inflation nation, from gas to groceries, it is getting harder to make it in the bay. we are crunching numbers about how much more everyday items are costing all of us. came on, the warriors are gearing up to take up the mavericks in game two and that wasn't conference finals. we need to know if you are headed to the game, today in the bay. ergo, friday morning. it is 5:00 right now. i want to get you started with a look at the commute and forecast. we are tracking the increasing fire danger. the winds are picking up early. as they may guess, it is windy and a lot of spots, is actually in solano county and the delta. the wind will continue to pick up. we are under the red flag warning.

we see the orange highlights, we have a wind advisory that is just a step below the red flag warning. we have dangerous conditions due to low humidity and high winds. at 8:00 this morning, look at napa. all these areas are lit up in red and purple for the upper elevations coming to the delta. we will see that stay at 30 to 40 miles per hour. at times, they will gust even higher. we will monitor that and what is ahead over the weekend, coming up. developing now, a deadly officer involved shooting in san francisco is under investigation. we have the report from ginger.>> reporter: good morning. the seven off of mariposa and owens street off of the 280 near usf mission bay last night. i was in the area before the shooting. there were a lot of people out around that time.

so far, the police department have not shown much. officers responded to an aggravated assault: progress at 7:48 in the evening. officers found two men in the area. the officer involved shooting occurred at medics were called to the scene. one man was declared dead at the scene. the other was brought to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. we do not know if it was due to the cause of the shooting or the original assault. we know officers were not injured. more answers can be expected at a town hall happening in 10 days. live in san francisco, today in the bay. overnight, fire crews are in oakland working to put out a structure fire. this is near the edge of water drive and pendleton way. one person is being treated for inhalation. the building appeared to be of

warmer commercial space. the fire is contained and no other structures were threatened or damaged. the cause of the fire is being investigated this morning. it is becoming more and more expensive to make it in the bay with rent, food, and gasoline. drivers have to dig deeper in their wallets to travel. it is memorial day, coming up. >> good morning. unfortunately, we are back in the six dollar range per gallon of gasoline. it is guaranteed to go up on july 1. that is when they california gas tax goes up. i heard the latest overnight numbers from aaa. you can see oakland, san francisco, we are averaging $6.16. compared to a month ago, i am trying to do the math, that is up about $.40 from a month ago.

we spoke with the head of petroleum analysis and gas buddy. he blames russia's war with ukraine and supply and demand issues in the u.s.a. >> we shut down half a dozen refineries over the last 3 years. i miss high demand for products, refineries have been struggling to keep up with demand, with gasoline and diesel inventories plummeting. the gas inventories last week plummeted nearly 5 million barrels, just in a week. bloomberg reports the price for a gallon of milk is up 25%. bacon is 30% higher. that is since the start of the pandemic. they do one that food prices could go out more. the business publications is to distributors and restaurants, those types of businesses have been trying to hold back on

price increases to the consumer by squeezing their own margins. they can only do that for so long. they will have to pass the cost onto us more. this comes as inflation hit a 40 year high across the country. reporting today in the bay. we are all feeling the pinch. to make this morning, president biden is in south korea. this is his first trip to asia as president. just into the newsroom, two secret service staffers are at home. we're told this is due to an alleged drunken incident that led to a scuffle over taxicab. both staffers will be placed on administrative leave. this is a video out of south korea showing the president speaking at an event for samsung this morning. during his trip, he highlighted partnerships with asian companies. the agreement will create jobs in the u.s., and alleviate supply-chain issues. the president will also visit japan. the trip is being seen as a sign of unity with key allies in the face of the growing

