of intense gun violence in pittsburgh, and a series of attacks in south carolina over the weekend. a live report straight ahead. >> we begin with the latest out of ukraine. the western city of lviv, largely untouched so far was hit hard overnight. russian forces continuing their assault on the eastern city of mariupol as well. matt bradley live in ukraine with the latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. >> savannah. we're still getting new details about that deadly air strike against a train complex in the western city of lviv. and the casualty numbers we're getting, there are worries they could still climb as the day goes on. this morning four missiles hit the western ukrainian city of lviv. a city that so far has been largely spared if the fighting. >> that wasn't a plane, it was a cruise missile. >> reporter: the tacks killed at least six and injured many more according to the city mayor. thick smoke rising near an apartment block. and today in the east of ukraine, mariupol's defenders remain defeat. thousands of ukrainian soldiers

still holding out in a steel factory. russia's military claims it controls most of the city center, which couldn't be confirmed. but if the city does finally fall, ukraine's president warned of major consequences. the destruction of our guys in mariupol can put an end to any format of negotiations, he said. russia's nearly two month siege has trapped hundreds of thousands of civilians with thousands of civilians with little food, clean water, electricity or medical care. many have managed to flee but the russians repeatedly attacked humanitarian corridors making escape almost as risky as remaining. >> and i think she will never give up so i'm not giving up. >> reporter: some over the easter weekend citizens are reclaiming normal life >> several weeks ago it was like

just teenagers. so this morning they are searching for the suspects. it is just the latest incident in what turned out to be a violent holiday weekend. this cell phone video shows the frantic moments when gunshots shattered the peace of the holy holiday weekend. it happened at a packed house party in pittsburgh. officials say nearly 200, mostly underaged, young people were crammed inside of an airbnb rental. the celebration turned to chaos when more than 100 shots rang out, injuring eight people and living two teenagers dead. >> we really got to figure out where these guns are coming from. especially for the youth. >> reporter: it is the latest in a violent weekend on the east coast. three mass shootings when just 24 hours. >> i've got five cases waited to be transplanted. >> reporter: in south carolina. opened fire. he's been released on $25,000 bond and placed under house arrest.

and hours later, another shooting in south carolina. this one at a lounge 80 miles west of charleston, leaving nine injured. all of it comes less than a week after a terrifying morning on a new york subway, when a gunman threw smoke canisters and then opened fire on a train in brooklyn hitting ten people. the suspect in that case has been arrested. and back to that shooting incident in pittsburgh. we understand that police are still searching for the suspects this morning and they are asking for the public's help. meanwhile airbnb says the renter for the party has been banned from the platform for life for violating the company's very strict policy on parties. craig. blayne alexander this

athletes from all over the world expected to participate, city officials are now taking precautions to reduce the risk of infection. all runners and volunteers must be vaccinated. and race organizers are asking spectators to refrain from a popular attrition of years past, asking runners for a kiss around the halfway mark. as covid is rapidly spreading nationwide, concern is growing. >> cases are ticking up and we're going to want to watch this carefully. >> reporter: today in philadelphia, a citywide indoor mask mandate back into effect. officials point to a recent case spike. but not everyone is on board. >> someone needs to do something about this. >> reporter: the city now facing a new legal battle as a group of businesses and residents try to overturn the order arguing it imposes a renegade standard and ignoring cdc guidance. >> there is no such mandate in any other big city in america. >> reporter: in new york city,

so the biden administration is making another move it hopes will lower prices at the pump by allowing on shore drilling here in the u.s brock here to explain. >> any new production will take months not weeks and notably candidate biden years ago declaring there would be no new drilling on federal land under his watch, period but soaring oil prices, caused in part by the war on ukraine have changed his stance. nationwide is pain at the pump is stinging, especially for americans traveling long distances this holiday weekend. >> absolutely ridiculous. >> gas prices stink. >> reporter: now for the first time since president biden took office the government is green lighting on shore oil drilling on federal land. the move would open up 144,000 acres to lease sales across the united states. coming at a steep political cost after this adamant campaign pledge >> by the way, no more drilling on federal lands, period period, period, period. >> reporter: oil experts say the president is granting just 1/5 of the land the petroleum industry was seeking, adding it

springy. let's talk about the queen one thing to miss the service. it is a long one she didn't come to church yesterday. how is her health. >> is that a worrisome sign. >> reporter: i think it is very interesting. buckingham palace and the royal family are now treating the queen's engagements in a different way. sources have been saying this weekend that from now on we shouldn't expect to see the queen. and if on the day of engagements that she might want to go to, she feels up to it, only then will we know she's going this is a reverse. and i think one of the reasons they want to change the way they discuss the engagements she's going take part in in is because they don't want the constant will she, won't she? is she up to it and what's going on with her health from now on she'll not be expected at most big events unless she's up to it. but you are right, her faith is very very important to her

we know she will have taken the decision not to go to thursday where she traditionally hands out little gestures to people who really deserve it. and then not to go to easter sudden service that. will have been a decision not taken lightly. but we're told that she is increasingly frail you can see it with your own eyes she's lost considerable amount of weight. she doesn't want to be seen in a wheel chair. this is certainly one of the factors for the decision so anything that might involve a lot of standing up, a lot of walking is certainly not going to be something she's going to be able to do in the future. but as keir said, she turns 96 this week. >> of course let's talk about a surprise visit of harry and meghan to the queen. i always smile about that because i'm sure you don't just drop in on the queen yoo hoo. she wasn't surprised i'm sure but the rest of us were. are have you learned anything more about that and what that might mean for mending
