extreme april heat. a live look outside this morning where things are kind of cool right now, but it won't last. meteorologist kari hall is going to break down the record-breaking temperatures as there is a microclimate alert. the fire danger throughout the bay area as result of the heat wave and the water agency that could be asking hundreds of thousands of customers to conserve more. and the history on the hill. and the history-making vote that is to take place to change our court forever. this is "today in the bay." it is also thursday morning. thank you for joining us. i'm laura garcia, and marcus washington has the day off. you can also watch us on roku, apple tv and fire tv.

we have live team coverage, and bob riddell is covering the impact of the severe drought, and water as well. we want to start with kari hall, and what can you see for us? >> it is hot out here there with the record alert, and seeing it coming down a number of the record highs today, and what we are forecasting for santa rosa, but the record is 84, so most likely we will go beyond that, and second run, we are expecting a high of 92 today. in san francisco, it is not expected to reach a record, but oakland definitely soared beyond what we would see this time of year, and matching that record in san jose. we will continue for the hot

and now we are looking at the core interchange from north 85 to north 97. this interchange is affected by a fire on the side of the road, and probably an overnight cooking fire, and those happen near the interchange. so far, there is going to be some lighting fence though. the morning commute, we are seeing that it is slowing from rose quinnment and so we are seeing towards contra costa county, easy flow of traffic, and san marcos on ramp is not affecting the on ramp. all clear. okay. spring is here, and the boys of summer are ready to play ball. coming up next on today, the opening day arrives today.