military and economic threats from north korea, china, and russia. this is an affirmative vision of what the world can look like if the democracies and open societies of the world stand together to shape the world. >> u.s. senate has the $40 billion aid package to help ukraine in his battle with russia. the bill is on its way to south korea for president biden to sign. help is on the way for parents dealing with the ongoing baby formula shortage. the first flight of supplies from other countries are right this weekend. this comes after the biden administration took emergency actions. one of these groups is in austin, texas, where you find the largest breastmilk donor organization in the country. the formula demanding that city skyrocketed 300% since the shortages started. the executive directors of the organization is being stretched

look at the trend. it will be a nice and comfortable morning, as the highs had for 77 degrees. you'll be 86 in fairfield. it is hot in the inland valley's. we are watching in fairfield due to the high fire danger and the gusty winds that will continue. we are looking at the weekend coming up in a few minutes. has a look of the morning commute? to make it is better in north bay. we had an early traffic alert. i am still getting the alert, because the flares are still there. all lanes are cleared of the crash. the sensors just turned back to green. south 101, you will find the flares a bit longer, before they burn out. there will be no problems as far as the lanes go. i will get confirmation if we get a warning. across these bay in contra costa county, we have no problems getting across the bridges. we are looking at a smooth drive.

we are looking to have this continued until 2:00 today. that is where we can see the highest wind gusts. you are dealing and likely hearing the wind before you step out the door. as we go into today, we are watching the top wind speeds that are about 25 to 47 miles per hour out of the northwest in san francisco. when you combine the high windows with extremely low humidity, that threat could cause a spark or fire to spread quickly. look at the relative humidity in fairfield. if you are not dealing with fire danger, you definitely need some moisturizer. with the air that dry, and going into the afternoon, that could be uncomfortable. even in the north bay, with relative humidity levels in the single digits, that is what drives out the brush and vegetation. tries everything out faster compared what is typical for the sum of the year.

as we look at the wind speed in the forecast today, it is gusting at 35 to 45 miles per hour near napa. you can see the purple shading, and the wind will gradually start to come down tonight. it will take a while. the next few hours will be key. as we look at temperatures today, we have upper 70s and low 80s. we have mid-eighties in the east bay. along the coast, we are in the 60s. will see 60s and 70s in san francisco, and mid 80s in the north bay. the dry weather continues next week. we can see a change in the pattern, possibly near memorial day. that could bring rain closer to the bay area. in the near term, it is dry, and well above normal. look at these highs, reaching into the upper 80s and low 90s. is reaching 92 on tuesday. there will be sponsor even hotter, but slightly lower by the end of next week. mike, you are going to the

south bay, checking out a problem there? >> yes, we are looking at the freeways. the freeways and the interstates are moving here. this is just up highway 87, there is a signal, a critical signal by the park and ride lots. one direction of the signal is out. that could affect traffic coming off of the freeway. that could be an issue for the surface streets. hopefully the local service personnel can get out there. i will let you know about any closures. that is off of highway 87. it is early for that commute in the south bay. the traffic is green. highway 4, no delays out of antioch. we are seeing some buildup, but no slowing yet.

the winds are breezy. we are keeping an eye on solano county. you are under the red flag warning. that is a step up from a wind advisory, which we are seeing in the east at northbay hills. we have extremely low humidity. look at 5:30. relative humidity numbers, in the northbay and the inland east bay will be in the single digits. with the low humidity and gusty winds, that could mean a quickly spreading fire. we will talk about the weekend forecast, coming up. overnight, a homicide investigation is underway in the east bay. police and oakley responded to a shooting on main street this morning. officer said they found a man, on response to suffering from a gunshot wound. the victim died at the scene. so far, there is no word on any arrest, or motive. one local restaurant owner is being remembered after being fatally shot. jun anabo was shot and killed

this is one of the locations that will be ready to deliver those booster shots for our littlest kids, ages 5 to 11 years old. the pediatric practices will be ready as well. you will want to call ahead. the booster for this age group is the smaller dose, like the first two covid-19 vaccinations. you will want to make sure they have that. because these are smaller doses, it is really important for kids in this age group to get boosted. as of today, the cdc authorized the boosters for ages five to 11, at least four months after the second dose. the cdc strengthen the recommendation for a second rooster, for anyone 12 and up that is immunocompromised, or anyone 50 and up as well. both groups should seek a second booster at least four months after the first booster. the parents of these children are not clamoring for the

