see things quickly changing. very happy monday to you, elon musk is once again throwing tesla investors into confusion and uncertainty. late last week, he had said to that tesla would need to cut as many as 10,000 workers, he said he had a super bad feeling about the economy. this confused a lot of us because at the same time companies like ford were announcing thousands of new hires that, the danger for tesla sent the stock down 10%. then, once again on twitter, he had reversed himself over the weekend saying -- and by the way, this is not a twit, this was a reply to a tweet that there would be no layoffs. there would be more hires in manufacturing, management would be flat, and monk -- musk is iconic, but this is not how people run companies. not by tweet. it is not the

across the bay area. temperatures are nice and mild, i also want to show you how much rain we had measured over the weekend. this is pretty amazing. not only did it break daily records, but it okay monthly record for how much rain that we have had in june. not everyone had the rainfall, but, where we measured it it was fairly significant with oakland getting a quarter inch of rain, and close to a half inch of rain in half moon bay. there were quite a few spots in the north bay that measured a lot of rain. as we start out the new week, we had to back to dry, windy, and warmer weather. we are looking at hayward today topping out at 73 degrees. 83 degrees in concord. upper 60s in san francisco. we have the cool coastal weather, but the inland valleys will also heat up. we are anywhere from the mid 60s in half moon bay to the low 90s in fairfield. we will also see those 90s continuing through the middle of the week. that is the strong intense area of high pressure building, and

we could see temperatures heading close to 100 degrees by the end of the week. we are starting out with 80s for today and tomorrow, and then we will have temperature spiked back up to 99 degrees on friday. it is going to be hot and dry. all of the moisture that we just measured will no longer really make a difference there. we are back to the fire danger, and then going into the end of the weekend, it will be slightly cooler. we are still seeing a lot of spikes and dips in our temperatures over the next few days. we are in the low to mid 80s. many spots will reach into the low to mid 90s as well. there will be some areas in the upper 90s, close to 100 degrees. san francisco keeps it much milder with upper 70s by friday, all right, so how is it looking now for the commute? >> it is relatively light, but we are noticing subtle changes. let's look at our san jose

first, today, we mark the beginning of santa rosa's fire season. this is a video of previous fires in santa rosa. over the past two years the department has urged people living there to make sure they start planning now. that includes removing dry vegetation around your home, and having an emergency plan. all counties have been on alert for quite some time now. they are concerned that it is so dry. look at all this moisture over the weekend. >> this is the perfect time to clear the vegetation, when the ground is a little bit more moist. in fact, the rain that we got over the weekend is a little bit more than double what we typically receive during the month of june. fortunately, a lot of the vegetation and rush has already gone dormant, and died, it is not able to absorb the moisture. with the high rainfall totals we continue with the high fire danger. we also saw a little bit of rain all from oakland to san francisco, as we go into today

we are learning more about a deadly mass shooting in philadelphia. >> three people were killed, 11 others were hurt. police say that several shootings happen saturday night. one fired an initial shot sending many to fire back. the future of gun control and committee hearings are scheduled for this week. today in the bay's gabe gutierrez is in philadelphia with more. >> reporter: the chaos on saturday night, hundreds of people were packed onto the streets. popular nightlife areas where people typically come, and to, three people were killed. 11 people were wounded. authorities are now searching for suspects. several gunmen, according to police at this point. only hours after this incident

there was a another mass shooting in chattanooga. two people were killed, 12 were wounded at the nightclub there. throughout the country, multiple mass shootings including in arizona, south carolina, in all, 13 mass shootings according to the gun violence archives. the group defines the mass shootings as any shooting incident with at least four people that have been killed or wounded. that does not include the gunmen. this all comes as there is an increased push in congress this week for gun legislation. this follows shootings in tulsa, uvalde, and buffalo. just on wednesday alone, victims families and survivors of these shootings in buffalo and uvalde will testify before congress. here in philadelphia, there's a massive investigation underway. the victims range in age from

