sky, this is over the bay area. the meteor shower could possibly appear around the clock p.m. but it all depends on the speed of the meteors. they say if the particles are fast enough the shower may be visible from north america. we could see it. if it is visible, you can catch roughly 1000 shooting stars per hour overnight. first, we are tracking a red flag warning today in the bay how a nice, steady breeze and as we go into late morning into the afternoon, humidity levels are

going to be dropping. high winds, low humidity, a small fire can spread so quickly and we do have to be very careful, not only today but tomorrow. let's go through our hour by hour wind speeds. you can see the winds are going on short, that tends to bring in higher humidity and we are going to see the gusty winds start to turn more northerly as you can see some settling to the sacramento valley into the delta. two fires already broke out over the weekend. >> that is right. firefighters are really trying to stay ahead of the potential for fire danger today. especially with the red flag warning that you mentioned.

this weekend was already difficult. there were two fires that broke out this weekend. this fire was basically out on saturday need to do that saturday, they say the vegetation is wet and saturated but that is not enough. fires are still burning in some areas. another fire broke out sunday in a nature preservea precursor to what it will look like this year. >> we have already experienced it in the spring months.

>> fire crews have purchased a new protective gear. they have also purchased new vehicles to help them be more capable or allow them to be more capable to get those those harder to reach fires. they are also clearing public land and clearing the brush on public land to help stay one step ahead of the fires for the fire season and they are also reminding homeowners to maintain the zone, which means keeping about 100 yards or so from your home and the areas around. back to you guys. kilee hall is keeping us updated about the wind and fire danger, even when we are not on the air, she is always tweeting out updates about the changing conditions. funerals are expected to begin today for the 21 victims in last tuesday's school shooting. >> this all comes as the justice department looks at the

failures by law enforcement. that announcement made yesterday. the cities may requested to review, which the justice department says will provide a fair and transparent independent account of law enforcement actions. victims family members among many asking why it took more than an hour for authorities to confront the gunmen. >> what about the kids? >> at least three victims who survived the shooting are still in hospitals including a 10- year-old girl listed in serious condition. back here in the bay area, a holiday's liberation interrupted by gunfire. police ocean on social media

look at some right now. start planning it right now. looking at the routes you want to fly and try to be as flexible as you can in as many ways as you can. if you are in the bay area, look at all three airports in the area. make sure you also compare across airlines. often times you will find a much better deal if you kind of branch out a little bit. and then consider flying on off days. everybody wants to fly out friday but, if you fly on wednesday or thursday, i can guarantee you you will save 20% to 30% off that ticket almost every single time. >> we do have a great opportunity. we have three airports in our area but also you said book in the middle of the week because the you can find some cheaper deals right there. okay, so with changing covid guidelines, what should people keep in mind as they are

just been liked on instagram more than 1 million times. >> that is so cute. let's check in now to see how the weather is today for two parties. >> anything you plan to do or just spending time with the family today. it is going to be at least a lie commute so you can hang out with us a little while longer. we will see temperatures in the tri-valley starting out in the late 50s and then going into the upper 60s and low 70s lunch time, take it outside, although it is going to be windy and we will see some of the gusts really starting to pick up for this afternoon into the evening. noticed these areas in red and purple are going to have the highest wind gusts and we will continue to see those high winds continue throughout today.

as far as our temperatures, we are starting out with some 60s for the week but take a look at how much hotter it is going to be for the inland area. reaching 87 degrees today, really starting to ramp up as a fire danger continues for solano county and it is going to be in the 90s through the middle of the week. notice san francisco stays at 60 so we do keep the natural air conditioning there. we will see a change in the weather pattern where we go from hot to much cooler and possibly some rain and i know we are heading into june and we don't normally talk about rain but if we can get it, that would be amazing because we know how dry it has been. as we are please take a look at our temperatures, we know we are going to have a significant cooldown for the weekend, so, even if we don't get the rain or if it is a very spotty one, you will have a nice cooldown for the weekend with san jose reaching into the mid-70s after starting the week with the 80s. as we go through the next

several days, we go from 75 today to the upper 80s for the middle of the week and then back to the 70s for the weekend with the chance of rain on saturday and sunday. looking at san francisco we are also going to see the cool weather continuing here, we talked about the brisk breeze and the ocean air that is looking like it continues through at least the next week. let's get you out ready on the roads this morning and if you are traveling, just keep in mind that they are on the holiday schedule and so it is going to start up right about now, so, as we get on the roads this morning we have seen everything has been nice and quiet. we saw an earlier hit and run and also now an animal hazard. so watch out for that is you are driving up to redwood city. elsewhere it is looking green summer so hopefully we will continue to see it stay this way, we are driving up to around the bay area. nbc bay area responds.

your phone. this morning, doctors are warning the bay area could be on the cusp of another surge of covid and it comes as many events are happening. >> you set our area has the highest infection rate in the state? >> correct. good morning to you. it could go higher after this memorial day weekend gathering. right now, statewide, the positivity rate is at 70%. but as you can see, all nine bay area counties are higher at 8%.

what was the first visit to the frontlines since the start of the war. today he is expected to speak to the european union about new sanctions they are considering. this morning we are still working to learn where they will appear before a judge. investigators believe he was one of several allegedly members who opened fire to a crowd on april third. over the weekend he was taken into custody in las vegas. they were arrested weeks ago and have been charged with murder and other gun charges. 64 killed that night including three men believed to have been targeted. investigators say three women that were killed were innocent bystanders. dozens more were hurt in that.

timeline this afternoon and really keying in on parts of solano county where the humidity will be dropping down to 15% so it is going to be critically dry. during the overnight hours we will typically see the humidity levels coming up to the 80% to 90% range. we are expecting that once again but it will be dry again tomorrow afternoon. as far as temperatures we have a nice ocean breeze keeping our natural air conditioning in place for san francisco and oakland, low 70s today, mid-70s for dublin and parts of the tri- valley. northbay reaching upper 70s today but the fire danger will begin today in fairfield and temperatures getting even hotter tomorrow. take a look at the high 91 degrees. san jose will reach up to the low 80s and we will see some mid to upper 80s for the south county with morgan hill reaching 87. oakland will be up to 77 and santa rosa wednesday reaching 86 degrees. we are getting ready for hotter temperatures but we do have

more changes ahead. take a look at this. we will see some hot weather and dry conditions throughout the week, but as we get closer to the weekend there may even be, yeah, it means it can rain. we will see some scattered showers for the weekend and it is not going to be a heavy rain for everyone but we are talking about june and a chance for rain. i will think we will take it because it will bring some significant cooling with our high temperatures reaching to the mid-80s about look at saturday, only 67 degrees. as we take a look at our inland temperatures throughout the week we have upper 80s for the middle of the week and then a significant cooldown thursday into early next week with a chance of showers on saturday into sunday. san francisco will see highs in the mid to upper 60s all throughout the week. we're seeing it really like this morning if you do have to work maybe you can leave a little later. it is a little slow heading to
