it is an interesting morning if you are in san jose, you are looking out of your window and thinking, are those rain clouds? it is looking a bit cloudy out there. we have a system making its approach to the north and that is bringing a lot of this cloud cover. if you are in the south bay, not a lot of rain yet but a chance of some shower activity into this evening. if you are in san francisco, we have the marine layer, bringing a lot of the high clouds. and we have a bit of that drizzle showing up on our cameras. definitely noticing some of that activity and i will take you through the timing of all of this and a little bit. so fog and low clouds, some fog foot pushing into santa rosa. pushing as well through the san jose area with some cloud cover and temperatures as you head out the door this morning, comfortable and not too cold in the upper 50s. san jose, 59. san francisco, 53.
7:21 am
your hour by hour in outlook, this is what i wanted to show you. at 5:30, areas north of the golden gate bridge have a chance of seeing shower activity and a lot of that stage to our north. however, a possibility of isolated showers by 8:00 and even throughout some parts of the south bay. if you see something or spot something in your area outside of your window this evening, take us and take me on twitter so that i can share your photo tomorrow morning. forecasted highs today, forecasted wins at about 17 miles per hour, and look at that, in san jose, 72 degrees. morgan hill, 75. go like, 74 and even some of our warmer spots -- keep in mind, the interior was in the 90s earlier this week, so a nice change there. we have got 60s and 70s through the north bay. if you are heading to bottlerock this weekend, breezy and windy at times so dress appropriately. any time that you see those
7:22 am
temperatures, we get a slight chance of temperatures. if you are heading to carnaval as well, our team will be out there. a little windy on sunday for the grand parade, 9:30 to 2:30, so if you're out and about, please be careful with the wind. aside from that, enjoy your time. it will be a beautiful weekend when it comes to the weather. >> thanks so much. it is 7:22 right now and we have more ahead. homeless in the philippines, he is now living the dream. we introduce you to the man behind the voice, the lead singer of the legendary band, journey.
7:25 am
>> welcome back. we continue to celebrate aapi heritage month and our next stop takes us on a journey with the man leading the legendary band. we are taken behind the scenes with the journey front man. >> reporter: he has been called a saber cinderella story and a rags to riches story, but for arnel pineda, it is his dream come true. how many filipinos can say that they are doing these kinds of things? >> it is that too that i'm proud of. >> reporter: and there is lots
7:26 am
to be proud of. for almost 15 years, arnel pineda has been the voice of legendary rock and journey. >> a lot of people are surprised to see, my god, we didn't know, right? that it is a filipino. and they thought i am still in my 20s. >> reporter: his bandmates say that he has reunited the soul of the band that stalled one that steve perry left in the 1996. arnel pineda's passion for music started long before fronting the rock band. in a documentary, the journey of every man, he candidly talks about the devastating loss of his mother as a young boy, homelessness in the philippines and how music and a random email that he thought was a joke changed his life. nothing could have prepared him for what was in store. >> i mean, i am so short and i look so brown, i look really asian. >> reporter: what you call a misfit, some might say that you being the front man is a sign
7:27 am
of the times and is the perfect fit. have you felt any cons from fans or people along the way? >> from fans of course. they loved steve perry and kent accepted, but it is okay. i also treated as a challenge, so that is why i am still here. they don't feel convinced that i have got it, to be one of the bands, it's singer. that's okay. at least i know that i try my best. >> what makes it all worthwhile for him is to represent >>we are really courageous to try it, even if we know we are going to fail. we will still try because there is this 10% chance that we will make it. so let's keep striving. it is the only way to chase our dreams. >> reporter: or as he regularly and passionately things on stage, don't stop believing.

