up at 5:30. that breaking news comes after a deadly weekend across the country. a buffalo supermarket in and orange county church, both sites of deadly mass shootings. we have live team coverage as reaction is pouring in from across the country, including right here in the bay area. today, sierra johnson spoken speaking with the mother who says the violence hit close to home. will nbc bay area chris maloney first because he has been following the latest on a buffalo with that investigation. chris, where does that stand this morning? >> marcus and lauren, good morning to you. first of all, we are learning so much more about the 10 victims of this massacre. among them, they were parents. there was a church deacon. also, a woman who ran the food bank for the needy. investigator say that it was no coincidence that is happened here. they believe it was intentional. that this spot was picked because it is a predominantly black neighborhood. >> reporter: while the

investigation of this grocery store massacre is still in its early stages, the buffalo police commissioner says one thing is clear. >> this is an absolute, racist hate crime that will be prosecuted as a hate crime. this is someone who has hate in their heart, soul, and mind. >> reporter: saturday afternoon, a loan gunmen opened fire at tops friendly. >> a whole lotta shooting. just one after. kept going. >> reporter: in all, 13 people shot. 10 killed. 11 of the victims are african- american. >> this individual came here with the express, express purpose of taking as many lack lives as he possibly could. -- >> reporter: 18-year-old peyton gendreau and is charged with first-degree murder. investigator say he drove 200 miles from buffalo the day before the attack to a preferred target. >> >> reporter: among those killed, retired buffalo police officer, eric salter, the store security guard who died trying to stop the shooter.

>> he was over 20 something years as a buffalo police officer. lost his life that tops. disgusting. >> people who live in the area have been gathering outside the market to comfort each other and pray. >> this was an act of evil. evil. >> reporter: president biden, coming to buffalo tomorrow to condemn the attack. >> we must all work together to address the hate. it remains sustained --. >> reporter: police investigated the accused gunman last year for making a threat, but say he was relieved, released after a brief mental health evaluation. today, investigators are combing through the social media profiles of the accused gunman. they are looking at phones and computers. they are also looking at that link the document they say they believe that the accused gunman put this document online two days before the attack. they say it contains information about it, looking into the planning, and also the motive for the attack.

laura? >> chris, thanks for the very latest there. we have got new developments this morning. the southern california church shooting which police say it could've been far work churchgoers didn't spring into action. police say a man of asian descent walked into a mostly asian church and started firing yesterday afternoon in laguana woods and orange county. one person died. five others were injured. churchgoers managed to to tackle and hogtie the gunmen using an extension cord. the sheriff's office says the gunman was fully bound by the time deputies arrived on the scene. >> that group of churchgoers displayed what we believe exceptional heroism and bravery in intervening to stop the suspect. >> reporter: it is believed up to 40 people were inside the church at a lunch banquet when the shooter entered. authorities are still trying to determine that the suspect has a higher connection to the church. delayed to shootings once again, leaving an entire nation looking for answers. and this morning, one bay area

woman who lived through her own nightmare is speaking out. her son died in the gilroy garlic festival shooting rampage. today in the bay, sierra johnson live for us this morning. sierra, this, i made reliving this again, i would imagine --. >> really, really tough weekend for this woman. her name is tammy williams that she tells us the moment she saw those images, those just awful images coming out of buffalo. she instantly had a flashback to something she experienced. something we all experience, that gilroy garlic festival. it is at that festival she lost her son. you could imagine, those images are really just kind of triggering for her. that mother tells us, it was almost the same day when she got the call that her son, trevor irving died, to add insult to injury, tammy williams doesn't live too far from that tops on the east side buffalo with that my was played up.

as you are heading out of palo alto, you can see the fog. at times it may be misting. with the temperatures in the mid-50s for the next couple of hours and then going into the rest of today, we will start to see our temperatures warming up as we go from the low 60s, eventually up to about 72 degrees that. and we will see a high of 71 in san jose. some mid to upper 60s for the interbay heading over towards the tri-valley. -- a little more warmer reaching 73 degrees and for fairfield it is 81 today. now, we do have a mild start to the week. very seasonable but it starts to heat up over the next couple of days. and san francisco will be in the mid-60s. 84 tomorrow in santa rosa. and 81 in livermore. you can see how much warmer it is going to be on wednesday with a wide range and temperatures from upper 60s in half moon bay to upper 80s for santa rosa. and a 93 in fairfield. so, our valley temperatures are going to be heating up as this high pressure builds. but we will get some waves of cooler air every now and then.

as you are stepping out the door in pleasant hill, lower temperatures are in the mid- 50s. you do need a jacket for now. but later today it is going to be so nice and comfortable. really nice weather. especially for some of our inland areas where our temperatures warm up to the low to mid 70s today. we will see a high of 73 in livermore. 75 in martinez. napa today reaching 77, while it is still cool in half moon bay. up to 60 degrees, but we are going to start to warm up tomorrow into the middle of the week. for some of our valleys, we are headed to the low to mid 80s tomorrow. and then we will see some upper 80s and even a couple of low 90s in morgan hill. on wednesday, we are headed for 87 degrees. 83 in dublin and 87 in martinez. and in napa. so, really, no rain coming our way for this week. you can see the storm track and the trends, staying to the north of the bay area. we are at times going to see a couple of pushes with some slightly cooler air. overall, we are in for some
