crowds. but it's three young royals that have stolen the show, kate and william's children riding by in a carriage, smiling, looking on their best behavior. it's a day of pageantry. the queen is at buckingham palace but they have a great solution which we'll tell you about. crowds celebrating the queen while yet to see her this morning. prince charles taking the lead. a new royal era. the prince of wales, accompanied by prince william and princess ann all on horseback. in 70 years the queen has rarely missed this ceremony, riding herself until the 1980s and then in a carriage. now because of mobility issues at age 96 she's taking a step back. today the parade will come to her, on the buckingham palace balcony.

recent years. and she was looking very well particularly that second sighting when so many people had thronged in front of the balcony. she took it, as always, with such dignity and grace. didn't seek the limelight or glory. a couple of little guys in front of her did that instead. >> we loved watching louie. but the queen really came alive with the crowds. as you said, we saw her the first time out. she was, you know, just kind of viewing. but once the crowds were there, she changed too. >> that that is the most important part of this weekend. it's not just an excuse for a national celebration. it's not just an excuse for four days in the pub. there will be a lot of that going on. its a chance for the people to come out and show their appreciation to her and hopefully for her to witness that and absorb it. there won't be that many more opportunities for that to happen. >> think about for a moment what

it happened on the second floor of a medical center here on the hospital campus. now police are still investigating what they say is not completely random. he went to that building and specific floor with a target in mind. >> this morning, a place of healing is the scene of another mass shooting. >> active shooter inside of the building. >> police say a gunman walked into the medical facility on the campus of st. francis hospital in tulsa, of course of course, armed with a rifle and handgun killing four people before officials say he turned the gun on himself. >> we had shots fired. >> it happened last wednesday. officials have not publicly identified the shooter but he is between 35 and 40 years old. the first call came in at 4:52 p.m. >> they're running in. >> reporter: officers arrived on the scene within minutes. >> it appears as though the

whole thing was a four-minute or so time span from the time he came in to the time officers made contact. >> reporter: now police are working to determine a motive. >> he went to this particular location with purpose. >> reporter: nearly 50 miles away, a bomb squad searches the home they say belonged to the shooter. officers there ordering neighbors to shelter in place. meanwhile, outside the hospital, for family and friends, an agonizing wait to learn any news about their loved ones. >> i was at work and he messaged me saying there's an active shooter, shots have been fired and that was all. >> reporter: this marks the third major mass shooting in less than three weeks. coming on the heels of deadly attacks in buffalo, new york and uvalde, texas. now the second floor of this building where the shooting unfolded houses an orthopedic office. officials say that was part of the crime scene here. as we learn more about the four victims targeted and killed by the gunman we understood it can include both employees and

patients. >> thank you, blayne alexander. let's move to the stunning verdict in the blockbuster johnny depp/amber heard trial. a jury awarding johnny depp $15 million, finding amber heard defamed him. heard given $2 million for her counter suit. her attorney is with us exclusively we'll sit with her in a moment but first miguel almaguer joins us from the courthouse. >> reporter: while the case appears to be headed towards appeal, johnny depp was given a sweeping verdict her in virginia, the jury saying he was defamed by his ex-wife. the jury delivering an overwhelming victory for johnny depp. depp, who was said to be watching from the uk awarded $15 million after the jury unanimously agreed he was

defamed by ex-wife amber heard when she wrote a 2018 op-ed in "the washington post" saying she was a public figure representing domestic abuse without mentioning depp by name. >> today's verdict confirms what we have said from the beginning, the claims against johnny depp are defamatory and unsupported by any evidence. >> reporter: with depp's supporters celebrating outside the courthouse, inside the jury rendering a mixed verdict. agreeing heard was also defamed, awarding her $2 million. after the blistering defeat, heard saying in part, i'm even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. it is a setback. a star-studded but toxic marriage, fuelled by drugs and

alcohol, and claims of mental, verbal and physical abuse. >> he just hit me over and over and over again. >> reporter: but the verdict suggests the jury did not believe heard's accusations of abuse. >> never did i myself reach the point of striking ms. heard in any way. >> reporter: the trial pulling back the curtain on a hollywood marriage with embarrassing details and photographic evidence. >> yes or no. >> reporter: the case and its billions of views going viral. with depp a i peering to win in the court of public opinion. the end of a trial but perhaps not a hollywood ending. and because there is a cap on punitive damages here in the state of virginia, johnny depp will not be awarded $15 million, but instead $10.4 million, at least for now. savannah.

