livermore firefighters investigating a string of three suspicious fires. it happened two hours ago. this is near a trail at the granada high school. police also are investigating this. we have been tracking the increased fire danger. >> it big fire at the altamont pass yesterday too. that is the danger where we have dry vegetation and gusty wind. that continues today. we are looking at increased fire danger and tomorrow the drive in continues. for the weekend, temperatures stay hot as you head out this morning. we are seeing low 60s. definitely warmer than where we normally start our morning. we are going to see temperatures wrapping right back up again at noon, 82 degrees. we talk about how hot it gets in some of the hottest spots in the valley coming up. also we look ahead to the weekend in a few minutes. right now, a mystery this morning for authorities in oakland. two people were hospitalized after their car crashed on

interstate 580. the car was riddled with gunfire. what are you learning? what do we know so far? >> reporter: we believe two, possibly three people were taken to the hospital. we are still trying to find out whether one of the people might have died. this happened about 8:30 in oakland. you can see on the map that we put together for you this was on eastbound 580 near the off ramp. not far from the highway 13 splits. this came in with injuries on the freeway. they realize the people in the car had been shut. four occupants shots on a local side streets and on the freeway. chp shutdown the off ramp with a good search for the entire

welcome back. environment groups urging the governor to close the nuclear power plant along the pacific coastline. it's already projected to close in 2025. governor newsom recently said it's may remain open past that point. in a letter to the governor this week, environmentalist and anti- nuclear wrists call the idea outrageous. earlier this year a group of academics and scientists including the former u.s. energy secretary wrote a separate letter to support keeping it open. they say provides clean electrical energy and helps combat climate change. >> accounts for the number of deaths with climate change. to compare power to what we have. certainly it is safer. certainly much better. >> governor newsom has no direct authority over the operating license for the canyon owned by pg&e.

parking policy since it was first announced. this is a protest back on february 20th. workers point out with minimum wage in the county, $16 an hour, it forces them to pay to park and it comes out of their paycheck. now employees are charged three dollars a day or $40 a month. the monthly fee amounts to two and half hours of work at minimum wage. guests park for free two hours but then have to pay a dollar an hour after and up to 10 hours a day. management hopes to deter non- shoppers from taking valuable parking. we did talk with one of the protest organizers. >> we are seeing this coming from those in charge at the mall. again, i still do not quite und out, you know, money from the employees. just so they can make a little extra profit. definitely issues of classism.

going to change. it has been so dry and hots. that is raising trump concerns. >> the drought monitor up just a few minutes ago. what we are seeing for california really remains unchanged. we have a large swath of the state in a severe drought. we are also seeing the highest level of exceptional drought expand in nevada and that starts to make its way into san bernardino county. so, we are going to hear the severe drought as we go into a very warm we can. that also is raising concerns of a fire danger as the vegetation is very dry for the middle of may. we normally do not see red flag warnings coming up this early. we have concern for solano county today and extending to the central valley where there will be some higher wind. we are starting out this morning with sunshine and temperatures not as warm as yesterday. a fairly mild it was san jose

in temperatures going from the mid 60s at 8:00 to 77 at lunch time. upper 70s as well for later today. some of the valleys are still going to be really hot in concorde reaching 86 degrees, keep in mind the normal highs about 73. in novato today reaching 281. tomorrow, more of the same, still not seeing much of a change but we still see mild weather near the coastline. temperatures next week get even hotter after a very warm weekend. we are going to reach into the mid-90s next monday and tuesday. what is happening now for the commute? >> i am wondering about the 90s. we look at the commute and we have 60 in many places. there is slowing south 880 where the crash is located in hayward. the slowing showed up and another crash northbound 680, the counter commute should not be a problem on the shoulder already. no injuries there. we have a typical buildup.