vaccinations. only one third of california children are fully vaccinated. however, since the pandemic started, 4.8 million children in this group tested positive for covid-19. 15,000 of them ended up in the hospital. 180 little children died of the virus. the county websites are taking appointments. i searched one up. there were appointments available in santa clara county as early as 8:40 this morning. thank you. many families know, the pandemic has been challenging for all of us, including kids. this month is mental health awareness month. this comes as new data reveals almost have a parent say the pandemic has caused mental health albums for one or more of their children. i spoke with dr. charmaine jackson about why this is so

important. >> talking about their motions, and making space for that, allows them to develop the language, and the capacity to understand and identify the different emotions they are having. dr. jackson is working with the sounded out campaign to raise awareness on the issue. talk with her about what all parents should look out for. make if you notice something is not quite right with your little one, please reach out to your pediatrician or your school counselor, or therapist in your community. those of the early signs. looking for any changes in their behavior, their mood. i know teenagers and adolescents can be tricky. they're going through all of the hormone changes that comes up and creates mood changes. if you're looking from mood changes that persist beyond the daily up and down. >> parents should look for

condition. president joe biden is on his first day of his trip to asia. he is looking at factories that he would like to see relocate to america. that would be good for jobs. that could speed up the supply chain. that will take time. you cannot build a factory overnight. president joe biden is touring a samsung facility in korea. their promised to build chip factories in texas. until promised new chip fabrication, building a mega facility in arizona. the chips are generally designed here in america. most are manufactured overseas. 75% are from asia. >> are two nations work together to make the best, most advanced technology in the world. this factory is proof of that. gives both the republic of korea and the united states a competitive edge in the global

economy. stomach the president has been urging american chip companies to think america first. they have been working with silicon valley leaders. the ceo of intel was the first lady's guest at the state of the union. congress has not passed the innovation act, including money to encourage the chips to be made here. the president will spend five days in asia, and will go to japan next. you will meet with leaders from their, along with leaders from india and australia. the select committee is investigating the january 6 the tax. they want to look at an alleged tour given the day before in the capital. the committee proposed a voluntary meeting for next week. in a statement, he said no republican member of congress let any kind of reconnaissance store through the capital. in pennsylvania, the race between dr. oz and dave mccormick is too close to call.

start or spread due to the weather conditions surrounding that. we are also seeing the high wind advisory for the north bay and east bay hills. we combine the high winds and extremely low humidity, look how dry the area is. this is a measure of relative humidity. it is in the single digits in fairfield. it is at about 5% in napa and santa rosa. this is where the air is critically dry. going into tonight, the humidity will come up a little bit as the winds calm down. we look at gusty winds. you are hearing and seeing that right now and parts of the north bay and the delta. the wind as 40 miles per hour. it will come down to 20 to 25 miles per hour. we are dealing with that, along with the extremely dry conditions we are seeing across

the region. we are in an extreme drought. we saw the update yesterday morning. that continues in the bay area. most of these areas in orange are under a severe drought. when you combine high wind, low community, and drought conditions, we have to be careful. we don't normally see this in may. we have above normal temperatures with highs in the upper 70s in the south bay. we have low and mid 80s for the inland east bay. it will stay breezy tomorrow as well. temperatures are in the mid and upper 70s in the interbay. san francisco keeps it comfortable with upper 60s. throughout the forecast, we will have a more warm weather. next week, we have a spike in temperatures. by monday and tuesday, we are in the low and mid 90s. >> it is breezy here. >> yes, the bay bridge, it is breezy, but we don't have any advisories. my advisor is, even though it is friday, you will have some slowing. i circled some slowing here on
