good morning. it's 8:26. i'm marcus washington. a haywood mother charged in the central valley is set to appear in court. samantha johnson is expected to be arraigned today. earlier this month, her daughter, sophia, was found dead in the home of her mother's boyfriend. johnson is now being held without bail. police are offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of johnson's boyfriend, dante jackson. police aren't saying what kind of role he played in the death but at one point they did warn he might be somewhere here in the bay area.

deadly. one was on 4th street. the other was by an officer at a crowded restaurant. it happened on east san carlos. both crime scenes are close to san jose state. in the case of the restaurant shooting, police got a call about two men fighting and one was armed with a gun. the officer's gunfire sent patrons running from the restaurant. there is still a lot of unanswered questions including what led up to the homicide. we're hoping to get more answers later this morning. we'll have an update midday. coronavirustown asking for more help from police after a surge in crime including about a dozen weekend store robberies. link to more details on our home page. everyone is talking about it, will smith slapping chris rock during last night's oscar ceremony. it overshadows a first for silicon valley with "coda's" best picture win.
