>> of course people woke up and some slept through it and one lady said i knew i wasn't crazy, so she felt it this morning as well and this is one of the first big activities since 1955? >> well with the last major earthquake we had on the concord-green valley fault was 1955. but we typically see smaller earthquakes and you can see where it runs through parts of the north bay and just off to the left of the fault. as we look at the history there, and when it did happen in 1955 it caused quite a bit of damage, in fact back in that time it was when you equate it to today's money $8 million worth of damage and caused death and unknown injuries, and

knowtime we have earthquake or minor shaking we want to give you reminders. try to find your interior walls and also falling debris as well as think about where to get in, under a desk or table and hallways are not always the safest. aftershocks could continue and something we will be watching for. who knows how long it could last in terms of those aftershocks. >> you are right, they certainly can, and people in the east bay felt it and we have an interview in concord. so what did you feel? >> i was getting ready for work and i felt the earthquake and i

immediately ran over to my kids room to make sure nothing had fallen. but it was quick. so, nothing fell in the house. >> which is good. but you right away knew what it was? >> and immediately knew because i have from the bay area and felt many earthquakes, so nothing new. >> nothing in comparison to the large one and what about your girls, you ran to the room like any good parent would. did they wake up? >> nope. they were fast asleep and we are at my parents house my dog didn't even wake up. so everyone was fast asleep in the house. my sister did call me immediate ly after and she was awake, she woke up.

pretty much any transit out there and do routine maintenance and i have been checking on the bart website and their twitter page and have not seen reports of actual damages, so we are not seeing delays because of that. the first tweet was 38 minutes ago, and although the earthquake was in the east bay, bart did sweet out they were expecting a ten minute delay system wide and the most recent update was 26 minutes and they said expect a 20 minute system wide delay and this is pretty routine. what they do is reduce the speed of the trains that are currently running, so those already on the way to their destination and they then they complete track inspections and so, just to give

you an idea of areas effected and whether you live in the east bay or san francisco, or you live in the south bay you can expect delays, 26 minutes ago, and i can only assume they are conducting their track inspections just to make sure everything is okay, and no reports of anything as far as damage goes to any of the lines, so as this routine inspection continues, you can expect to see these impacts really probably carry on over within the next couple hours or so. i have been checking and have not seen delays on the ferries and i will have another update throughout the remainder of your drive times in the bay area in a few minutes. back to you. we sent out a

teal or aqua color, and 3,000 people have reported that they did feel it. as far south as the south bay and passed santa rosa, and we will continue to monitor aftershocks into the morning, and that possibly could for days or weeks, we have a beautiful sunrise over the south bay and temperatures are milder than where we typically start in the upper 50s and low 60s, there will be more clouds moving in today and we are headed for the upper 70s and also that cool down for parts of the east bay with concord 83, and santa rosa reaching 84 as well. so we will see cooler weather into the weekend and we will talk about that. but where can we find some

and southern sierra and so for the bay area we are still looking at a severe drought. so keep that in mind as you going about your day and we are going in to the dry summer months, and we do see a slight chance of rain in that distant forecast and we will talk about that in a bit. temperatures are coming in cooler, low 70s and low 80s for livermore and mid 80s for santa rosa. 70s tomorrow around the bay area and 60s around the coast. we will see more clouds increasing as the storm system approaches and brings us scattered showers and over and over again we have seen this chance of rain for june with a wetter pattern continuing into next weekend as well and the approach of more showers near the coast. we will be watching that but it would be

gilroy today and oakland 60s the fog is keeping the coast line cool. half moon bay in the 50s san francisco in the 60s and clear lake 84 degrees and more clouds will be moving in. that is the trend over the next few days, and cooler air and possibly the chance of rain by the end of the weekend. yes, we are talking about the rain chances in june, and it doesn't look like a complete wash out and maybe we will do it again next weekend and watching the cooler air coming in and the possibility that we could see from about a quarter inch of rain and higher as you head to the north. so, just a head heads up about that and highs in the mid 70s and warming up next week and for san francisco we have 60s for the weekend, and light showers again expected on sunday. how is it looking for