>> thank you so much. we are joined by amber heard's attorney. good morning to you. >> good morning. >> first question, how is amber doing? we saw her hearing that verdict, it took a long time to read. it was a sweeping verdict for johnny depp. how did she handle it? >> one of the first things she said is, i am so sorry to all those women out there. this is a setback. for all women in and outside the courtroom. and she feels -- she feels the burden of that. >> knowing the case and knowing the law as you certainly do. frankly, it favors defendants like amber heard. are you stunned that the jury essentially rejected her story? >> really what happened here it's a tail of two trials. johnny depp brought a suit in the uk for the same case and the burden of proof was easier for him there. the sun had to actually prove that it was true and the court

found there and we weren't allowed to tell the jury this, but the court found that mr. depp had committed at least 12 acts of domestic violence including sexual violence against amber. what did depp's team learn from this? demonize amber and suppress the evidence. we had an enormous amount of evidence suppressed in this case that was in the uk case. in the uk case when it came in, amber won, mr. depp lost. >> you were able to get some evidence that you say demonstrated abuse. you had her testimony, there were pictures, documents, all kinds of evidence. but in point of fact the jury rejected it. you argued in your closing arguments that if they found one instance of abuse and it did not have to be physical abuse, they

have to find for amber heard, and they didn't. >> the other part to bear in mind here, nothing changed. the op-ed didn't mention mr. depp by name. so what, basically, they did here is demonize her. and they did -- they were able to suppress the medical records, which were very, very significant because they showed a pattern back -- going all the way back to 2012 of amber reporting this to her therapist, for example. we had significant amount of text, including from mr. depp's assistants, saying when i told him he kicked you, he cried, he is so sorry. that didn't come in. >> is there any other way to interpret this verdict, though, that this jury, for whatever reason and i hear you on some of the evidence they didn't hear, listening to amber heard did not believe a single word? >> that's because she was demonized here. a number of things were allowed in this court that should not have been allowed and it caused the jury to be confused. we weren't allowed to tell them about the uk judgment so the damages is completely skewed. there are no damages. it stopped at november 2, 2020, which is when the judgment came

down in the uk. >> let me ask you about social media in this case. unlike any celebrity case i've ever covered or scene, social media was a part of this. and it was incredibly lop sided and vitriolic against amber heard. do you think that had an effect on the case? >> absolutely. >> do you think jurors were aware of it? they were admonished every day don't look at. >> they went home every night, they have families, the families are on social media, we had a ten-daybreak, there's no way they couldn't have been influenced. it was horrible. it was really, really lop sided. i appreciate you saying that, it's like the roman coliseum, how they viewed this whole case. i was against cameras in the courtroom and i went on record with that and argued against it because of the sensitive nature

of this, but it made it a zoo. >> does your client want to appeal? >> absolutely. and she has some excellent grounds for it. we tried to get the uk judgment in to dismiss his case because he already had his shot and that's one of the issues. but also a number of the evidentiary issues, there was so much evidence that did not come in. >> is she able to pay a $10.4 million judgment? >> no. absolutely not. >> finally, in closing arguments, amber's team argued that it would send a message, the message no matter what you do as an abuse verdict, you have to do more, you have to be perfect for people to believe you. what message do you think this sends? >> it's a horrible message. it's a setback, a significant setback because that's exactly what it means. unless you pull out your phone and you video your spouse or your significant other beating you, effectively, you won't be
