the day. mike keeping an eye on the roads, we'll get to that in a bit. first we start with meteorologist kari hall. you're tracking the possibility of rain this mother's day weekend? >> it's misting and drizzling now and we have a chance to see spotty, light rain here and there over the next couple of days. it is a mostly cloudy morning and then look at our temperatures and what we'll see for today. really warming up nicely for parts of the south bay into the upper 70s. we'll see some mid-70s for the inland east bay and the north bay for the most part staying in the upper 60s, up to around 71 in napa and san francisco reaching 66 degrees. saturday is your day to get out there but it will be cool near the coast, and for our inland valleys, it's going to be very nice and comfortable but there will be that slight chance of rain we could see on mother's day as our highs in some spots only reach into the mid-60s. we'll talk more about this coming up. mike, how is it looking for the commuters? >> looking like it was good to talk to the kids and let them

overturned or cases being dismissed because once an officer's credibility is called into question, the entire case can fall apart. >> reporter: no argument from the police union. >> and we want to ensure that the public does trust us and really understands, again, this is not who we are. >> reporter: thom jensen, "today in the bay." to a story you'll only see on nbc bay area, the woman accused of helping to kidnap 3-month-old baby brandon last week was deported three times. i.c.e. sent her back to el salvador in 2018, twice in 2019. also in 2019 yesenia ramirez spent ten days in texas in a jail for illegal entry into the u.s. the immigration agency is asking the county to hold onto ramirez when she is released so they can deport her again but it's not that easy. >> the county made a commitment not to collaborate with i.c.e., especially because we want to make sure that we are upholding
4:36 am
the value of our community and our community feeling safe and trusting for our local police. >> if yesenia ramirez is found guilty and sentenced to prison the state would hold her for deportation after she serves her sentence. >> part of our investigation into the kidnapping of baby brandon led us to a back room san jose church. our investigative unit learned the death of a child at the church has been ruled a homicide. an exorcism type of ceremony. >> reporter: the death is ruled asphyxia few to suffocation. authorities make that ruling a homicide they believe the death was caused by actions of another person. they stressed that it's not a legal conclusion and doesn't necessarily mean anyone will face murder charges. however, we do know the victim's mother, claudia hernandez, was arrested in january on felony

4:47 am
warmer than what we'll see across much of the rest of the bay area, with hayward reaching 69 degrees. we'll see a high of 75 in walnut creek, and in livermore, but then when you head over toward the coast we're looking at some mid-60s for half moon bay. daly city reaching 65 and upper 50s and low 60s in san francisco. mission district the warmest at 66 and 69 in novato and santa rosa. napa today reaching 71. this is where we'll see more clouds, even a couple of spotty, light showers this morning. especially near the coastline and as you head up toward ukiah and santa rosa, we could see some light rain, also a chance later on tonight, so we'll get some clearing in between, and then another chance of some spotty, light showers, most of us won't see it, it will be near the coast and happening late this evening and we go into a sunny saturday, and then on sunday, we'll be watching another system approaching from the north. so really unsettled here as we see the storm systems passing to the north of us, we will see more of that going into sunday
4:48 am
into monday, with that chance of some light showers, but once again, by no means a washout and no reason to cancel any plans. even going into next week, we're seeing more of the same. as far as how much rain we could see between now and a week out, well, it could be about 0.1 of an inch of rain for a few spots, maybe just enough to water the lawn. it's looking a little bit better for ukiah on northward, and we could see closer to three-quarters of an inch of rain there. sierra will get a nice snowfall over the weekend and possibly more next week. in all we could see about a foot of snow and maybe even a little bit more for some of the upper elevations. so it's once again stays unsettled but not a lot happening here for the bay area. we're looking at temperatures today reaching into the mid-70s. mother's day definitely cool with that chance of some light showers that could continue into monday and for san francisco, we have mid-60s today but it will be a cooler weekend, you'll want to keep that jacket and maybe the umbrella somewhere close by.
