and they're going to start cracking down on that. but the math shows the net loss of subscribers in because of this guy. netflix cut service off to russia, lost about 200,000 subscribers. that's enough to turn the subscription numbers negative. as i mentioned last week, we're going to see the effect of russia on all kinds of american businesses and it's worth remembering, as this company disappoints or that company shows slower shares, ultimately all of these companies are doing the right thing. they're on the right side of history. on a happy note, "stranger things" is coming back to netflix. it is back on may 27th. it's been a while since we've seen those guys. i know those high prices, i look at it and think, am i really getting that much use out of this. >> or this one show, is it worth that much money. >> that's the big question.

airfare now is $330 per round trip ticket, according to flight booking site hopper. that is a 7% increase over the same period in 2019 and the highest average price since hopper started collecting data. pent-up travel demand, higher fuel prices, staffing shortages at major airlines, all contributing to the increases. >> more staycations. >> no, we've done that for two and a half years. trending this morning, it seems -- >> he's won a lot, spotify artist two years in a row and now he is being honored with two wax figures. we want to play a game with you. can you guess which one of these is the real bad bunny? take a look at the screen and look closely. >> i say the one on the right. >> that one? >> yeah. >>let get a closer look. >> not that one.

they awaited their court hearing for health reasons. next month we're scheduled to go back to the regular system. the white house worrying that will mean far more refugees. so new this morning the white house is going to ask congress for more money for border security. speaking of money, the white house says it will try to fix the student loan system, starting with the income driven repayment system that lowered payments based on how much money the borrower made and forgave loans after roughly 20 years of payments. the governor lends the money but farms out the collection to private companies and they were not properly tracking those payments. so people were not getting credit for all those payments. you made 20 years of payment and the government didn't even know. the president will meet with top american military leaders to discuss the situation in ukraine. meanwhile, he'll announce $800 million more worth of weapons
6:46 am
and material be sent this week. it's tricky. you've got to send weapons that nato uses, but that ukrainians are already trained on. you can't send them american tanks. ukrainians haven't been trained on them. we can send them soviet designed armored personnel carriers like these. those were american soldiers, but you saw the red, blue and yellow symbol. those are from hungary. ukrainian president zelenskyy keeps asking for more. he says the west keeps asking what he needs. he said i need a moment to calm myself because i told them a week before, it's groundhog day. i feel like bill murray. we'll monitor everything that's happening in washington and of course in ukraine. we'll talk about it on social media. we like your questions, too. join me on twitter. i'm @scott scottmcgrew. the "today" show's hoda kotb is sitting down with southern california resident, prince harry, talking about the invictus games, his sports

6:50 am
into the evening it's going to get heavier. so just watching out for that as temperatures reach into the mid-60s. we have upper 60s for the east bay and low 60s in the north bay where the rain gets started faster for today. we're also going to see quite a bit of sierra snow, and then on friday this is going to be tapering off. notice that after that, we do see some rain nearby, but a lot of it dries up or heads farther to the north before it even makes it to the bay area. so this may be our only chance, but at least with this storm it's looking fairly significant. we may see anywhere from a half inch of rain to closer to 2 inches of rain in some spots. it depends on where some of the heavier rain decides to fall. the sierra, we could see 2 feet of snow over the next few days. at least it will gradually start to clear out by friday evening into saturday for travel to the sierra. here we're looking at temperatures that will reach into the low 70s with sunshine
6:51 am
