20 miles per hour, but it may be higher this afternoon and this evening. a breezy and cool day with our temperatures only headed for the upper 60s and low 70s. we'll be reaching 71 in san martin. fairfield 72, and fremont in the mid-60s today. we'll talk fw end of the week warm-up in a few minutes. how is it looking for the commute? >> overall, things are looking green. we have not even the tiniest bit of slowing out of the altamont pass. we have one incident in the east bay. this is southbound 880 at winton. no slowing over the last ten minutes, but we see slowing approaching 92. light traffic all around the bay. here is 880 heading toward the area.

headlights heading north. we have wind advisories for the san mateo bridge, golden gate bridge and venetian bridge as well. >> sacramento's downtown area is still a crime scene after the mass shooting that happened this weekend just blocks from the state capitol. the violence has left families struggling for answers. president biden issued a statement reading in part, quote, america is once again mourning another community devastated by gun violence. in a single act six individuals left dead and at least a dozen more injured. he called on congress to pass tougher gun control laws. we have more on the response city leaders are promising. >> reporter: police were patrolling in the area around 2:00 a.m. when they heard the sounds of gunfire. investigators believe a large fight took place before the shooting. in this video, you can hear the rapid gunfire that sent people running. it's not clear if this fight is connected to the shooting, but

one man riding his bike won't forget the sound. >> we were probably about three blocks away. we heard it, bam, bam, bam, we're like, that sounded crazy. within seconds we saw cops just racing down the street. >> reporter: it's an area with restaurants and night life. police say in the shooting, three women and three men were killed, 12 others injured. some family members rushed to the scene as soon as they heard. >> i'm a concerned parent, like other people are concerned parents out here about their children, and i just want to know what's going on. >> reporter: pamela harris was looking for information about her son. she spoke with the media in this interview before she had answers and described his personality. >> fun to be around, life of the party, smiling all the time, you know, don't bother people. and for this to happen, it's crazy. it's crazy. i'm just to the point right now, i don't know what to do. >> reporter: a family member later confirmed with our sister

station in sacramento that sergio harris, who was a father, was killed. city leaders have spoken out, including a council member who became emotional. >> our community deserves better than this. i know this is a national epidemic, this is not unique to sacramento, but we can stop it here. we can stop it here. >> reporter: police say they recovered a stolen handgun and that there were multiple shooters. we are continuing our coverage on air and online. we're posting uat we learn more about the investigation. you can head to nbcbayarea.com. back here in the bay area, police now say two of the four men shot on the san francisco playground have died. that shooting happened yesterday a little before 5:00 p.m. this is on brunswick avenue. the other two victims did not suffer life-threatening injuries. police so far have not made arrests. in ukraine, the violence and

damage not letting up. seven more people, including three children, were killed in a shelling attack in kharkiv. i want to show you drone video taken over the weekend. just some of the devastation in the ukrainian city of mariupol. humanitarian corridor in the city is expected to open today. this is for those who want to escape the violence. ukraine's prosecutor general says the bodies of 410 civilians have been removed from the area around kyiv. now, several towns around ukraine's capital city were recently taken from russian forces. poland, meanwhile, calling the city -- calling for the creation of a commission to investigate genocide by russia amid the invasion. a claim that's also being echoed by ukraine. the mayor of antioch is scheduled to make an announcement surrounding police department staffing in the wake of an ongoing investigation. the fbi and contra costa county district attorney's office are

as you're heading to work on this monday morning, let's take a look at pleasant hill, and our temperatures in the low 50s. it's going to be a windy day. at times the sun peeking out, and it will be cool wr temperatures reaching into the mid-60s. we'll talk about the warm-up in a few minutes. >> dublin, 580, moving smoothly right now. getting down here, we do have an issue on vasco road. we'll sort that out coming up. good morning. i'm bertha coombs from cnbc. wall street looks like we're going to open just flat, a

little bit to the upside, after the s&p 500 just barely eeked out a gain for the week last week, making it three straight weeks of gains. stocks rising on friday, despite the fact the march jobs report came in just shy of economists forecasts. but the previous report was revised upward quite a bit. meantime, investors are watching the bond market, particularly u.s. treasuries. there is a sign that a lot of people look to that is a potential recession signal and it's the way the yields stick up, the interest rates stick up between the two and ten year. normally the two is lower the ten the higher. last week we saw the yield on the two year treasury move higher than the ten year. when that happens for a sustained amount of time, that is something that people see as a recessionary indicator. it hasn't happened since 2019. it doesn't mean it's going to happen necessarily, but

