>> reporter: vinita, u.s. officials telling nbc news that a new defense package worth some $750 million will be delivered to the ukrainians perhaps as early as this week it'll include some capabilities we've seen before, anti-tank missiles, ammunition but we're also expecting it to include some new capabilities including helicopters and what the pentagon calls unmanned surface vehicles, now you and i would call those drone ships those are going to be really important as this war shifts to the east and to the south and ukrainians trying to defend their southern coast from further incursion by russian naval forces the pentagon is also meeting with eight of americas largest defense manufacturers today. one of the topics for discussion is going to be what sort of weapons does the u.s. need to be making to keep the ukrainians going if this war drags on for months, for years. that's not a huge amount of help
