairness if a gust of wind comes through, say, when mikaela shiffrin is doing her run and it knocks her off course. you know, is that fair if someone else gets a calm run? we will just have to see how this plays out. terry, audrey. >> adding more to the olympics as if we needed any more. liz, thank you very much. all right. so another local athlete we are tracking in beijing is rachel giannis. competing on the hockey team. her team got a big win, this time over japan. giannis rode to the winter olympics started at age 10 playing hockey outside her san she scored a winning goal in one

u.s. officials say russia need to launch a full-scale invasion. national security advisor jake sullivan said an invasion could happen at any time. >> we believe that the russians have put in place the capabilities to mount a significant military operation into ukraine and we have been working hard to prepare a response. president biden has rallied our al lights. he is reinforced and reassured our partners on the eastern flank. he provided material support to the ukrainians and he has offered the russians a diplomatic path. either way, we are ready. >> when pressed by reporters today, the president said he would not speculate on the possibility of sending more troops to poland. if putin does not de-escalate, u.s. officials close to the matter say an invasion could create up to 5 million refugees.

dive teams continue to search for a person who fell through a frozen reservoir near lake tahoe. this happened at the stampede reservoir just north of truckee. the sierra county sheriff's office says eight people were ice skating when the ice broke. six fell in. five were able to get out. teams continue to search for that missing person who has not been identified. they said they are exempt from a new statehouses law. one of the wealthiest towns in the bay is giving his own take on the problem. his stern warningd ll he make i? he may one athlete's last-second scramble to compete. right now seeing sunshine, 67 degrees in san jose and that might be one of the collar temperatures we see in the week ahead. we will talk about some record-breaking warm temperatures headed our way when we come back. ahead for us, our live

an update today to a story we brought you last week. the state's attorney general is firing back at the town of woodside over housing laws. they declared itself a mountain lion sanctuary, but the attorney general says the community cannot claim sanctuary status to stop new homes from being build. he allegeed this was all an effort by woodside to sidestep sb 9, that's a new law. letting homeowners build up four units on a single property. he said in part, quote, do your idly by. celebrating the lunar

eclipse in san ramon. people gathered today to ushner the year of the tiger. the event featured are traditional drums, live music and the dragon there lion dances that always greet the new year. it's an effort to show the cultural celebration with the community. >> we are here to show the culture of the asian, like dance and music and the kung fu and let more people see the asian culture here. >> and this is just one of several celebrations across the bay area. the san francisco chinese new year parade is coming up on february 19th. a call for more mountain bike trails in the east bay. dozens of mountain bikers and supporters demand the park service make changes. they say the park service has ignored calls for more bike trails for decade. the leaders of the movement say they are not asking for all that much. they want existing animal trails and narrow trails that mountain bikers have done themselves to be designated official trails. >> the people are desperate.

right now 66 in walnut creel. upper 60s in san jose. from here temperatures climb mi. for the morning patches of low clouds inland and near the coast. during the day just like we are seeing now mostly sunny skies, dry air, and those clear skies mean once again the mornings start off very chilly. 30s and low 40s to start the morning, especially around the north bay valleys. midmorning, 50s and 50s, zres in layers. by lunchtime you have numbers in the mid-60s around san jose and numbers in the upper 60s and low 70s. really too much of a good thing. i know we love spring weather, but we need rain this time of year. nothing like that coming up the next seven days. are from here temperatures are about to climb. high pressure not giving up any ground. storm sitting off to the north. one chance for some showers, think maybe for the sierra. could be early next week. but notice how this storm tracks inland and then dives east of the sierra, possibly setting us

up for windy conditions. what's happening here is high pressure is still keeping those storms off to the north and you can see it on the upper air pattern, one high weakens, this is too close to the coast to allow that system to drop down more towards the bay area. so if these inland tracking lows, we have to watch for wind at times. i think in another week, next weekend, it's about valentine's day, it will be dry and breezy, but we will keep our fingers crossed. maybe here is the ten-day temperature trend for napa. that's all 70s from tomorrow all the way through next weekend. livermore seeing temperatures climbing into the mid-70s. thursday all the way through next weekend, things are staying warm and it's not just places like the tri-valley. look at the seven-day forecast. this is san francisco and we could see temperatures in the mid-70s by thursday and friday. if that is true, by thursday and friday you are going to start to see record highs falling around the bay area. warmer temperatures for our valleys and inland locations.