historically when it happens you sometimes see a recession within about 12 months or so. something to watch. we're also watching for economic data. we're getting reports on factory orders this week, jobless claims, consumer credit. plus the minutes from last month's federal reserve meeting when the fed hiked interest rates for the first time since 2018. meantime, tesla very much in the news this morning delivering a record number of vehicles in the first quarter, 310,000, but that was a little short of wall street estimates. the company struggled with global supply chain issues and a brief covid shutdown at its factory in shanghai, which was supposed to reopen monday, but it still remains closed. ceo elon musk tweeting that tesla is rapidly expanding production to meet demand. the grand opening of its new factory in austin, texas, is scheduled for this thursday. and a new york indicator, well,

breaking records for the first time. a slice of pizza now costs more than subway fare here in new york city for the first time. bloomberg reports the average cost of a slice of pizza is $3.14, compared to $2.75 for subway fare, which breaks the general rule that the price of slice and a subway fare stay about the same and rise together. the essentials for new yorkers have risen in lockstep since the 1950s. i wanted to touch on one thing that is really moving this morning. tesla shares up 25% because elon musk has revealed he has a 9% stake in the company. now, he called it a passive stake, but if you go back and look over the last couple of weeks, he's talked a lot about governance at twitter. and you would think elon musk with 80 million followers could easily pick up the phone and talk to jack dorsey, but money talks more than tweets, i think.

mostly cloudy, temperatures in the low 50s. you can see as we go throughout the day it's going to warm up, become nice and comfortable. the wind will continue with peeks of sunshine. our hour-by-hour wind forecast shows at noon we have winds in san francisco at about 20, 25 miles per hour, much lighter for some of our valleys. but that just stays gusty, even going into the evening and then starts to relax later on tonight. the seven-day forecast is coming up at the bottom of the screen as we go hour-by-hour and show you how the day will shape up for you. our temperatures are actually right on target for what's normal for early april, reaching 65 in oakland, 67 in martinez, in livermore about 68 degrees, and also 68 degrees in san jose. and for santa rosa we'll also see some upper 60s, but head down to the upper 40s for tonight. our overall weather pattern staying dry, as high pressure builds it's going to keep it very warm through the end of the

week. we'll see a quick ramp-up in temperatures and then back down for the weekend. notice that it does stay dry as the storm track heads up and over the bay area. but our temperatures are going to be all over the place. check out brentwood today. 70s. also 70s tomorrow. then it spikes into the 90s for thursday and friday. it's time to clean out the pool, get the air-conditioning tuned up. and then we'll all not need it for a few days going into early next week. these temperatures are crazy, i know. so we go from the 90s to 60s for highs. take a look at our inland seven-day forecast. we have nice, mild, breezy weather today and then summer pays a visit by the end of the week and then we're back to our still warm, but nicer weather for the weekend. for san francisco we're also expecting a big spike in temperatures. how long has it been since we've had 85 degrees in early april? we know it's not supposed to be

that hot. at least it does cool off and turn windy for the weekend. mike, you have a couple of crashes in the east bay? >> nothing as dramatic as that 30 degree difference. we do still have a crash in hayward, southbound, 880, the winton off ramp. if that is your off ramp, south 880 at winton, there is an overturned vehicle there. no major injuries reported. an important area here, toward brentwood and discovery bay, your commute will start to build heading south toward 580. up here in the north bay we talked about the real mccoy ferry. it went out of service in february. it's scheduled to come back at the end of march. it's the beginning of april and they said it would be the end of april before that particular ferry can come back into service. so real mccoy ferry still not an

option. we're looking at the rest of your bridges. they are moving smoothly. a little blip at richmond-san rafael. i'll check on that. >> thank you. this morning a daly city family is left on edge after their grandfather was attacked in his front yard. solomon her an dez finished mowing his grass and someone came up behind him, kicked him, injuring him. the family along with the supervisor has announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest in this case. his son believes this violent act was intentional. >> now, if you've seen the video, this kick is meant to hurt him, to hurt him permanently. but thank god the good lord was with him. the garbage can saved him from really hurting his head. i'm pleading with everybody, please look at your cameras so you can stop this hatred.

>> this is the second time hernandez has been attacked outside of his home. a new opening date is being set for the long awaited tunnel tops park in san francisco. it will connect the presidio to the bay. there's another park opening next month and that has a lot of history. we'll show you how the public will get a chance to mingle with the military past for the first time in more than a century. >> reporter: there was a time when the bay area was known to flex its military might. along the edge of the presidio, massive gun batteries gave warning to anyone who might think of invading by sea. >> this is an area that houses four coast artillery batteries that were destructed between 1898 and 1902. >> reporter: the guns were gone by the 1920s. the old concrete batteries
