good morning. this wasn't just a train station, but gathering point for civilians fleeing west. the government is warning civilians that the window to leave donbas is crossing. and at kramatorsk, that train station is closed and that means fewer windows to get out. volodymyr zelenskyy says this is an evil without limits. at least 52 people, including 5 children, died in the attack on the train is station in kramatorsk. there were thousands of civilians waiting and the russians knew it. the calculated target is one of the exit points from eastern ukraine. a gateway to safety. there are children lying there, this woman says. a few feet away, the remains of the rocket. u.s. officials say they believe it was a short range ballistic missile fired by russia. >> it is a piece of the russian

good morning. thank you for joining us on this saturday, april 9th. i'm kira clap everyone. the search is under way for a hit-and-run driver who killed two people in a crosswalk in san jose. we have learned from neighbors the victims are a woman and her daughter, hilt by this man driving this truck. these are surveillance images of the truck. it happened thursday just before 6:30 in front of ocala middle school. crossing guards were vigilant at the site yesterday because it is the same crosswalk used by students at the middle school.

26 people already have been killed in traffic accidents so far in san jose this year. that's more than double the same time last year. stand forward nurses are going on strike. the union made that decision in a landslide vote yesterday. more than 4,500 nurses voted to strike, a record turnout. this comes on the heels of months of stalled contract talks. nurses are asking for higher wages, mental health support and changes to the current time-off policy. in a statement, stanford health care says it will prepare for the possibility of a strike, but it hopes the nurses' union instead chooses to work with them on coming to an april agreement. the last walkout at stanford health care was in 2000 when nurses went on strike for 50 days. we are under a microclimate weather alert, but look at this beautiful shot of san francisco. so the temperatures today are not going to be the big factor.

saw changes to the tax code because of the pandemic. pay closeattention. some of the changes they made two years ago are different. child tax credit. you may know someone who had a baby in the last year. if you did, you want to note that on your taxes so you get a credit for it. we had the expanded child tax credit as well. for the second half of the year, you would have been getting monthly payments. if that was the case, the refund you are going to get now expect it will be a bit smaller. if you got unemployment insurance over the last year, you will have to pay taxes on that. in 2020, you did not have to. that is a change to be prepared for. that is something to pay special attention to. if you do the standard deduction, you can deduct $600 for a couple for charity. >> steph, what are the mistakes

to be aware of if you are filing? >> remember everything you got from the government last year and you think, great. you know how much i get in the mail? the most important that many are for getting are the stimulus checks. if you got one in march last year, note it on the taxes. you don't have to pay additional tax, but should be marked. if you should have gotten one, but never came, file for a credit. another mistake? typos. go through the taxes again. names are spelled correctly and social security number right. i don't want a typo and it gets caught by the government. that can hold you up weeks or months. that matters if you are expecting a refund. go to irs.gov. there is a good chance you are eligible for free file. use the free resources in they are available. >> steph, for sure. anything else to keep in mind?

an east bay teacher is under arrest on suspicion of child molestation. she is a biology teacher at a charter school in richmond. she is facing 29 charges of child molestation. gower is the second teacher from this school to be arrested for this incident. in 2017 ronald guinto was convict have had of abusing 12 students. he was dubbed one of the worst child molesters in california history. the making waves charter schools released a statement saying gower has been fired. quote, there is nothing more important than the health, safety and well-being of our students. the school says it has reached out to parents to provide support where it might be needed. stanford students -- nurses rather turned out in record numbers to vote to go on strike. in a landslide, more than 4,500 nurses in the union voted to strike. this comes after months of stalled contract negotiations. nurses are asking for higher