7:31 am
here is a peak of our microclimate forecast. i don't know if peak is the right word because we cannot see anything. >> yes, and i enjoy mornings like that where you can sleep in and look at the cloudy skies. but we will get a little bit of sunshine at some point today, so san francisco right now, about 50 degrees and we are even seeing some drizzle out there but you notice in the icons and the hourly forecast, by 1:00 or 2:00, a mix of sun and clouds, and the biggest thing leading into the weekend will also be the increase in wins. right now in san jose, also seeing some of that cloud coverage. temperatures start to bump up and by about 1:00, the 70s and then a little bit sunnier through the interior. it is also pretty humid and that will bring us a chance of some showers, but i will guide you to that in just a few minutes.
7:32 am
>> thanks. we begin with this going memorial filled with candles and flowers, and balloons that you see therefore the 21 victims called from the mass shooting in uvalde, texas. we are looking at the timeline of what happened at robb elementary school on tuesday as families that lost loved ones want to know what happened in the 47 minutes before the first 911 call in the moment that the gunmen were killed. families are arranged today. >> reporter: texas authorities are addressing the questions in the response to tuesday's measuring, revealing a timeline. they say that the suspect crashed a truck into a nearby general home in the first call to 911 was made at 11:30. a few minutes later, he entered through an unlocked door, and started shooting. >> he shot at least 100 rounds.

children and two teachers in texas. before last night's game in cincinnati, he told reporters how he plans to express his frustration. >> i do not plan on coming out for the anthem going forward until i feel like there is -- until i feel better about the direction of our country. >> earlier this week, head coach steve kerr also gained nationwide attention expressing similar feelings across the state of our nation. the massacre in texas is heartbreaking for so many and for so many parents, that sinking feeling is too familiar. when another mass shooting happens in america, many parents figure out how to talk to the kids about violence, about safety and survival. today, laura garcia sat down with a psychologist to shared tips about how to talk to kids about these tragedies. >> the reality is that we do not have control about everything that happens in the world.
7:37 am
i think that a three-step process of connect, care and challenges really helpful, so to connect is really understanding your children and making sure that your relationship is strong with them. care is helping them understand that they can work through anything they are working about. if they are anxious, it is okay and you can be anxious with them. the challenge is to help them develop skills around dealing with the anxiety or being afraid. it is okay to be nervous and we are going to talk to you about how safe our school is. if you don't want to go to school today, maybe that is okay, but your friends are going back. you want to build a community around having a plan, walking with your children. it is critical to your kids where they are as opposed to everyone else. >> yes, and like you have mentioned before, there are sponges and pick up on our emotions as well. active shooter drills are part of a lot of curriculums now and it is very important but i am wondering how this affects the
7:38 am
kids psyche? >> it is different for every child, so given the situation that we are in, everything in the world, there is high anxiety for children and parents and children are concerned and fatigued. it is so important for them to have outlet. but it does not have to have a huge impact on children for the long-term if in the short term you are having conversations and stockpiling positive experiences. if they know the door is already open for them to have a conversation with you. >> importance on all of those car rides home. thank you so much for joining us and giving us great advice. a stolen police car in the east bay leads to a chase and crash and oakland police say around 8:30 they were investigating a suspect in connection with assault. he stole a marked patrol car and took off. they chased him into the lay hole where they crashed into a

minutes of the gunmen entering one of the classrooms, police officers were inside of the will. but the commander on scene made the decision to standby for an extended period of time as dozens of rounds of gunfire could be here from inside the classroom. he said that the decision was made by law enforcement at the scene because they thought it had turned from an active shooter situation into a barricade situation. that is even as 911 calls were being made by victims still trapped inside of the classroom. even the department had calls this a failure on the part of responding officers. speak in mind in the doctrine of active shooters, that you can transition from an active shooter situation to a barricaded subject but if shooting continues, then you have reason to believe that there are individuals alive in there and you have an obligation to move back to active shooter posturing and get everybody out the door. >> that was department of public safety colonel stephen

mcgraw and he also says there were other failures as well. one teacher who heard an initial car crash involving the gunmen mistakenly left a side door open, which allowed the gunmen to enter the school building. it is possible that police at the scene were not aware of the 911 calls being made by victims trapped inside. mcgraw says that there are still so many questions that need to be answered. giants manager gabe kapler is getting national attention because he says that he will not participate in the national anthem until he feels better about the direction of our country. kepler made this known in his blog after the massacre of the 19 children and two teachers. before last night's game in cincinnati, he told reporters how he plans to express his frustration. >> i don't plan on coming out for the anthem going forward until i feel like there is -- until i feel better about the
