shooter. >> he is over 20 something years as a buffalo police officer. >> people who live in the area have been gathering outside to comfort each other and pray. >> this was an act of evil! >> president by and coming to buffalo tomorrow. >> we must work together to address the hate. >> police investigated the accused gunman last year for making a threat, but said he was released after a mental health evaluation. already this morning, we have seen a lot of investigative activity at the crime scene team of fbi agents. they went into the store to continue their investigation. they are looking at social media posts from the accused gunman and looking at the 180 page manifesto they believe the shooter put on the internet two days before this attack.

>> one short moment ruined so many lives. chris in buffalo. new developments this morning in southern california, the church shooting which could have been far worse if churchgoers do not spring into action. deputies say amen what into a mostly asian church and started firing in the afternoon. this happened in orange county. when my person died, five others were injured. churchgoers were active. they managed to tackle and hogtie the gunmen using an extension cord. the sheriff's office said the suspect was found by the time deputies arrived on the scene.. >> churchgoers displayed exceptional heroism and bravery and intervening to stop the

suspect.. >> up to 40 people were inside the church at the lunch banquet when the shooter injured. authorities are trying to see if he has a connection to the church. all leaving a entire nation looking for answers. one bay area mother lived through her own nightmare. her son died at the gilroy garlic festival shooting rampage. johnson is live with us. i can only imagine what the mother is going through after hearing something like this. >> good morning, marcus. we had a chance to see details. she saw the images coming out of that in the eastside of buffalo. she cried because it reminded her of what she went through when she lost her son in a situation that played out not too far from here at the gilroy garlic festival. the situation is triggering for her. it was almost the same day when she got the call when she learned her son, trevor irby, died. kenny williams said she does

not live too far from that on the side of buffalo where the violence played out. she said she feels like there is a loop of mass shootings and they will not stop until more attention is focused on mental health. >> it is a cycle that needs to be broken. it is something every household should have. there is no race. it should be one race, the human race. >> reporter: we are getting reactions from lawmakers from city councilmember lorraine taylor to go to social media to share his emotions regarding the mass shooting in buffalo saying "i'm heartbroken by hatred and racism. it is like cancer wreaking havoc on the internal organs of our country. race is a public health emergency in america." he said 5:23, i will chair the enrichment committee during which we will advance

rejected jetblue's original offer saying it was unlikely regulated to approve the deal because if frontier takes over spirit, you have this low-cost airline that remains. if jetblue takes over, you get the full cost airline getting bigger. we learned mcdonald's is leaving russia for good. it will sell all of its stores. it temporarily closed 847 russian stores, but never reopened. mcdonald's says russia is no longer "consistent with mcdonald's values." rare green arrows on wall street friday, but don't let them mislead you. the stock market saw losses for the sixth straight week. the s&p 500 is very close to its territory. when we look at the future, we see more red lights ahead. some startups in silicon valley are worried about money drying up, or at least slowing. this week on the podcast, and all he really talks to the investment arm about that worry. caroline of berkeley cited that

temperatures are below 60's in half moon bay and low 80s for fairfield with livermore reaching 73 degrees. tomorrow, temperatures come up a few more degrees. we see more widespread 80s on the map and upper 70s for novato as well as los gatos and our temperatures peak well for the first time on wednesday. we will reach into the upper 80s and low 90s in fairfield. napa reaching 87 on wednesday. get ready to turn on rain stay look at brentwood, it will be hot here pretty much all week after tomorrow with highs in the low 90s and some mid-90s going into the weekend. no brakes there. inland temperatures will feel more like late may, early june, and above normal with temperatures as we continue with dry conditions here. the weekend will be warm with mid-80s in our inland areas.

mark in san jose said he and his wife returned a lease chevy bolt. that is block with a b, an electric car. he handed over that and the charging cable. he said he got this receipt, which states that the portable charging cable was returned. low and behold, mark said gm later sent him a $514 bill for the cable. he said he was trying to fix it himself at the dealer, but he asked us to take a look. we contact corporate. it said it could not comment on specifics, but gm took charge. within two days, mark said gm waived the $500.14 charge. it said no doubt your car moved them to take action. in addition to the money, we asked gm about removing any red flags it put on their credit report, it did.