17 to 69 years old. so far, no arrests have been made. back to you. happening today, a man acquitted of murder in a 2015 shooting of a woman on the san francisco pier is now due back in court. josi garcia will be sentenced after he had pleaded guilty to federal firearm charges in the death of kate stein. you may recall that it became a national flashpoint over immigration. he was wanted for a six the deportation proceeding when he fatally shot the women. in 2017 he was acquitted of various charges including murder shortly after federal prosecutors had charged him with two counts of illegal gun possession. he faces up to 10 years in prison. y area, take a look at this. have you seen this puppy? riley is an eight month old ppe

couple from arkansas had parked their van on a street across pier 33. these are pictures of the inside of the van. the couple was visiting for just a day before having to return home. the friend who lives in the city is now trying to help find the puppy who is not microchip. she said that the couple left with a horrible impression of san francisco. she is begging for help to not only find the dog, but redeem the city. this morning, gas prices across the bay area are rising. would you pay seven dollars for a gallon of gas? some people are. also, we have a life picture of pump prices. a $7.49 per gallon. that is on the high side, but the average across the bay is not much lower. >> i never thought that i would see $7.50 a gallon for gas. when i bought my first car it was a dollar and $.85.

ramp up to the morning commute. right on schedule, on 101 the speed sensors are changing. we will show you how that affects your longer commutes, coming up. later this morning, boris johnson faces a vote that could remove him from power. this comes after dozens of lawmakers had written letters calling for his ousting. johnson is caused. across the country after the revelation of a string of trend line lockdown parties that he held over the past two years. the prime minister and dozens of others have been fined by police for those parties. johnson previously tried to deny that they had ever taken place. there will be a secret vote later today, he will need to get 50% support in order to stay in office. today marks the 70th anniversary of d-day, thousands are expected to attend the ceremony, overlooking omaha beach. they paid tribute to the u.s.

and canadian soldiers that landed there on the french coast in 1944. the past two d-day ceremonies were canceled due to covid-19 restrictions. this morning, the biden administration is excited to make it easier to buy and install solar panels. >> the solar industry had been tied up in a big investigation. >> a major investigation launched after san jose had complaint that the chinese were not playing fair. we will not get into the weeds of that accusation. the bottom line is that the investigation that was launched by the commerce department have the unintended consequence of smothering the solar industry. it was justified. we want people to play fair, but it through a huge wrench into the biden administration's green energy plan. a big announcement is expected

a few of the mass shootings in the past few days. in washington, there was talk of progress between democrats and republicans. however, most of it is simply talk. background checks are already off the table. let's lick -- let's take a look at what they are doing. there may be expansion of background checks. assault weapons ban, that was never brought to the table. what is left? a push to encourage states to pass red flag laws. the feds cannot force them to pass them. as far as legislation about guns, that is it. there are two nose into maybes. new ways to lockdown schools and mental health are already being discussed. these are solid yeses. we will be watching what is happening in washington, but do not let them convince you that there is progress when there is not. we will talk about it on social media. your questions on gun control are very interesting.

on twitter, you can find me. one man has been arrested after shooting fireworks from a drone during fire season. police in american canyon say the man ignited and an 80 style firework from his drone. please have also said that they were getting reports about booming in the area for weeks. on friday, they follow the drone back to a home near the corner of kilpatrick street and marlow drive. a 55-year-old man was holding that drowned, he was arrested and find. fireworks are illegal in napa county and american canyon. knew, and independence day celebration will be without big fireworks shows. the organizers of the fourth of july show over the north shore of lake tahoe, they replaced their fireworks with drones. the crystal bay july 4th skies show will feature 200 drones that will autonomously fly into preprogrammed formations. organizers canceled the fireworks over concerns about wildfires and debris in the

we are now waking up to a few more clouds in spots. as you are driving through san rafael, heading into san francisco or even more northward, we are looking at traffic and no fog issues right now. our temperature is at 54 degrees. you could turn on the heater in the car for a little bit and then we will see temperatures heading for the upper 60s. overall, it is a very comfortable day with upper 70s and low 80s for a lot of the in the spots. the upper 60s for san francisco as well as near the coast. going into tomorrow we are keeping cool along the coastline, but we will start to see temperatures in the inland area from the east bay to the north bay really starting to warm up, then, we will reach 88 degrees while fairfield will see a high of 91. we will start to see a large intense area of high pressure building just off to our east. that is going to create hotter temperatures in the bay area.

in fact, we may see some of the highs reaching over 100 degrees. let me show you brentwood. going from upper 80s to 96 on thursday. 104 degrees on friday. it does not hangout for too long. we will see the temperatures dipping back down for the weekend, but it is going to be hot on saturday. sunday will be the better day of the weekend to get out and make outdoor plans, overall, as we look at our inland temperatures around the bay area, we will once again see it ramping up towards the end of the week, all of the moisture that we had over the weekend basically disappears, as we get into windy weather. san francisco keeps it breezy and cool. we will see that temperatures warming up on friday. definitely, it will be nowhere near as hot as what we would see for the inland areas. i will track that all morning. 101 northbound, that is
