and my boyfriend has been so amazing, too, and very supportive. but just think having these open discussions helps me quite a bit, especially in these open games. i wanted to be in the best place mentally i could be. so i started going to therapy to talk about how i feel and, yeah, i think it is important to keep people close to you in times of crisis. >> you mentioned the fella there. i heard he took a semester off to be supportive as well. let's talk about reese for a moment. he has quite the social media following. i think we have some adorable pictures as well for folks may not be familiar. so you have two gold medals now, chloe kim. do you keep one and reese gets the other? >> i think so. we might have to do another photo shoot with the new medal or both around his neck. this is the best.

raj is at super bowl lvi, we will kick it off with you tonight, raj, a lot to talk about tonight. >> reporter: certainly, there's a lot to celebrate here in l.a. and really across the country as america comes together for the big event on the super bowl which is on sunday. but also, to the bay area, there's another story in hand and that is danny oluna, the 49ers fan that is remaining here in the l.a. area in critical condition, i connected with his wife tonight. she had powerful things that she ment. we will start with an update, he is that 49ers fan that two weeks ago, came down tore the nfc championship. got in an altercation at so the fi stadium and ended up in the medically induced coma. luna is the owner and chef of the restaurant on piedmonte

avenue, a popular place. he remains in critical condition. he had surgery friday, where they have to remove part of his skull in order to relieve the pressure on his brain. so a lot happening with him. as for what happened that day at sofi stadium? we don't know. the investigation continues. we do know he got in a fight with the rams fan. he pushed the rams fan. the rams fan pushed back and punched luna and luna fell to the pavement at sofi stadium and ended up in the coma and in the hospital. we did reach out to his wife tonight who returned to us and connected with us and gave us this statement. pretty powerful, this is from his wife. many doctors and nurses at keiser hospital in oakland who are regular customers of the mistura restaurant have reached out to let us know they are praying and hoping for danny's recovery. many other customers and nearby restaurant businesses have also reached out to us to send

prayers and best wishes. we can't thank the public enough for their support after his being attacked at sofi stadium. again, we wish the luna family the best in his recovery. speaking of sofi stadium, earlier today, i spent part of the afternoon with the mayor of inglewood, that is where the stadium is located. this is mayor butts. he has a long time background in law enforcement. he is one of the few people that saw the video from the parking lot and saw that altercation between luna and the rams fan. here is what he had to say. >> i watched the relevant part of the clip before the pushing and shoving and i'm sure there's more tape to be seen. it looked like a group of 49er fans that were tailgating. the game had started so i assume they didn't have tickets. and then that's when they, the problem started. i don't know if drinking was a

factor here for either of the gentlemen. but i, people get involved in altercations, it was between 5-10 seconds max. >> 5-10 seconds just like that and that changed the life of danny luna, his wife and family. and that changed the life of the rams fan. who was arrested. but the investigation continues. in terms of security moving forward the super bowl as it has always been, one of the most heavily fortified and secured event in history. right now no credible threats. and that's the good news. however, search standing by. there's ten federal agencies working the event on the air, ground, via drone and dog. everything possible. even fighter jets are standing by at the ready should something go awry this weekend and that

people in the east bay may have felt a jolt, a 3.3 earthquake hit east of san leandro. a similar size quake hit the same area sunday. no reports of injuries or damage. >> developing overseas the u.s. officials are giving the most dire warning yet that russia could invade ukraine before the end of the olympics. right now the state department is making plans for staff there. nbc bay area is joining us live in the newsroom with the new details. what is the latest? >> the u.s. is evacuating the embassy in the capital city o keyv, and president biden will talk to putin tomorrow morning. it will be the first time they have talked this year. you can see the president there holding a call with eight european leaders and he met in the situation room with his national security team t white house has warned americans in

and san jose, hazy skies we begin with high clouds. clearing skies, heading to the afternoon and watch how quickly the temperatures climb starting off the morning in the 40s to low 50s. by lunchtime like we have seen, we will see 70s around san jose in the south bay and high temperatures tomorrow from san francisco to oakland in the low to mid 70s, close to 80. you can see the numbers in the mid to upper 70s. super bowl sunday will be a little bit cooler. but we are still talking mid 70ss. and that is perfect for your super bowl parties in the bay area. 60s from san francisco to oakland and numbers still in the 70s in the east bay and north bay. the clouds thicken up and we finally have showers passing by northern california. good enough for the first time in five weeks that the sierra should get snow showers, monday night and tuesday. and with the inland track with

the storm system, unfortunately it does not look like it's going to bring rain chances to the bay area. it will bring a big drop in temperatures and a big increase in the wind. the temperatures will start to cool down. wind speeds will gust from 25-40 miles an hour, probably through the middle part of the week. so, we will have to watch the gusty winds and look at the temperature drop. these are highs on monday. upper 50s to low 60s. we have the warmest weather for the weekend. good for your super bowl viewing around the bay area. the temperature business monday and tuesday will be 20 degrees cooler than the high temperatures we see tomorrow. kind of a mixed bag there. we have the wind and dry conditions closer to the bay area. that is not too good, the sierra should get a bit of snow next week with the temperatures cooling monday to tuesday. ba account to you. >> thank you very much. >> well, if it's too good to be true, don't fall for it. the warning from the fbi, as valentine's day approaches. >> and happening now, commuters

now have another option to ditch the grid lock on highway 101, the new express lane is open today. they stretch between mountain view and wipple avenue, solo drives can use the lane for a toll. tolls will be in place from 5:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. on wednesday. you do need to fasttrack to use the lanes. returning to campus, the measures taken to keep students safe. >> and the supply chain crisis causing havoc at the hotels, how it can impact your next stay.

and after gaining their trust, asked them to send money for an investment. then, they disappear. most of the time the bad actors ask for cryptocurrency because its untraceable. they lost $64 million. that is double the year before. >> some are domestic. but some of the perpetrators, most of them are overseas, that is what is concerning. once the money is overseas it makes it that much harder for us to track it down or bring it back. >> agents say the most targeted group with people over 60, if you think it's happening to you, contact the fbi right away. >> elon musk said the first orbital flight of the space-x starship come in another month or two. he is just waiting on final approval from the faa, and at nearly 400 feet the starship is the world's tallest and most powerful rocket.