and online. let's get you to the breaking news this morning.. >> today in the base kris sanchez is live in san jose where she has been all morning. two people were shot, right? >> reporter: two people were shot. they are not saying much. you can look down the way, you will see the local crime scene unit. they bring those out to pretty big incidents. two people were shot. we know one man has life- threatening injuries. we know a woman has non-life- threatening injuries. this happened in a home not too far from the san jose state campus. this is is san salvador and south 10th street. this is off the campus just across the street from the san jose state campus village. we do not know what the motive for this shooting was at this point, nor whether there is

some threat to the public. we have to assume if there was a no threat to the public, they would tell us. we are asking questions. as i mentioned in the mobile crime scene unit, they are here along with animal control. we saw one of the animal control officers going to the home where this happened. we can expect once they remove whatever animal is there considered to be a threat, they will go in there and do more investigating. we have a quite large number of officers. we will keep asking questions. in san jose, kris sanchez. thank you. developing right now in southern california, the fbi is assisting in the investigation into the shooting at it orange county church yesterday afternoon at laguna woods. deputies say a man of asian descent walked inside the mostly asian church and started firing. when my person died, five others are injured. churchgoers are going into action tackling and hogtied

was not injured. it was someone else in the car. defense attorney mark is representing velasquez. he has represented other clients including tom peterson, chris brown. 6:33 right now. a alarming warning about just how long the baby formula shortage could last. ceo of formula maker said he predicts the shortage could last the rest of the year. the commissioner of the fda says he does not anticipate that to be the case. one possible solution could be on the rise. >> we are taking a number of measures including getting all of the manufacturers to get the plant up and going, but also importing or bringing the product intended for other countries. that is well underway now. i expect by the end of the day, today, we are likely to have an announcement. >> pediatricians warn against

conducting a slide burn at the experimental 300 test site. you can see why this is so important. the bay area is in a severe drought, the middle of california has been a extreme drought which means we could have another dangerous wildfire season. cal fire is winning everyone to prepare fires this year round. here is an example of what can happen when people are not careful. cal fire determined on the peninsula, the grass fire on the weekend on saturday evening was caused by illegal fireworks on highway 92 at the piñata road . use your common sense. the coastal fire has destroyed 20 homes and damaged another 11 in orange county. that is 60% contained. if you live in a fire prone area, prepare by coming up with a state plan. you can sign up for cal fire

upper 60s. concord will be warmer at 77 and 77 in napa. san francisco has mid-60s. take a look at tomorrow. temperatures go up a few more degrees reaching 82. morgan hill is 80 degrees and novato in upper 70s. on wednesday, warm-ups reach into the first of temperatures this week. you can probably see that at the bottom of your screen. highs in oakland are upper 70s. check out fairfield, 93 degrees. we are in the study weather pattern with not a lot happening across the bay area. all of the rain across the pacific northwest, high pressure builds and ramps up temperatures. check out brentwood, it is mild today. we see a lot of 90s in the forecast into early next week. air conditioning starts to crank it up.

it will feel like that late may and early june as opposed to early may. we have inland areas reaching into the 80s throughout the week and gusty winds at times. we will feel that near the coast with highs in the upper 60s briefly hitting low 70s on wednesday and a warmer weekend ahead. mild in the south bay. >> north 101 at 680 is clear. the arrow is light traffic for san jose. north of there is a problem. a crash just north of 297 on 101 going down westbound 237 coming again. there is a mountain view with a crash on one lane from what i understand. and other crashed registered with different details. somebody might be injured in that crash. there might be two consecutive classes. we are tracking that portion of 101. the typical pattern in the tri-

>> kris sanchez is live at the double shooting near the san jose state campus. >> reporter: we know they are still out here investigating. the shooting was reported after 3:00 this morning. here we are four hours later, and they are still on scene. the mobile crime scene unit is down here. animal control was out here. they just removed a dog from the residence where the shooting appears to have happened. i want to show you video of the scene, and a map to give you some perspective of where we are. this is south 10 street at east san salvador. it is just across the street from san jose state campus village. it appears to have happened off campus as san jose police are now investigating rather than campus police. we know when my person was shot, amen. he has life-threatening injuries. a second person was shot, a woman who has non-life- threatening emergencies. we don't know the nature of the relationship between those two people, nor what the
